“Bush did this at great political risk to himself. “

Yeah. He let a U.S. citizen by starved to death by judicial decree, while he went on vacation.

Personally, I would be in favor of a constitutional amendment that no one named Bush ever runs for President again.

Romney finished strong, and even though I can’t stand him, it was impressive how he could rattle off a detailed seven-point plan for how to recover the economy, when Rick Perry could not even name the 3 departments he wanted to cut.

Not allowing Newt to respond has caused it to be quiet and strained.

Commentator just said Newt did not let Romney get under his skin tonight. Instead, he took the position of frontrunner.

I don't know, I think Newt's ability to tell it like it is, is what makes him the frontrunner.

I thought that was a good line by Newt.

This is damning with faint praise, but I think Brian Williams deserves some kudos for being less obtrusive than previous debate mods.

Newt was tonight's winner easily, again.

NBC has managed to pull off an entire 1:40 minute Republican debate, without the moderator EVER uttering the words “BARACK OBAMA”.

In fact, they cut anyone off who tried attacking Obama, except Santorum!

How the hell does that happen?????

MSNBC panels saying Newt basically won. Stayed presidential looking, while Romney ranted and raved.

I heard the 200 also but couldn’t make the math work ;-)

Newts command of facts is obviously better than my comprehension of them!

“Short, fat, rotund, white, aged LIBERAL”

If that’s what you think about Newt, why are you here? Go somewhere else, like to Paul.org or Romney.org, where ever they hang out.

The truth shall set you free Renee. You can support Newt, despise Obama and still understand that Newt has flaws and one of his biggest flaws is his tendency to tilt at windmills like mandates enforced by penalties.

Brian Williams looked so peaceful and natural tonight. Almost lifelike.

Not to mention Andrea Mitchell. Ghastly.

“I was talking tonight to top consultants on the Romney team ... “

Oh, were you, really Andrea?

My final ranking
Newt (barely)
Santorum-Romney - tie
Paul

Dull Dull debate!
If Romney was looking for a knockout against Newt, he didn't get it! For that matter neither did Newt. Santorum did well then harmed himself by attacking Romney and Gingrich. He needs to define himself better and paint a vision. Paul did well, was only mildly anti-American.
