Gallup chief: Romney support 'collapsing'
Be still my beating heart. Rush just talking about a brokered convention, and the desire on the part of a lot of Republicans for Palin or Cain or someone else to re-think their decisions.
So, in a three way race of Newt, Paul and Santorum, who would win?
Romney is about to be the flavor of the month to the chagrin of Obama, Beck, the DNC, and the Repub DC Establishment.
Monday’s “Pile on Romney” worked. Newt will be the next GOP nominee with Ron Paul running third party. Lets hope the Acorn voter fraud team doesn’t spin the election for Obama. If it doesn’t, Paul will take a number of the democratic voters, ensuring Gingrich as out next President.
Ron Paul? Are you serious?
I would liquidate my 401K for tickets to see Gingrich debate Obama.
He would eviscerate him.
Beck said he’d vote for Santorum, not Romney. (At least in the article I saw earlier today that was about anti-Gingrich argument with the caller.)
This is why Mitch Daniels is said to be re-thinking entering the race 36 hours ago, I suspect. THEY are not going to let a conservative have this nomination, if they have to throw the election to Obama. Romney’s time is UP, and they are moving on.
Cain? Really? Is there a single issue or problem that Gingrich has that Cain doesn’t have similarly?
—So, in a three way race of Newt, Paul and Santorum, who would win?—
Exactly my take on this. The challenge is to get Newt the nomination. After that he takes care of Obama, game, set and match.
I’m pretty sure Rush was joking about Sarah and Cain.
The remainder of the race will be Newt, Romney and Paul. Newt will win, and Paul will go third party. Santorum has never been the slightest factor.
Don’t worry “Mitt”
The democraps voting in GOP primiries will continue to suport you
I can NOT get past the dang “Topics” requirement to post up “The Horserace for January 19, 2012”, by Erick Erickson at Redstate.com! ALL this is explained there in the column.
Once people learn about Romney, they hate him.
Palin and Cain need to stay right where they are.
Neither can win and both will just cause a problem for a real candidate.
Mittens is just another Wall Streeter, used to making backroom deals using insider info.
He is unable to street fight on his own. It showed in last night’s debate.
He Needs a phalanx of Lawyers and Consultants to lead the charge, while he looks pretty ‘directing’
Mittens will crumble soon enough. He’ll stay to the end because he has Goldman and JP Morgan backing.
1) Mittens, Newt, and Dr. Paul will end up going into Super Tuesday with a similar number of delegates.
2) Dr. Paul will not run 3rd party.
Rush also said who would be the brokers? Rush also questioned, are there powerful enough party members in each state that could overthrow the primary election results?
I don’t think so either. And if somehow a brokered convention were to happen that was put forth by the DC Belt way Establishment, they would obviously put some moderate as their candidate...the fastest way to Loserdom. Any BS brokered convention would possibly lead to a new conservative party being formed.
Ron Paul supporters are amassing delegates, posing as Romney supporters where they can, and it will begin at our precinct level. Many of us will not even attend our neighborhood precinct meeting on Election evening to sniff out what is happening. They move into the county convention as committed, and onto the state conventions as commmitted, and to the National Convention, where only on the first ballot they must remain committed. On the second ballot, they break for Paul. I just can’t get the column posted that explains it on Red State.
I’ve been listening to Beck for sometime, I think he’s now promoting Santorum as a stalking candidate to keep the conservative votes split, which is favorable to Romney.
And the liberals of the party would throw it in a heart beat. They are the modern day Vichy.
It’s possible. Santorum’s not popular in any capacity, so that would make sense. Besides every beef I have heard him say he has towards Newt is entirely applicable to Santorum (and Romney as well). I think if Beck is rooting for anyone, it’s Ron Paul, because Beck’s a libertarian, and has said he guarantee’s there’ll be a 3rd party run if Gingrich is the nominee. I think he’s rooting for Paul, not Romney.
"Conservatives" on FreeRepublic and talk radio - Rush & Co - are in large part to blame. In 2008 they rallied around Romney to "Stop McCain", only to give legitimacy to this fraud for another run.
The idiocy of short term thinking!
The likely candidates would be Mitch Daniels or Chris Christie - maybe Paul Ryan, but I doubt it.
Any of those three are both more conservative and far more electable than Romney or Newt. Santorum may be more conservative but Daniels/Christie/Ryan are much better bets in the general election.
We all want to see that, TSgt.
But knowing Bam for being the coward that he is, he would not debate Newt.
