Joyce Kaufman: 'Republican Party has to be punished and brought to its knees'

Anyone who has listened to radio talk show host Joyce Kaufman, 850 WFTL, knows that she is not shy about speaking her mind.

She is a Tea Party favorite who helped propel Rep. Allen West to his position, but some of her fans are shocked at a recent proclamation that she will vote for Barack Obama if Mitt Romney becomes the Republican nominee.

Kaufman is unwavering in her position and reiterated it on the record with BPR. (Audio file)

How exactly do you go about "punishing" a party and bringing it to its knees without eliminating them? Someone is standing over them while they are brought to their knees, so who will that be? Um, the Democrats, maybe? sounds like a great plan to me . . .

This is a bad idea and worse than staying home. A vote for a democrat is a vote for destruction and though Romney is a blue dog democrat and Paul an anti semite and leftist leaning fool, to vote for the evil is to be part of the evil.

The mentality that Joyce shows which would allow Obama’s re-election is beyond disturbing and wrong-thinking particularly from an alleged Tea Partier.

What a dumb-ass.

Blaming the GOP when you don’t get your way is childish.

WE are the GOP! WE vote in the primaries! WE control who is our nominee!

South Carolina will prove what happens when conservatives unite.

I agree. While I could never pull a lever or color in a space for Obama, I would vote 3rd party or write in Palin or stay home.

No more RINOs!!!! Get it Republicans? NO MORE RINOs. I'm DONE!

Registered Republican.

I can guarantee that if her ratings go down she will be back on the wagon soon enough. Stupidity like this needs to be punished. If Odummy wins re-election we will know who to blame, starting with this moron.

I can appreciate her sentiment. If Mitt’s the nominee I’ll stay home.

I will vote 3rd party.

Same as voting for Obama. fine as long as you realize that and are willing to accept 4 more years of Obama to make a point.

What would that point be exactly again?

Voting for Obama? If you don't like any of the candidates you can leave that part of the ballot blank, you know...

If Mitt Milquetoast wins we have 8, possible more, years of moderate Democratic Presidents (RINOs) in our future. With another for years of the Zero the Red we get another chance in 4 years to get a conservative.

"WE are the GOP! WE vote in the primaries! WE control who is our nominee!"

Really? Romney "declared" winner in Iowa, then leaks of uncounted ballots, now officially declared "lost" ballots? The nomination process is filthy, just like the rest of it.

“If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures.” - Alexander Hamilton

Those of us who refused to vote for Willie Mitty in 2008 were accused of electing Obama..

It was all our fault etc...

What she is saying is clear. The only way Romney will get the nomination is if he is anointed to it by the Republican leadership, who have already expressed their support for just him.

If Romney is the nominee, the Republicans will lose again, just like they did when Dole and McCain were anointed by the same people. The only choice given to the rank and file was to “hold your nose and vote for them, because otherwise a Democrat will be elected.”

Well, guess what? It didn’t work, and the Democrat was elected, both times.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and “Look at my thumb. Gee you’re dumb!”

If Romney is the nominee, we face a lose-lose scenario, with a LOT of downsides and few upsides.

The congress will probably be heavily Republican in either case. If Obama is reelected, at least they will stand unified to neuter not just what he wants to do, but has done. This means we will be rid of Obamacare.

However, the next president will likely nominate two Supreme Court justices. Obama will likely nominate two leftists, like he has before. But Romney will also likely nominate two leftists, as he did with his judicial appointments as governor. He even has the gall to say, when this is pointed out, that none of his appointments were to his state’s Supreme Court, so they really didn’t matter.

Does anyone believe he would nominate a conservative? Aw, heck no. He loathes conservatives and everything they stand for.

And that brings up my final point. If Romney is elected, he will not try in the slightest to overturn anything Obama did. Instead he will cement it in place.

We will have Obamacare, likely for decades.

We will have homosexuals in the increasingly starved military, LOTS of abortion, HUGE amounts of government spending and sneaky taxes hither and yon, and NO development of domestic energy. Our economy will go even further into the toilet, perhaps a full blown depression.

Yes, Romney could very well be the next Hoover, guaranteeing that Republicans have no political power for another 50 years. Just like last time.

And lord knows what Democrat monstrosity will replace him.

TL;DR: Bottom line is that while Obama is worthless, Romney is a disaster that could sink the Republican party and conservative movement for decades.

Is that ENOUGH motivation to NOT just “Hold your nose and vote for him?”
