I too dreamed of trashing Newt in my maidenform undies but woke to the zot.

SummaryIn 2009, Congressman Gingrich supported a candidate for a special election for the 23rd district in New York that was pro-choice, pro gay marriage and supportive of numerous other items that most Republicans opposes. A more conservative candidate was available, but did not win a primary that consisted of a vote by 11 district members and not a public vote.

Congressman Gingrich came out in suppport for Mrs Scozzafava as she was the selected candidate for the Republican party. He asserted that many of her principles were in line with the Republican party. He appeared on numerous radio shows to defend his support for her.

As the special election neared, Mrs Scozzafava was trailing the Conservative Party candidate Hoffman. She dropped out of the race to prevent from splitting the vote, but threw her support behind the Democrat instead of the Conservative.

After the election, Congressman Gingrich stated that the Scozzafava candidacy was indeed a mistake that never should have happened.

The special election for the 23rd Congressional District is an important test leading up to the mid-term 2010 elections. Our best chance to put responsible and principled leaders in Washington starts here, with Dede Scozzafava.

The Republican Revolution in 1994 started very much like what we see today. Like then, our country is reeling from misguided liberal policies, high taxes and out-of-control spending. This special election in New York’s 23rd Congressional District could be the first

… ... more election of the new Republican Revolution, but we need the momentum to get it started

Book Signing

Congressman Gingrich was confronted at a book signing concerning his support for Dede Scozzafava.

He responded by noting that she was the nominee picked by the local representatives, and that she supported a number of conservative ideals and principles.

Although it is fair to criticize Newt for stupidly supporting Dede S., and it WAS stupid,

just as it is fair to point out Newt’s many (MANY) other flaws,

this particular linked article is two and a half years old, man. You need to link to something published TODAY. For example, if Newt had said something NEW about the Scozzafaza endorsement, that would be fair game.

But don’t just repost something by Malkin from 2009.

Do you have a prediction for Florida?

Jeb Bush changed his mind about endorsing Romney, what do you think that indicates?

“He was operating under the misconception that Dede was more electable.”

But couldn’t the same logic be used to say conservatives should pick Romney over Newt because he’s more electable?

Who says so? Karl Rove? David Gergen? A poll of politically unengaged Americans?

I’ve had a few things to say about the Scozzafava episode, it rather irritated me at the time.

Sadly, since I’m not running, there are no perfect candidates in the race. All of the candidates have their defects. Romney has Massachusetts, Paul has 911, Gingrich has Scozzafava, and Santorum has Specter.

All that said, I like Santorum and Gingrich. I like Romney and Paul rather less. Santorum is a good man. Romney is smart if unreliable. Paul is my cranky Uncle Harry. And Gingrich? Gingrich fights. Gingrich loves to mix it up. Most Repubs go weak in the knees when the DNC press goes after them but Gingrich revels in it.

So, baggage and all, for me its Gingrich. He is going to be the next president and I think he’ll be a good one.

Romney is less electable, not more electable.

Romney has a political history of almost 20 years, and it is of a loser, a weak campaigner and vote getter, even though he always has the most money.

“Still for Romney, are you?”

See his about page. Amusing that he attacks Newt’s endorsement of a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage candidate. Scozzafava after all never signed tax payer funded abortion into being, and we are not voting for or against Scozzafava. A decaffeinated taqquiyah vendor.

Geez. I never knew how heavy Newt is. I only ever see him from the chest up. That gut is something else. I was genuinely surprised. At least this is one dude who will not have his Nazi wife tell me not to eat a McDonalds. I love McDonalds and Berger King and any pizza/ cheese steak joint I can find.
