So much for Matt being fair and balanced and showing just headlines and stories others will not...no...he has 14 stories front and center all anti-Newt right now.
No excuse for this...not even ABC/NBC/CBS have 14 anti-Newt stories on their front page.
Bias? What bias?
Conservatives can trust about nobody in media today and this proves exactly why.
That’s ok, just add Drudge to the list of traitors in our midst who have exposed themselves.
They have profited from us, while secretly holding us in contempt.
Im going to throw something out. Knowing Drudge, I think there may be a method to his madness. Pulling the band-aid off quickly.
BULLSH#T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So let’s see, you are afraid of Newt, but not Mr. Romney or President Obama. Hmmm, I dont get it.
See 22 as a theory. Controlled release.
A good way to make a stink about Drudge’s obvious bias would be to call into Bill Cunningham’s radio show on Sunday night, which was formerly Drudge’s show.
thanks for posting...
His hit counter is bogus. The site constantly auto-updates and adds another hit each time. FUMD!
To me, Ann looks like a blonde adams apple on a stick.
Ann-the-Man is sleeping with the enemy!!!
GO NEWT!! WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK!!!
This is like ping-pong on steroids; whose turn is it to manipulate the daily headlines? The sad fact is that out of all the ashes walks a victorious Obama, while the remnants of the Republicans wander around muttering to themselves about their exhalted status.....
I don’t listen to him but, as I understand it, Limbaugh played a heavily edited Gingrich tape today as accurate. It wasn’t. Did Limbaugh, at any time, state that it was an edited hit job?
Because they want to feel like they are really needed....all ads are just seduction, wooing etc. Some people like to feel important...those are the people who vote emotionally....

“Conservatives can trust about nobody in media today and this proves exactly why.”
You are spot on, “conservatives” really have know where to go. Even though every survey shows we are in the majority, we are universally HATED by the left/Democrats, the MSM, the RINO’s, the Republican party (as a whole) and now even the so-called “alternative ‘conservative’ media”. This is why I left the Republican party a couple of years ago. I refused to be treated by the Republican party the way that the Democrats treat blacks . . .assume they will tow the line because they have nowhere to go.
Funny, in the last election, I held my nose and voted for McCain. I still think he is an honorable man, but is no conservative and would have done zero to advance conservative principals. I would hear some people call in to talk radio and say, “I will not vote for McCain even though I am a conservative. . .”. I couldn’t understand those folks! How could they NOT vote! How could they let such a buffoon take the helm of the greatest country on earth?! Sadly, I now get it. Everyone hits their own personal wall at different times/stages. I have finally hit mine. If Mitt’s in, I’m out. Also, I’m done being a sap for the “so-called conservative media”. I no longer go on Drudge (even though I almost used to ‘live’ on the site). No longer watch Fox News at night. And now minimize talk radio to pretty much just Rush (still some sanity coming from him). And of course, still sticking with Free Republic. If Obama gets re-elected, so be it - I’m done. The Republican party doesn’t give a flying FOXTROT about me as a conservative and now, after many years, the feeling is mutual.
It was written by a Reagan staffer. Some of those people have also endorsed Gingrich.
All day he was calling the attacks on Newt a ‘hit’. (almost those exact words). So, yes. (he didn’t say the specific word ‘edited’, but he may not have known.. instead he was saying it was a ‘hit’ and countering everything with his own knowledge of Newt or counter-soundbytes.)
Please. If we look more closely, we notice Rush simply reports on the attacks. He does NOT defend Newt FROM the attacks. In fact, he brushed off the magnitude of the full conservative assault on Newt, by trailing off on how Myth is being attacked by the left, and then wondered back to Newt, and then broke the pace up with his comments on his stupid tea! Then it was a commercial interruption. Come on, this guy is a master at timing and excellence. The closest Rush came that I heard was that speaking of all this, was when he incidentally mentioned, that “this” was not the Newt he remembers, speaking on some of the attacks. Then he goes into repeating them. Sheesh to Rush!
what no tongue?
