http://abcnews.go.com/ ^

Posted on 01/26/2012 12:07:59 PM PST by jakerobins

Last week, TV chef Paula Deen announced that she’s been suffering from type 2 diabetes for the past three years. She acknowledged that a person has “to make changes in your life” but apparently, Deen hasn’t apparently changed all that much. TMZ posted a photo of Deen woolfing down a cheeseburger on Monday while on a 7-day Caribbean cruise. The 65-year-old chef was hosting her annual Party at Sea vacation for 400 fans. TMZ says Deen also had fries on her plate.

The only good burger place near me(Im in Los Angeles) is Johnny Rockets.

You're not a fan of In-N-Out?

The myth of America's childhood obesity crisis is in full swing and when you hear those words, take note that what follows is propaganda for the government to take control of corporate and individual rights.

The crisis changes from time to time, but the "solution" is always the same.

“Carl’s Jr......F You, I’m Eating.”

That probably cracked me up more than anything in that movie.

I found the titles at wikipedia:

"In 1997, Deen self-published The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cooking and The Lady & Sons Savannah Country Cooking 2. Both cookbooks were featured traditional Southern recipes ..."

Being a native Georgia Girl Peach, my ex loves Savannah and might have picked up those two because of her affinity with cooking, catering, Savannah, and good Georgia girlishness. My ex-wife's cookbook library is similar in size to what you mention!

Five Guys is quite good - especially their fries. There’s one at Reagan National Airport which I rarely miss while changing flights.

She’s a smoker, too—Probably fired one up right after the meal.

I wonder if she’ll be allowed (or will want to) return to the US at the end of the cruise.

Sheesh!

I am a well controlled type 2 diabetic with AC1 numbers under 6. At In-N-Out I order my cheese burger wrapped in lettuce and then endulge in a few of my husband’s fries. When at Red Hut (a favorite Lake Tahoe joint) I order the cheese burger without fries and eat most of the bun. It has to be more difficult for a well-known type 2 person such as Paula Deen to eat out. I have been served a cheeseburger with a heaping mound of French fries in a restaurant, but it did not mean that I ate the whole thing. I am constantly checking my numbers. Last night we ate at the Olive Garden. I used my meter to check my numbers. Since it was 81 I ordered a shrimp pasta dish. I ate a nice portion of salad without croutons and when the entree arrived I divided it into two portions. I ate the second portion today for lunch. By the way I love dessert, especially cheesecake or anything with chocolate. One my daughter-in-laws’ told me this Christmas she loved splitting dessert with me because I take one nice fork full and she eats the rest. I have learned to slow down and savor good food and not waste my carb ration on ho hum French fries, pizza, or coffee cake. By the way tonight we are eating homemade pizza.

Hi Miss M,

I was just commenting on the “TMZ posted a photo of Deen woolfing down a cheeseburger....... TMZ says Deen also had fries on her plate”.

I am a diabetic and it seems many people (including TMZ, the media in general) believe meat, fat, etc causes Type II when in fact higher amounts of carbs do.

I don’t care what she or others eat, it’s their choice.

Why does anyone care what anyone else smokes or snorts? Busybodies are all around us.

I was going to say, if your diabetes is under control eating a cheeseburger should not cause any problem for you.

Cheerleaders, being mainly protein, don’t cause spikes in one’s blood-sugar. But it would probably raise my blood pressure. Of course it would kill me, well the wife would that is.

I say let her eat what she wants.

I’ve been making Marinara sauce all day and it smells great, but now I want to fire up the grill.

Why not? It’s not like she’s going to have a choice.

The government volunteering to pay your health bills does not obligate you in any way to alter your disgusting, unhealthy habits.

Besides, cheeseburgers are good for you. At least they ought to be:)

If you eat healthy, you don't actually live longer - it just feels that way.

A couple of days ago, several FReepers were on a thread talking up Culvers for a great burger. One just opened in my town and I think we are going to have to visit them tonight or tomorrow night.

GTH, Moosebutt and food Nazis.

Great flick. I’d actually prefer President Camacho to our current POTUS.

Yum. Those foot-high sandwiches are the meat-eaters answer to prayer
