WATERLOO, NY--the Waterloo Police Department reports the warrant arrest of Christopher G. Ludwig, 17 of 79 Stark Street Waterloo, NY for Harassment in the second degree and for a violation of the Village of Waterloo Municipal Code.

The arrest is a result of a complaint where it is alleged that Ludwig did throw a snow ball, striking another person which did cause pain and redness to the victim’s leg.

Ludwig was arraigned in the Waterloo Village Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear on a later date.

Ok, but what about the Ithaca Municipal code concerning snow ball stockpiling?

My husband knows this family when he was married to his first wife. The parents are notorious liberals so this should be interesting (popping popcorn).

Don’t be deceived. The whole Fingerlakes area is nothing but uber liberal. My stepson’s FB page (he’s friends with the snowballer) is circulating a photo of a cancerous deer and they are all associating it with FRACKING!!

The whole FL is not über liberal yet, but the parents are blind to the leftist cancer seeping out of Ithaca, the indoctrination going on at the local schools and libraries [one of the local small town libraries aired the union-backed, anti -WalMart doc for “family move night”], the replacement of local farmers with liberal winery owners [many of whom are pausing antifracking] and the resulting effect on the young people.

Fracking hasn’t been paused, it’s been stopped as a whole. Every day there is an article in the FL times against fracking. I find it funny that those who are against fracking are those people who either have gov’t jobs or who have made their wealth in the past when NYS was the Empire State. They want to turn NYS into strictly tourism; one big state park.

Waterloo school district is terribly full of liberal agenda (I see the school newsletters for my stepchildren) Most everyone is on some sort of “special ed” due to non-parenting. Government has outlawed discipline and has equated all traditional parenting with “abuse.”

I feel bad for people in Seneca County. Ithaca is mestastizing from the south. Geneva from west. And schools everywhere are in the grip of leftist Alinskyites.

Where I work, Throwing snowballs can get you fired. We have a guy who was a baseball pitcher in college and he can wind up and really bean a person.
A few decades ago a guy lost his eye thrown by co-worker. SO they put this rule in place....
I cant really see arresting someone...

I agree. The whole area is not uber liberal. The area I live in is still quite conservative. There is at least a very vocal anti-abortion contingent in town. Even friends of my daughter's who consider themselves liberal are surprisingly conservative on a lot of issues.

I'd call them moderates more than anything.

And gun grabbers beware. I daresay there are more guns than people in my area although I doubt they outnumber the cows yet.

Very common in Upstate New York.

A few miles from Waterloo, NY and about 28+ years ago, the brother of a friend of mine obtained a position on the local police force. His first act was to ticket every customer in the parking lot of his sister’s store. She was furious.

This isn’t all that new. When I was a kid, a bunch of us were throwing snowballs at cars on the road at night. One of the cars ended up being a cop car (we didn’t see the shield on the side of the car until about five snowballs hit it). The cop slammed on his brakes and we headed for the hills. The cop and his partner searched like crazy for us with flash lights. I was hiding under the bows of a pine tree and one of them was so close, I could reach out and touch his leg.

If they had caught us, I am convinced we would have been hauled off to jail...

...and rightfully so.

The house Republicans passed and Obama signed a defense bill allowing indefinite detention of US citizens on US soil by the US military with no arrest warrant.

Does anyone here honestly believe the federal government is populated by people any better than this local police force?

I don’t.

People better start studying history and learning about resistance organizations. It will be necessary.

Update: Fox picked up on the story and now the local site that originally ran the item is all butt hurt that it made the local cops look bad:

Of all the stories we have published on Seneca Daily, the story of the teen being arrested in Waterloo for throwing a snowball is probably the last one you would think might get picked up by the national press.

We think we run a number of vastly more interesting and important stories.

We ran a news release supplied by the Waterloo Police Department. Perhaps we should have tried to unearth the full story before we ran it, but in our defense, we generally run news reports from law enforcement agencies pretty much they way they are given to us.

We honestly don’t know the full story, but we tend to think there must have been some reason throwing a snowball – even a snow ball that caused “redness” and “pain” – would actually escalate to an arrest.

Fox News has shown no interest in digging any deeper. It seems to fit their interests to paint anything government officials do, even our police men and women, as stupid…or worse.

We think the Waterloo PD would always act with professionalism, and doubt they did anything less in this particular case. We aren’t very happy that a local news story we ran is being used by national media in a way that makes our local police officers look bad.

We’d much rather people read about our wine trails, our community rallying to support the Ticconi and Dickenson Families, our people and our communities. Those are the reasons we started Seneca Daily News in the first place, and they are the stories worth sharing with the nation.

Almost reads like either: (a) the local site's editors are libs and just don't like the idea of "Faux Republinazi Corporate News" picking up on their lazily put together work product; (b) the local Barney Fife's have paid them a visit over making them look bad.

The mayor and police chief must have chatted with them at the weekly cocktail party and threatened to give them no more access.