Did you not listen today? He was defending him left and right. He played soudbytes of Nancy Reagan praising Newt, he talked about his own experiences learning about Newt, he quoted Reagan officials who liked Newt, and so on... He may not have used the exact words you wanted, but the overall theme today was defense of unwarranted attacks.
Pulling the band-aid off quickly.
The fact is all this stuff is out there and was going to come out so

We can PRAY for a well deserved BACKLASH against the media elites, conservative elites and the tools and stooges of the Establishment, (including Santorum) by Tuesday.
We have FIVE days to create a backlash but it has to be done in Florida, not just here on FR. Newt needs us on the phones.
Okay. Thanks!
My best guess is that Romney and the elite Republicans know that if Mitt doesn’t win Florida, it’s all over for him. The reek of failure about him will be too strong and Newt will have all the momentum. They are firing their greatest volley against Newt in one last, desperate attempt to get Mitt a win.
The good thing about this, though, is even if Mitt does win Florida, they have spent probably all of their ammunition. Losing Florida, Newt could hang on and still win the nomination.
I am noticing too, that Newt, despite having the momentum coming out of South Carolina, seems to have that underdog charm about him. People who care want him to beat Mr. Plastic Teeth and Hair. Romney personifies that Joe Popular/Big Man on Campus that everyone hates.
Coordinated Avalanche Against Newt Doesn't Match My Memory of Reagan Years
The full transcript is there. That is probably the most time he has spent on any one candidate thus far in a segment, and it is all defending against these attacks.
I no longer trust Rush. Each to their own, but when this election is over, I will no longer listen to his show.
It bothers me to say that, because I have been with him from the beginning.
Here is a little media inside baseball. If someone throws out a line like "It's not really that it's been doctored..." that is basically saying "It has obviously been doctored...". It is leaving 'doctored' in the audience's mind. Words like that are chosen for a reason. That is a LOT stronger than saying 'edited'.
Sorry but that is not at all clear to me from reading the transcript on the FR thread.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2838305/posts
It reads more like phony shock to me. Like he didn't remember Newt that way and these anti-Newt stories are unsealing his puppy eyes. Audio and transcript can be vastly different but I am not liking what I read.
He was NOT defending Newt. He reported the Reagan soundbite. Rush, himself, did not defend Newt. He triangulated on the Romney-Newt attacks by underplaying the Newt assault when he tried show them as equal, the equalizer, being that Romney is being attacked too, from some lefty organizations, AS IF THEY WERE of THE SAME MAGNITUDE. Nope, Rush is triangulating at a crucial time, and it will not be found helping Newt if today’s program is an example. IMHO. I am just disagreeing with the premise, but not you and altura.
I posted a link in 72, people can judge for themselves. That seemed to be a pretty srong defense to me, not just saying that ‘others’ disagreed, but even personal observations that the attacks weren’t true.
He also implied the use of ‘doctored’ soundbytes against Newt.
Yep FL is the line in the sand for Mittens. If he loses it he will lose the nomination.
Tomorrow will only be worse than today and the day after even worse.
We need Newt Presidential tonight and hitting them out of the park.
Someone on another thread posted this, and it is what I heard also. (and yes I am getting too lazy to write my own posts).
“Rush is jumping the shark too as we speak.
He is supposedly just reporting on the hit pieces on Newt today.... But he is also injecting comments about Snerdleys jaw on the ground and his surprise at some of the stuff that is coming out.
Opinions via association.,,voice inflections.
A caller is taking him to task.”
Ping!
Newt must be dangerous to the status quo to get this tsunami of criticism a few days before the FL primary. You’d think he was a foreign-born crack-smoking radical marxist from the the temper of the criticism. Hmmmm. . Why is Newt so dangerous? Didn’t he push through the Contract for America? The last time successful reform was done? I used to be a teacher. Did you know that good professors play devil’s advocate and present all sides of n issue? It’s a shame that like Disraeli, Churchill, Ike, Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, etc. that Newt isn’t perfect.
See the link in 72, judge for yourself.
