Why isn’t Gingrich the selfish one? He lost Iowa, he couldn’t even tie Santorum in New Hampshire, but he kept going and took the votes from Santorum in South Carolina.

At least, that is as rational a way of looking at is as claiming that Newt somehow is entitled to the votes, and Santorum is evil because he wants to be President.

Heh - I am an engineer: You and I could fill these pages until our fingers drop off with all the positives that came from NASA and those who worked with them. And still there would be much more.

However, Newt is right. As is true of so many areas, the Establishment (in this case the NASA Establishment) needs serious pruning and reshaping followed by redirection. The goal is not to save money in a zero-sum-game while everyone remaining sits around in committees and does studies to try to justify their jobs. The goal is to create whole new areas of economic growth, opportunity, and benefit to humankind, the USA in particular. Along the way, we learn more about our Universe (close and far), and encourage a whole new generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians, to create far more than thinner laptops and computer games.

I skimmed the comments and they are similar to what is on Twitter. Santorum did good tonight and as a result, Mitt will win FL and be our nominee.

The media, Mitt's negative campaign and the GOP establishment were effective at destroying Newt's chances.

I don't think Mitt can beat Obama, but if he does, nothing will change. Our country will continue to decline and by time everyone wakes up, it will be too late. Perhaps it already is too late, based on comments I have been reading.

I am bummed, but not for myself. I am bummed for my kids. They will never have the opportunities we had.

I will vote for Newt in the FL primary, but I will not vote for Romney if he is our nominee. The real Mitt was on display tonight and he truly is a despicable person. Santorum and Paul do not have a chance in heck of winning and I have absolutely no respect for either one. They have given Mitt the win and put the final nail in America's coffin. Anyone who thinks they are viable candidates in the general election is not facing reality.

He attacked them knowing there could be no follow-up.
That’s a sneaky, low-life thing to do and that worthless
Blitzer should have put a stop to it. All in all it was a terrible debate, worse then the one the other might.

IN the estimation of our Comptroller and all but 4 of the legislators it was a way to relieve the tax burden on citizens of Texas.

The FEDERAL Gov forced these illegals on us, they FORCED us to allow them to be citizens, pay for k-12 and pay for medical.

What our legislation said was, “If we are stuck with them, why not give the bright ones a chance to give back to the community by becoming successful. Why not collect their taxes, let them pay their own way, rather than be day laborers that are a tax burden for other citizens?”

At any rate, It passed with only 4 dissenting votes and Perry was unable to veto the bill.
State Comptroller Susan Combs says we are seeing relief in the debt burden because of it.

Remember this is not a hand out. These4 people still have to pay their own tuition, and they must successfully apply for citizenship.

“Why isn’t Gingrich the selfish one?”

I think it has to do with the consistent inability of Santorum to gain support on a national basis and in key states like South Carolina, Florida, Ohio and his home state of Pa.

Newt is well ahead of Santorum and has a chance to defeat Romney.

What Newt said about Nasa was brilliant. Problem is I’m not sure that very many can actually grasp what he was trying to say.

I am not so sure.
This is not a normal primary.
I think Santorum could end up with this thing, and I think he is a weak candidate.

Santorum claims that there are no absolute rights. He is wrong. An inalienable right by definition is an absolute right.

Your problem is you do not know the word “right”.

No, your problem is that you don't understand the phrase "inalienable right".

Do you think you have an inalienable right to libel?

No.

Do you think you have an inalienable right to own a gun?

Its not over regardless of who wins Florida. After Florida less than 5% of delegates have been awarded.

and encourage a whole new generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians, to create far more than thinner laptops and computer games.

I was just thinking about that today. We have high tech, yes, but it seems to be limited to just the computer software industry. Surprisingly, computer programmers know very little math and physics. Our educational system really fails in this regard and that is also something that needs to be addressed.

If Sarah endorsed Santorum, it could put him over the top.

Do you think there are any Sarah Palin supporters who are supporting Romney right now, but would move to Gingrich? Do you think there are many who aren’t already polling for Gingrich?

Florida isn’t the end. It’s only 49 delegates. It’s winner-take-all, so that hurts, but Gingrich got all the SC delegates.

“I wanted very much to be reassured about my support for Newt but ....”

Let me tell you, it’s easy to get depressed, but look at the bigger picture. it is only 10 days since Newt’s rousing debate in SC where he knocked Juan Williams. It is only 7 days since Newt smacked down John King, and only 5 days since he won SC. What changed? The focused impact of money. I live in S. Florida and today alone got 3 Romney campaign mailers and 1 hit piece on Newt from Restore our Future. The Romney guys spent a ton of money through SC and were reeling after last Saturday.

This tells us that even strong debate performances can be taken down very quickly by effective campaign marketing and negative ads. Newt has spent very little thus far. I hear his radio ad and I have seen a couple of commercials. He is saving the best for last. I saw both debates this week and in my view, Monday was a draw at worst for Newt. Tonight he was tired, and frankly has to be a bit worn after all the endless attacks. This ranks up even higher than what Sarah Palin got in such a few very short days.

The only way Romney climbs is by tearing Newt down. I don’t believe that Romney firmly holds the 40% he is supposedly carrying in the polls. The only difference between last week and this is the bombarding of Romney mailers, negative ads on Newt, the distortions about the ethics investigation, and now these guys from 15 - 30 years ago coming out of the woodwork to attack him on his support of Reagan. If Romney were a half-decent candidate that people like and want, he would be way over 50% with all the money he’s blown.

I say we need to stand firm! We were not wrong to support Newt last week and we are right to support him now! There is still 5 days that Romney has to cover his sorry ass, and now already the Boston Herald has a story that Romney’s blind trust claim is a lie. The investments he has in Fanny and Freddie are in his portfolio, not a blind trust.

The fact is that all week through today, Newt is drawing big, excited crowds, and the Tea Party leaders have come out in support of him. Newt has kept his powder dry and saved his money. Now in the last few days it’s time to come out blasting. Also, don’t forget that early voting just started last weekend, right when Newt was peaking in SC. Nobody knows what the early vote tally looks like. One reason Romney poured all this crap out is that the start of early voting could not have been better for Newt! The only vote I am sure of is mine - I voted for Newt yesterday and the voting has been pretty active.

This thing ain’t over, folks. I remain confident!

Cheer up. Mitt will not be the nominee. He has a base of support but it is not a majority.

If he wins Florida it will be because of early voting, which I hate and not because Santorum is running or did well tonight.

I dont think it is about the % of delegates awarded. Its about the Funding. If mittens wins he will take on an heir of invincibility and SC with the Evangelical will be a Fluke.

Newt funding will start to dry up. Remembers Mittens has been preparing for four years and has plenty of cash.
