It's 0930 EST and there's nothing in the sidebar that looks like a live thread for the SC primary . . .
Gingrich Beats Media in South Carolina, 54 to 14
Prayers to his family . . .
Ouch !! How did that feel coming off your typing fingers. I heard it too. Fox is just so bad lately and I gotta watch something.
Martinez or West would be superb VP’s.
Absolute Blowout in South Carolina...
Deeply saddened Rove changes calculation...says “who wins SC, wins nomination”....not true.
lmao...Rove you punk
He didn’t even have his facts right. Gingrich wasn’t 5th in NH—that was reversed.
Oh, but he had his goofy white board!
Others Show all
Speaker Gingrich has a very impressive win in South Carolina. The GOP insiders that have been pushing Romney need to seriously rethink their positions.
THE CONSERVATIVES HAVE SPOKEN. We’ve had it with the inside-the-beltway picks.
Hey Rove ... pay attention... Newt’s in the house!
Been watching CNN or fox BUSINESS for weeks.
Reported today that FAUX has just contracted and hired a commie, and I forgot the name already,a really bad one. Heartbreak. I’m done with FOX NEWS.
No fake Ken Doll Romney as VP!!!Now I could deal with Christie as VP but would prefer West Or Martinez.Rubio would not join the tea party caucus right away he may have fell in to the insiders.
Bingo. Nice to see some folks have it right. Reagan thought he HAD to have Bush as VP to get the election - but it turned out he didn't I don't think.
If Gingrich is anywhere nearly as successful as Reagan he'll need to have a true conservative in at VP...but also someone who isn't unduly abrasive but can bring others in...like Reagan himself was.
That's a tall order - getting close to Reagan's success. Reagan was the man for the time. Reagan handled power well because he didn't really care for it. Power was only a means to an end for Reagan. Reagan's end was, in a sense, an end of power, a reduction of government power including his own. Reagan didn't seek office - the office sought him. And as the plaque on his desk said, he was able to so much because it didn't matter to him who got the credit.
This may be the most substantive difference between Reagan and Gingrich. I think Gingrich wants the power and (maybe) the glory and (I think) the credit. Yes, I hope he wins the nomination and the election, but I worry about him once he's in power. I think real success tends to flee from us when our success becomes the most important thing to us.
Carl Cameron is on describing Newt's win as a Tsunami.
Bret Beir is saying Newt is leading with women.
CNN to John King:
LOL! Bringing me to tears laughing out loud on that one. Way to go LV Ron. Thanks for the levity.
go ahead and play the race card, whoopie! ha.
the Libs heads would explode!
Gingrich Defeats Media In South Carolina
Wow...Brit Hume...the last reason I watch Fox News has really jumped the shark in this election.
FOX just called it “absolute blowout” for Newt more than once. Hemmer said “wow, wow, wow.” Newt won almost all the counties and he says he could end up winning them all. The map looks like Reagan 1984.
Which is to say, “a strong showing” in AP and CNN-speak...or “unexpected upset” on MSNBC.
Just the source of curses and angst on DU...
Consider tonight as an example of how Republicans/Conservatives will pull together to defeat obama!
Hey... if you keep talking’ about me, I am gonna show you my big sharp teeth. LOL
Good to know—makes me really respect her. Thanks for that insight!
Betty White is 90. Dang she sure doesn’t sound or look it.
Brit Hume just called this “a whopping victory” for Gingrich.
What a week this has been!
A week ago, they were ready to hold a coronation for the Mittwit. It looked like any hope of a conservative nominee was about to be washed out to sea. Sarah Palin and Rick Perry changed the ballgame. Tokyo Rove changed his Depends.
Newt up at the podium.
It’s sad to see. Rove showed his true colors when he oblitered our Christine. He exposed himself to me then.
Just got on about 20 minutes ago, Jedi! Greetings, my FRiend! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Don’t see how the MOMENTUM can possibly be killed, but by truck loads of retail slime! A WONDERFUL NIGHT!
The only person unhappier than Mitt Romney tonight is Newt Gingrich’s ex-wife.
But she’ll be back.
LOL..good one :)
She and I were having a private conversation about you - you weren’t invited.
When the final numbers are in, it’s important to know how big the spread was between Newt and Romney. At this moment, it looks like a huge blowout and that will send him off great to Florida.
Last night’s polling indicated a likely double-digit win, but it was hard to believe in such a rapid turnaround. Wow. Nice to see the polls accurate for once.
She can go gargle with Liquid Plumber.
Thank you. I agree!
Based on current spread, what will the delegate allocation be? And what will be the total awarded delegates to date for the 3 states?
LOL! Yes, God bless those fine patriots!
DON'T FEED THE TROLL.
Either BenKen is a seriously disturbed 'toon who needs professional psychiatric help, OR he is a paid disruptor whose mission is to take the focus of this thread OFF the subject at hand and work to see it become predominantly a theological discussion designed to reinforce the liberal stereotype of "the religious right" as a bunch of Puritanical nut-cases.
Regardless of why he is doing it, BenKen appears to be succeeding as a destructive disruptor, and he is able to succeed only because folks are feeding the troll.
I admit I've done a little proselytizing on FR, but Ben Ken has done nothing else, and all to the denigration of the mission and subject at hand. I urge fellow FReepers: Ignore him, and this thread will improve.
“The only person unhappier than Mitt Romney tonight is Newt Gingrichs ex-wife.”
That thought must have been on the voters mind also!!!! Women rocked her! I knew they would. Men are IN again! LOL!
I'll never forget the treachery of Tokyo Rove, Mike Castle and Tom Ross.
What the hell is wrong with the Fox cameraman? The camera keeps shaking and it’s damned annoying. Is Fox so in the toilet for mittens that they can’t stand filming Newt’s speech on winning this primary?

Newt’s gracious tonight.
I am thrilled over Newt’s SC victory and looking forward to Monday’s debate in Fla. However, Mitt has already spent 7 MILLION in campaign ads in Fla and we know it is Bush country. Next few races are really tough...Nevada, Colorado and Minn, which are leaning towards Romney. I think Newt picked up all 25 delegates in South Carolina. Also, take note that Rick Santorum and Gingrich are not bashing each other as much tonight..could something be going on?