I heard that exchange. I wrote on another thread also CST, that I was just sure a FReeper must have called in to let Rush have it on his Romney Pass-itus condition. The guy caller did just fine.
THE SNERDLY COMMENT BURIED RUSH, and even then he used his surrogate Snerdly to deliver the response Rush wanted to emphasize. I heard it. I got it. And I GET it.
I’ve been sending Matt “tips” all day!!
14? This morning it was just 9.
Doesn’t Drudge ever get away from his computer?
After all, Rush can not be seen “jaw dropping” like Snerdly can. He uses Snerdly often, to advance something he does not want to actually say himself, but attribute to another or others, as the case may be.
I have never disagreed with Rush since 1985, so this a watershed moment. It has to be pretty obvious for that to happen. But then this is a WATERSHED day to kill Florida for NEWT.
“Something weird is happening”
You can say that again!
He said that a blogger named Riehl (sp?) was reporting that it was just a bit sliced out of a longer tape to be misleading. The whole, I guess, is about an hour long. He asked Cookie to listen to it, but either she didn't or didn't get through the whole.
I agree, Drudge may know what he’s doing here. Whether he’s being blackmailed really doesn’t matter. This saturation of his site with Newt attacks is unprecedented and uncharacteristic of his past balance. Consider that the source of all these stories is Washington elite. I think Drudge is pushing it very hard for a reason. The MSM is really losing it’s last shred of credibility and these coordinated attacks are very enlightening. Drudge has to know that Newt attack fatigue has set in and the sheer number of stories he has up will further that. Gay or not, I think Drudge understands what’s really at stake this November. I for one know that the current trainwreck that is Washington will not be averted by a boyscout. Give ‘em hell Newt, you’re the ONLY one doing it!
They are truly scared and getting panicky. The desperation is showing which tells me that Newt is polling pretty well. We need to step up our efforts as well. This is all showing what a scum Romney as well as the entrenched stench in the R party.
I totally agree with you and you articulated and followed his timing into the tea thing .. He never defended Newt even where it would have been easy to and there was an attitude that finally caused me to turn him off. It was as if he were toying with Newt supporters from a lofty perch knowing we wanted him to defend Newt or criticize all the charges but he was playing a game and not letting anyone in on it and having a private laugh or two.
ping
Yes. It was posted on FR. It’s from Dan Riehl. The edit was a hit job. Riehl posted the whole piece.
I heard it.
I have been listening to Rush since the third day that he went national.
Rush has sold out, this is now the fifth year that he has been trying to get Romney into the White House.
Goodbye to Rush as far as I am concerned, I am going to have to reevaluate everything because of what I have seen the establishment do during this last three years.
I heard that as well, he was mocking conservatives and it was very much an in your face thing.
Drudge turned his page into the same in your face thing.
We went to bed thinking that this video would go viral, but instead we woke up to a fierce, dishonest, vicious, preemptive strike.
I did the same.
Here we are at the battle of Normandy (Florida) under the final major assault from the enemy, before the vote in Florida, with incoming so fast we can’t reload, and RUSH puts on his nerd hat and snorts through a reading of the days headlines, breaking to sell that damn tea. Unforgivable. From that lofty perch of his he could have commanded the troops, but instead, he elects to fog up the battle field and to slow down our reaction to the urgency of the hour.
FIVE days.
Is this how talk radio dies? Not from the Fairness Doctrine, or forcing radio stations to carry local programming, but by being co-opted?
Wow, that’s depressing to think about.
It really is time for a new generation of conservatives to step up and take the reins from these establishment hacks. But who? Where?
Jeff Kuhner of The Washington Times subbed for Michael Savage the other day and bashed Gingrich for practically the entire 3 hours of the show .
You’re right, Rita.
Since when does Rush comment in Snerdley’s facial expressions? That was passive aggressive, unnecessary and immature.
Has anyone else noticed that Rush seems to be at least a day behind us in political uptodateness?
I love that he has found happiness with Kathryn but IMO, the preoccupation of his relationship takes away from his sharpness/astuteness. And of course, the latter is much more important. LOL.
