Document Shows No Lobbying By Former Speaker

ATLANTA - The Gingrich Group, LLC today announced it is releasing a contract written by Freddie Mac for consulting services it contracted with the organization.

“Subject to a conversation between our counsel and Freddie Mac, we have received permission to release the attached contract,” said Nancy Desmond, Chairman and CEO of the Gingrich Group. “As noted under the scope of work section on Page 14, the contract was solely for consulting purposes and not lobbying.

“Freddie Mac and The Gingrich Group have agreed that this release is limited to the contract alone and does not constitute a general release of the confidentiality provisions between us,” Desmond added. Newt Gingrich relinquished his ownership in the company in May 2010 when he announced his bid for President of the United States.

Yet Obama won’t release records on his life and Romney is hiding all sorts of secrets.

Or they will whine and complain that it was for an exorbitant amount of money “while American families are losing their houses and suffering.”

It works out to a billing rate of $156/hr for 40 hrs/week of work. Or let’s say $300/hr for 20 hrs/week of work.

Hardly an exorbitant amount of money for a high-power consultant of Newt’s background and experience. What are high-power Attorneys in Washington DC charging per hour these days?

What does Romney charge per hour for his consulting time? Hmmmm?

Just in case anyone wants to double-check, there are lobbyist databases here you can query:

OpenSecrets Lobbying Database
Lobbying Disclosure Act Database

Newt's name does not appear in any of these, nor do any of his organizations.

I’ve got to admit that is one nice touch.

Mitt is gonna have a fit.

Yep, Newt pretty much took that issue right off the table for Mitt. I wonder what he’ll whine about now? Newt the disgaced speaker I imagine. The only reason Romney didn’t get run out of office as a disgrace is because he didn’t run for another term knowing full well that Deval Patrick would have beaten him terribly. He let his Lt. Gov get beaten by 20% instead.
