Sarah’s comment reminded me of a LOTR quote: Her words are “like the falling of small stones that starts an avalanche in the mountains.”

Excellent!

He didn’t even have his facts right. Gingrich wasn’t 5th in NH—that was reversed.

Oh, but he had his goofy white board!

Speaker Gingrich has a very impressive win in South Carolina. The GOP insiders that have been pushing Romney need to seriously rethink their positions.

No fake Ken Doll Romney as VP!!!Now I could deal with Christie as VP but would prefer West Or Martinez.Rubio would not join the tea party caucus right away he may have fell in to the insiders.

Bush ruined Reagan’s legacy.

Bingo. Nice to see some folks have it right. Reagan thought he HAD to have Bush as VP to get the election - but it turned out he didn't I don't think.

If Gingrich is anywhere nearly as successful as Reagan he'll need to have a true conservative in at VP...but also someone who isn't unduly abrasive but can bring others in...like Reagan himself was.

That's a tall order - getting close to Reagan's success. Reagan was the man for the time. Reagan handled power well because he didn't really care for it. Power was only a means to an end for Reagan. Reagan's end was, in a sense, an end of power, a reduction of government power including his own. Reagan didn't seek office - the office sought him. And as the plaque on his desk said, he was able to so much because it didn't matter to him who got the credit.

This may be the most substantive difference between Reagan and Gingrich. I think Gingrich wants the power and (maybe) the glory and (I think) the credit. Yes, I hope he wins the nomination and the election, but I worry about him once he's in power. I think real success tends to flee from us when our success becomes the most important thing to us.