The pay-per-view gate for an Obama vs. Newt debate could probably buy us a new aircraft carrier!! LOL
This is good news! And from Gallup, too!
There won’t be any brokered convention to overturn the primary elections so the point is moot.
I heard Beck talking this morning about how he could never vote for Newt and he would be happy to start a 3rd party and campaign for the person if it is Newt who wins the nomination. I also heard Mark Levin a few weeks back say that if anyone runs 3rd party he will trash them. I thought he was talking about Trump or Ron Paul at the time but now I think he probably knew Beck was tossing the idea around.
This was proven in the Weekly Standard's "Overestimating Romney" article from December 19th. It's just been a matter of praying enough people would get the message in time.
Becks true agenda is quite transparent. For several weeks he has gone overboard trashing Gingrich, but his true agenda is quite transparent. He is using Santorum as a front to hide his relentless attacks on Gingrich thereby paving the way for his bud Romney. He knows Santorum cant win.
And Beck does this all the while telling his listeners to make up their own minds. Its disgusting...despite all the good things Beck has done I no longer trust him. He is dead to me now.
BTW, I am not a cheerleader for Gingrich. There are many things about him I don't like. But, considering the current crop of GOP eunuchs he is the only one with the balls to take the fight to the media and Obama. We just might win with Gingrich because he is not afraid to say what most of us are thinking.
I am starting to stamp my foot here. LOL! Can’t seem to get a comment on #24, from the Redstate article, where Rush likely got his information in the first place! Can’t get the dang original article posted for some reason. “The Horserace January 19”, by Erick E.
Wrong answer, Milt, but thanks for playing.
"Beck just said about who he would vote for, Better the Devil you know, (Obama) than the Devil you dont know(Gingrich)."
I lost most of the respect that I had for Beck a few weeks ago, and it is totally gone now. He is a putz.
Actually, I think Romney had a chance. If he would have publicly stated that in hindsight Romneycare was a mistake, promised he wouldn’t do it again, and promised to repeal Obamacare, I think more people would have forgiven his other flip-flops. But the bottom line is most people don’t trust him to repeal Obamacare because of his stubborn defense of Romneycare. I think that was his deal breaker and the reason he could never get over 25%.
I too support Newt. I still don’t think that Beck support Romney, but Ron Paul. Either way, it probably don’t matter because Newt’s going to win. (I don’t “love a single candidate” but of the two that I don’t loathe, one’s an ok choice, and the other’s dangerous).
I quit supporting Beck when he made fun of people who questioned Obama’s patently false birth forgetificate. I catch him here and there, but there’s zero logical reason to think he support Romney (although there are logical reasons for why he won’t openly trash him), but I realize people are entitled to their own opinions, based on their own understanding, etc. So that’s just mine.
I know you didn’t ping that to me, but thanks for posting it. I quit supporting Beck after his “Birther” comedy act. Not again!
I think his answers on the tax returns are just killing him. Those boos represent it and even FOX and Romney’s best media allies seem to be unable to defend his answers on those. I think it also lends retroactive credibility to the attacks on Bain, because it now seems there’s something in his financial career he wants to hide. Luckily the media’s continued to bring up Bain in the debates, which is certainly indicative of what they’d do in the general election. I still believe it was absolutely necessary that his opponents brought up Bain, because his business career is the one thing about him that is really seen as the positive quality in the minds of voters.
Please let it be.
Off topic, but is anyone else finding FR to be slow? It’s my third try at posting on this thread.
Ah, folks are finally realizing what many of us know...RINOmeny is a vapid dork.
Sorry no, they rail on Dr. Paul in pretty much every segment. They say he is “dangerous”, a “kook” all the other pablum you hear spewed everywhere. I hate to derail the thread but there are reasons, real reasons why his message is reverberating with people. He may not be right on everything but to dismiss him entirely is to dismiss the chance to accept into the platform the ideas that will work and get his supporters to come into the fold and vote republican in Nov.
Too many people are letting their personal distaste for his foreign policy get in the way of a real opportunity to change the way our government spends money and manages the economy as well as increase the size of the republican party. Especially attracting voters in the younger generation. Also, please spare me the drug user references, let’s just assume you said them shall we?
Well, that sold me....... on NEWT. Beck is so 2011.
Santorum is obviously a nice guy, but like many have noted, he just doesn’t act Presidential. His little speil about “i do my own taxes and my computer is home” was as lame a squirm as was Mitt’s.
I have yet to hear one word of his regret for backing Turncoat “what’s his name Senator from Penn”.
