“What’s ridiculous is how people are upset with everyone but the person who actually SAID the things being reported. If I ever become a blind follower of someone in that manner, please, please, please, slap the snot out of me.”

Yes and no. What’s the point in allowing yourself to become distressed at something Newt said? You could probably go back through the history of any politician and find hundreds of silly and contradictory statements. What’s the point? I’m not interested in vetting Newt anymore. I already know I prefer him over the other candidates, and nothing anyone can possibly post is going to change my mind. I don’t see that as being a “blind follower” - I see that as having made up my mind and resent a vast and powerful group of people using media propaganda in an attempt to change it.

Just because you’ve decided you’ve finished your vetting of Noot, doesn’t mean everyone else has to come to that decision. Being angry at others’ who’ve not come to your conclusion would make you a blind follower.

I don’t begrudge you settling on your candidate; don’t begrudge someone else for not coming to that conclusion yet.
I think the more vetting that happens in the primary, the better. Makes those October surprises a little less shocking. Perhaps that was our mistake with Obummer - we got all his negatives out in the open too early. (slightly tongue in cheek comment above)

Again, not every supporter of every candidate is a blind follower, and if you’ve taken that away from what I’ve said then I apologize. There are blind followers of EVERY candidate; “bots” if you will, who merely parrot every talking point, without thought, of their cult leader.

I resent when people refuse see the flaws that each candidate has. I resent the Mittbots who insist that Romneycare isn’t a flaw, I resent the Nootbots who insist that his constant misappropriation of his own history isn’t a flaw, I resent the Santorum folk who insist his inability to get more votes isn’t a flaw and I resent the Paulbots for their inability to be rational about anything remotely regarding Paul. I’m an equal opportunity vat of resentment when it comes to politicians, which, at their heart, is what each of these guys are. They are each career politicians, and dishonest by nature. “Trusting” them is only setting yourself up for future disappointment when they get in office and start veering to the left after your vote isn’t important to them any longer.
