Our judgement of Romney is based on his own words/decisions/myriad of issues position changes, we don't hate but we have tested Romney in objective terms and found him totally lacking to be POTUS.

Well said, Pubbie.

You'd think that Mr. Robinson's countless statements about Romney's abysmal record over the years would have thoroughly permeated the Freeposphere by now, but unbelievably, some still do not get it.

He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."

Good, then keep him seeing voters had no play in it. Too clueless that romney has been roaming around looking for conservatives to support - so he would have their support on his intended run for president.

It must s**k to be a clueless politician and be played by a con man because he gave you candy.

Bada Bingo!

I’m not talking about “taking the high road”!!!

I’m talking about staying focused on the real enemy, which is Obama.
THAT IS the Ganghis Khan approach!

Do you remember Dede Scoffoza and Gingrich support for her during the NY special election.

Dont remember Gingrich in action during the 2010 election.

“In some ways I am kind of excited. We are sort of back where we were in 1979.”

It is similar. A weak Democrat President, with a bad economy that he’s making worse. A Republican Party dominated by a “moderate” establishment.

The big difference and big problem is that conservatives don’t have a strong champion this time. But at least Newt is a fighter, and that may be the best we are going to get.

Rubio just took obama to the woodshed in a scathing letter. He’s no rino.

Except that Rubio just told the world that Romney is a conservative. No real Conservative would ever declare a scumbag like Romney to be a conservative, especially just days before a primary.

Perfect summary! And it goes to show that Romney was doing a lot of work so that a lot of folks owed him favors come 2012. Very disappointing though, because it means they have been bought off.

Oh, indeed I do remember that, and he was definitely in the wrong. I think he has come around since then, but he will need ‘encouragement’ to stay on the right path.

Fair enough, but he cannot allow an adversary to sink a dagger in his back while he fights another to his front.

“The big difference and big problem is that conservatives don’t have a strong champion this time.”

Agreed. On the other hand, the base was -never- so mobilized and determined as now. We do not have a Reagan caliber candidate in the race, but Reagan did not have a March on Washington, Tea Party support base either.

“But at least Newt is a fighter, and that may be the best we are going to get.”

Yes, I think so. One of the reasons Santorum has never captured my attention is that lack of fight. He has his champions, and passionate ones too, but I just don’t see it in him. We need someone on our side who can be sly, vindictive and vicious. Santorum is no doubt largely on our side, but I don’t see the vicious. With Romney I do see the vicious, but he is not on our side. Gingrich has both factors, IMO. Ron Paul . . . Well, with Ron Paul I see a kind of political Altzheimers. Flashes of the good and solid, but increasing detachment from reality. He should not be allowed to contract or have the keys to the car.

Gingrich will have to do.

I think most of them do get it, but are simply in the Romney camp. Whether they are party hacks or Romnoids, they just keep rolling the Trojan horse forward.

I assume the ‘he’ is Dick Armee. He is just losing focus in the past few years. Hard to expect otherwise. Newt has too, but the rust seems to be powdering off of him. Some oil and some brushing up and he may be as battleworthy as ever, and with more cynical experience behind him. I believe in cynicism, as it is seldom found in error.

If you followed my conversation with Pelham you would see that I am generally positive with regard to both of them.

Rubio defending Romney might just bump Romney up a few points since Rubio is a well respected conservative in Fla. It appears the forces opposing Newt are growing in numbers. But he is still leading in the Polls so no real damage done. Thursday nights debate will probably determine the Fla winner. I think I will need some nice Scotch for that debate.
It is going to be very interesting, will Newt show up, will Newt tell the crowd to exercise their right of free speech, will Romney continue to attack, will Newt counter attack, who will Santorum attack, will Paul get more then 2 questions. lol, whiskey and popcorn time Thursday night.

I lost track of Dick Armee after he left the House, but he turned up again as a major leader in the Tea Party with Freedom Works. He was a very good Congressman and has done excellent work for conservatism with Freedom Works.

Most of the time he does, and one of the things I like about him is that he thinks, and thinks out of the box. Today though he was belittling much of Newt’s legacy back in the day he, Newt and Kemp were working together. Those actually were good days though, and they were working -together-.

I like him, but he does not have the edge he used to. Time does that though, more often than not.
