Romney Faces Medicare Attacks in Florida By Alan Silverleib January 27

(CNN) -- GOP presidential front-runners Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich barnstormed across Florida on Friday, trying to rally supporters and break away in the polls four days before what is shaping up to be a pivotal primary in that state.

The morning after a heated CNN/Florida Republican Party debate in Jacksonville, a pro-Gingrich super PAC hit the airwaves with a television ad essentially accusing Romney of committing Medicare fraud. One of Gingrich's top Florida backers, former state Attorney General Bill McCollum, also raised questions about Romney's past service on the board of Damon Corp., a Massachusetts medical testing company that pleaded guilty in 1996 to billing Medicare fraudulently and paid a $119 million fine.

Romney was never implicated in any wrongdoing, but the issue is "fair game" and "raises a serious question about (Romney's) corporate judgment," McCollum said.

McCollum said he does not believe Romney was guilty of fraud while sitting on the Damon board. "But did he perform the function he should have performed? Or was he negligent in that function? ... That's the issue there," McCollum said.

The Romney campaign denounced the super PAC ad, saying it "would make Michael Moore proud and (has) already struck a chord with President Obama's liberal allies."

"They have been thoroughly discredited by independent fact checkers and by respected Republicans like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. "Once again, Speaker Gingrich is reaching into President Obama's playbook and trying to re-litigate old Democrat attacks. Speaker Gingrich and his political cronies are desperate to distract from his record of failed and unreliable leadership, and voters won't be fooled."

I LOVE it! bout time. Let’s hope the senior citizens view it. Here are a few OLD videos of Mitt lauding Kennedy over healthcare; Mitt on being pro choice and Mitt supporting gun control legislation. He is such a fraud. An old video of Gov Mitt Romney thanking Sen Kennedy for his help on healthcare. http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/10/mitt-romney-ted-kennedy-health-care-reform
This Ted Kennedy lovefest footage from the 2006 bill-signing ceremony for the health care law is probably not what Romney wants GOP primary voters to have in mind when they enter a polling place or caucus meeting. When he has discussed his health care law on the presidential campaign trail—in 2007 and this past year—Romney has occasionally noted that it demonstrated his ability to work with the opposition, including the late Sen. Kennedy. But in these settings he doesn’t describe Kennedy as his “collaborator” whose work “behind the scenes” was “absolutely essential” for passage of the health care plan. Nor does he call Kennedy, whom Romney praised for winning crucial federal support for the Massachusetts bill, a “parent” of Romneycare.

How many Florida-resident registered-Republicans watch CNN?

Not many, I can't imagine.

Actually sounds like Romney is using the “Obama Playbook” by accusing his opponent of using the “Obama Playbook.”

If anyone would know about the O playbook, it should be Romney.

Besides, if he gets the nomination (shudder) he hasn’t even had a taste of the O playbook yet.

From what I am reading here lately, it wouldn’t make a difference if GOP-registered Floridians watched CNN, MSNBC or Fox News.

I did speak to my Floridian brother earlier today and he said everyone he knows and has spoken to about the upcoming primary is absolutely disgusted. Several have said they’ll not give another dime to the RNC. They’re ticked that the campaigns in the primary are giving fodder and probably an election victory to Obama. I’m not too sure that in the heat of the current battle the RNC and establishment types aren’t losing the war.

They both are guilty of using Leftist talking points to attack. But it’s rich coming from someone who started this mess by firing Leftist shots over those who wanted to reform SS and Medicare.

I remember once months ago when we were actually focused on the economy and Obama. Mitt along with Bachmann were the first to take us off that road. Congratulations Mitt...you are due some partial credit for helping make a mockery of the primary. Another wasted opportunity for the W.H. with the track record of 2008 and 2012 i wonder how everyone will screw up 2016.

Gee, from Mitt; the man who IS using the Left's playbook; and has been, for some time. Should Mitt make it to White House; will

he take it with him?

Think so. . .

Amazing; Mitt is out-Alynskying himself.

Proof positive that Romeny is a lib - always accuse your opponent of doing what it is you do and deny that you do it.
