Who’s Mitt Romney hiring as his top advisers — Hugo Chavez and Kim Jong Un?
According to NBC’s Andrea Mitchell, a “top Romney adviser” says that if Mitt loses Florida on Tuesday, “we’re going to have to try to reinvent the smoke-filled room which has been democratized by all these primaries and come up with someone as an alternative to Newt Gingrich.”
Finally — a Republican campaigning against the scourge of democracy! First we’ll go back to the good old days of the “smoke-filled room,” then we’ll bring back Prohibition and get rid of women’s suffrage, too!
Personally I can’t think of a better way to be perceived as an entitled elitist than to have your supporters announce that, unless you win, the voting shouldn’t count. And it’s not just Romney’s team.
Establishment Republicans are in “full panic mode,” as Newt called it yesterday, filling the press with hopeful speculation about a “brokered convention.” That’s when no candidate has won a majority of delegates at the ballot box and the GOP insiders get to pick who they want.
It’s the perfect outcome for folks who prefer a Politburo over a polling place.
But that’s how desperate the establishment is to nuke Newt. The terrified look on the face of GOP pundits as they talk about a possible Newt victory reminds me of the babysitters in the “Friday the 13th” movies waiting for the guy in the hockey mask to kick in the door.

We’re screwed. After Obama beats Mittens into a bloody pulp at the polls on November 6, there will be tons of articles on the “conservative” media outlets explaining why its all the fault of those redneck ultra conseratives who are too stubborn and hate-filled to reach across the aisle and surrender our credit cards to the Democrats.

We now have a government with a contempt for the law that would make even King George III blush. When there is record unemployment and a struggling economy they throw themselves lavish parties and talk about further raising taxes. They seize our land and our tax dollars and give it to their cronies in shameless acts of political pay back. Meanwhile they conduct wholly illegal Mexican weapon smuggling operations as a ruse to further restrict the 2nd Amendment.

I love this quote from the article:
Fellow columnist Jonah Goldberg spotted the irony: “Six months ago it was absurd to call Newt an outsider. But now that the insiders have thrown him out, he is one.”
The message is clear: Washington Republicans really hate Newt. And the conservative response? “Is there some way we could vote for him twice?”

On to practical matters.
At the RNC there will be 2,286 voting delegates. To win, a candidate needs 1,144 (50% + 1 of total).
The majority of those delegates, 60% or more, will be “serious conservatives”, and while they are supposed to vote for a particular candidate in the 1st ballot, if no candidate wins outright, they are “free agents”, and can vote for whoever they choose.
Importantly, after the 1st ballot, *anyone* can be placed into nomination for the 2nd and later ballots.
This is the time in which almost certainly, whoever is nominated will be more conservative than any of the current candidates.
So it is vital to start creating a list of potential dark horse nominees.
Sarah Palin will be high on the list, however, even she might have enough opposition to not get a clear win. But she can be the “kingmaker” for a conservative candidate, and her endorsement will be decisive.
Obama will not run in 2012—I have been saying that for two years—Poll numbers don’t lie. He will pull down the party and he may even get Mittens elected. I believe obama will be disposed of in some way—forced to resign in a scandal is my bet, or resign for health reasons. The resignation will be painted to look like Republicans forced it—The Hillary will be selected VP, Biden will not run and hand it to Hill. She will select someone like Kerry as VP or Libermann to run with her. Please keep notes on the date.

Now that does not mean that we should not fervently debate issues; just tone down the personal attacks on one another. If enough Conservatives really concentrate on the issues, not the personalities, many who see this will be surprised how the candidates begin to move to the Right--subtly, at first, later more dramatically. We saw this in the 1930s, when many formerly Conservative Democrats moved left, under pressure from the FDR Administration. We saw it again in the 1980s, with the Reagan tide, when American politics moved Right.
Getting those who hate American values out of the White House, has to be the greatest priority.
