Destroying God with a virus.
Youtube ^

Posted on 01/25/2012 6:27:40 AM PST by Lazamataz

There is a video circulating Youtube recently that describes a DoD presentation in 2005, in which a researcher proposes a vaccination that immunizes against the VMAT-2 gene, a gene associated with a high level of religious experience. The researcher proposes circulating this vaccination with a virus, like the flu.

It is chilling. Please watch it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jRg41D8SOq0

Leaving aside the Frankenstein-nature of this discussed proposal, let us remember that evolution expressed this gene, or that God put it there.

There's a reason for it. It could be that the only way an ordered society could work is that people were moral when no one is looking. Morality tends to be very high in those who believe in God. If this gene is destroyed or hampered by science, who knows what sort of world will be created? Amoral creatures, without conscience, all looking out for their selfish interests ONLY, will make for a hell on Earth.

I would predict a total collapse of society and a reversion to a human animal.

These are truly evil people.

There’s no evidence for a ‘God gene’ and the idea of a vaccine against a gene that doesn’t even exist is doubly specious.

I’ve looked into this a lot, and the evidence does point to the a correlation between ‘mystic experiences’ and this gene.

I have a pair of jeans which are very holy in the knees and seat,...wait wrong type of jeans...never mind. I did want to mention that it is pretty hard to make people any more immoral then they are, genes or no genes. The great mystery, God will also still exist whether we have the gene or not.

Hoax or not. If God is NOT real... then no problem. We ARE alone in a cold cruel universe doomed to perish and be forgotten, permit us our fantasies... for is not one as good as the other? However, if God is God, desired knowledge and relationship with Him cannot be altered by any vaccine, virus or drug... the big obstacle to God is the corrupt hearts and reprobate minds of humankind, such as this nitwit! I for one shall serve the Lord!

Psalm 14:1: “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good”.

I agree that this would be profoundly evil. Considering the way the brain is wired up, destroying the capacity for a high level of religious experience would also substantially destroy most of our pleasures in life and would lead to staggering rates of suicide. Satan would rejoice, to the extent he is capable; it would be an enormous victory for him.

But it would not destroy faith altogether. Very few of us who are believers ever have a high ongoing level of religious experience. We keep going, keep believing, keep loving God even though we never experience the ecstasies the great saints do.

Having a glorious religious experience is an occasional cookie that regular people (mostly new believers) have sometimes, which God in His mercy vouchsafes people just to assure them that yes, Someone is out there. Day-to-day and year-to-year faith doesn’t depend on dramatic emotions, however. Faith—real faith, active faith—is a series of choices. It is behavior that continues even if we don’t feel God’s presence, even if we don’t want to obey.

Some of the greatest and most faithful of us, like the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, went through long dark periods when they did not feel God’s presence in their lives at all. Nevertheless, they continued to act in a holy manner, in accordance with what they knew God’s will to be, believing that God was out there somewhere even if they didn’t have the emotional reward of some grand experience.

So yes, this would be a huge wickedness. But God will not be defeated. Not ever.

Nope.

The fact that you would even bite on this in the first place (if you aren’t just trolling the board) is quite telling.

God isn’t in a gene, and no “virus” could ever eradicate Him or religion.

The premise is impossible from the outset. When you understand that, you quickly recognize that its a pretty bad hoax, and Google will do the rest for you.

I understand that some people like the tin-foil conspiracies, and if you are one of those, I apologize.

He asked why.

I said I’d rather have a butthole in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Man is only the creation, and cannot change the creator’s plan. It’s lack of faith that would let us worry about this. God created all and is in control of all. The Holy Spirit is greater than all.

If there was a gene, and man could remove it, God’s plan will not be hampered. He will continue saving who he has chosen. And in the end, he will come for his people, and those who are evil will be judged.

Praise God for his power and glory and righteousness. Know he is full of grace and mercy. Know his will, will be done.

There is no way to “vaccinate” against a gene. Can’t be done, at least with technology as it exists now. So even if u think there is a religious gene, you can selectively breed those who do not have it, but you cannot inoculate against it.

See, I refuse to say I fell for this. You have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool Laz.

This guy gets up at 2:13 AM.

So, since I will not say I was wrong, I will resort to diversionary tactics.

Like, becoming inappropriately personal, and with no evidence whatsoever, mentioning your many failed marriages. Some husband YOU turn out to be!!!!

Look, an airplane.

“The great mystery, God will also still exist whether we have the gene or not.”

And, of course, if He wants us to have this gene, He is perfectly capable of replacing it or making it immune to the virus. He is God, after all, and He wants us to be with Him. He wants our souls and so does His enemy. Trust that He will prevail. There is more good in the world than evil; evil just seems to have the upper hand at the moment. That moment won’t last and try as they might they will not be able to destroy our innate relationship with our God.

Epiphany type experiences are used to manipulate the unwary by cults on an assembly line basis and often exhibit the symptoms of schizophrenia. “Enlightenment” can be achieved by the obsessive contemplation of any object or idea from a holy relic to a bag of french fries. Once you are hooked, logic has been subverted and you are a true believer.

Say, do you prefer meth or shrooms with your psychobabble?

Just askin’... Like the southern border: no ‘fence.

Me, I can’t make up my mind. Still better off than Pelosi; she can’t make up her face.

If these colors don’t seem right to you, please adjust your set. It sure can’t be us; we’ve got no control whatsoever.

Oh, wait; this isn’t the Undead Thread. My bad. It seems I’ve wandered off the reservation.... I’ll take my marble and go home, now.
