Coulter: ‘With Newt Gingrich you throw out the baby and keep the bath water’
The Daily Caller ^ | 21 Jan 2012 | Jeff Poor

On a Sunday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” conservative columnist Ann Coulter explained why Romney fell short in the South Carolina GOP presidential primary, blaming the priorities of South Carolina voters for Gingrich’s success.

“Apparently, South Carolinians would rather have the emotional satisfaction of a snotty remark toward the president than to beat Obama in the fall,” Coulter, the author of “Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America,” said. “We saw it in the debates when Gingrich would say things that didn’t really make sense. That is what you usually associate with Democrats, which I described in my last book, ‘Demonic,’ how mobs behave.”

Some of what Gingrich has said might appear to make sense, she said, but should be analyzed more closely.

“Something that sounds like it makes sense like, ‘Mitt Romney doesn’t have influence over his super PAC — that makes you wonder if he’ll have influence as president,’” she continued. “How many times does Mitt Romney have to say it is illegal for a candidate to have influence on the super PAC. It is not, interestingly, though, for a president to have influence. So it makes no sense if you think about it for all of three seconds, but it sounds like it makes sense. It is just like what you get from liberals most of the time and the cheers and yahoos, and that is what we kept getting from this audience.”

Coulter, who has been a Romney supporter since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he would not be seeking the Republican nomination, was asked if Romney should change his strategy now that he suffered a defeat in South Carolina, and perhaps go on the offensive with “fire in the belly.”

Will never buy her books again. Period. And will probably torch the ones I have (if not re sell them and pocket the cash myself, maybe sending in a donation to The Tea Party or the Santorum campaign or up a tithe at church.

"you are a Conservative; so, you are too intelligent to use the word,”Suck,” as well."

Probably a generational thing. I never use the word(or other such words) within 'official' communications. Only in a relaxed environment, among friends. Of course, I don't make many friends here when I express my displeasure regarding the candidates on the Republican side.

I did really like Cain, but the media 'took him out'. I also liked Perry, but I believe he rushed into it on short notice, and killed himself during those first debates he was in. I like Santorum, but I doubt he'd win his home state, let alone get to '270'. As for the others, Paul is a joke, Romney is a liberal, and Gingrich can NOT win a national election.....

““How many times does Mitt Romney have to say it is illegal for a candidate to have influence on the super PAC.”

There is nothing illegal about Mitt standing up in public and repudiating what his PAC says. There is nothing illegal about Mitt standing up in public, and calling on people to stop donating to ‘his’ PAC until it pulls the false ads.

But Ann is 50, single, and has chosen to live her life in NYC. Those who swim in sewers are doomed to eventually smell like one.

What the hell is wrong with Coulter...I used to admire the woman.

It's strange that she would support Romney, a true blue dog democrat running as a (R). She can't see this and that's scary. I bet she's even a bit scary without makeup. I'll have to google images to see if I can find and image of her without makeup.

I think that this latest bit with Coulter crystallized a thought with me. Call it a an Epiphany if you will.

We here in the Base or fly-over country if you will have rock-solid principles and we don’t bend much on them. We can approve or even admire a person that steps into the lime-light and speaks to those values. With that being said we are also able to ditch them when it becomes obvious that they have become corrupted or even sold-out to the other side.

Their problem is that they don’t recognize that we do so. With them it’s called expediency, with us it’s called principles.

People are fickle. They’ll be cheering her in the fall when she’s ripping on Obama and supporting Newt or whomever the GOP nominee is.

Many here were ripping on Gingrich when he talked about stopping man made global warming with Nancy Pelosi on the couch, or blasted Paul Ryan for “right wing social engineering” or when he supported Dede Scazzafava. But now since he’s the best anti-Romney candidate left, most here have jumped on his bandwagon.

I’m leaning toward Gingrich myself lately, as I just can’t warm up to Santorum that much, but still Newt by no means is the perfect candidate and we shouldn’t be so quick to damn our conservative pundits because they may say something we don’t like.

Ann used to fight against Obama, somewhere along the way - she lost her 'way'.

My favorite part of the Fox and Friends interview was when Ann unloaded on Newt for “name calling.” Seriously? She is the worst offender when it comes to calling names. She lost me at that point.

Funny how there was nothing in the world ‘wrong’ with South Carolinians a week ago when Mitt was up @ 20 points. Missy is a really sore loser.
