WH:'No Constitutional Rights Issue' in Forcing Catholics to Act Against Their Faith (!!!)
CNS News ^ | 01/31/2012 | Fred Lucas

Posted on 01/31/2012 1:30:54 PM PST by Pyro7480

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says there are no “constitutional rights issues” involved in a regulation issued by the administration that requires all health-care plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.

Because the Catholic Church holds that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong and Catholic cannot be involved in them, the regulation--in combination with the Obamacare mandate that all Americans buy health insurance--will force American Catholics to choose between following the federal regulation or following the teachings of their church.

“I don’t believe there are any constitutional rights issues here,” Carney said when asked at today’s White House briefing about the regulation.

“The administration believes that this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious beliefs and increasing access to important preventative services,” Carney told reporters....

“I don’t believe there are any constitutional rights issues here,” Carney said

Is anybody really surprised about this?

These people think the Constitution is more like... guidelines.

I have written to Jay Sekulow and will keep you all informed on my progress on bringing this to all denominations of Christians who are Pro-Life. You can also watch the progress of Jays Supreme court work on Obamacare care issue. The clock is ticking, the Supreme Court of the United States is poised to hear oral arguments on ObamaCare in March. The high court’s ObamaCare decision will impact generations to come; this is the moment we have to stop the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. Join with me in signing on to the ACLJ's brief to the Supreme Court to defeat ObamaCare today. http://aclj.us/mttp

There is no salvation in the Courts. They’re the ones who started chipping away at the free exercise of religion in the first place. In the schools and now at sporting events. Also the Courts are crooked and corrupt.

Oh for Pete's sake. Literally! You're gonna fight the Antichrist in Federal Court!? lol.

Why not?

Why do you find this laugh-out-loud funny?

Do you believe it is somehow inappropriate to fight The Antichrist at every level and with every tool?

Do you have a list of appropriate tools and venues for a spiritual battle?

May we see it?

If not, why not?

According to Juan Williams, referring to the Constitution is racist!

Roger that. I saw the thread where Rush referenced this piece by Juan Williams ...

Just damn. Here's Juan ... "Race is always a trigger in politics, but now a third of the nation are people of color ... "[white is not a color Juan?]

I join with Martin Luther King, as opposed to Juan & Holder, and his timeless prayer and Dream ...

"I have a dream ... that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Sort of a side note but goes along with the theme of 0bamacare and religion....IIRC, Muslims are to be exempt from the mandates of 0bamacare, due to they do not believe in (having or paying for) insurance. Does anyone know if this is correct?

You fight them in the courts and in the political arena first. Only after failing there can we escalate to next level like civil disobedience, and only they can escalate the situation to violence.

Two things to remember:even though we are out among wolves we are instructed to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. The SCOTUS just shot another interference into religious liberty down 9-0 and 6 of the 9 justices are at least nominally Catholic- Roberts, Thomas, Scalia, Alito, Kennedy and Sotomayor- and so have some insight as to what this means to the Church.

Jay Carney, the idiot, along with his imbecile boss, Obama, think that they know better the Churches own beliefs and faith precepts better than the Church knows these.

**Newsflash** - The Church can no more dispense contraceptives or the morning after pill to non-Catholics as they can to Catholics. It does not matter if the healthcare beneficiary is Catholic or not. It is a matter of morality which the church will not and cannot selectively apply to people of different faiths or even atheists.

It is their religious belief that has not changed in the last 2000 years and the tax exempt status for these organizations which has up until now respected their religious freedom for all matters of their belief system is precedent in this matter.

Obama will lose this in the courts 9 to 0 just as he lost in the recent SCOTUS case involving the Ministerial exception issue.

Meanwhile, these Catholic institutions will, with great confidence, refuse to comply with this law and continue to provide the same health care services for their employees uninterrupted.

The level of arrogance that this administration displays is simply breathtaking.

Why shouldn’t they be able to offer health insurance, services, or hospitals?

Because they are Catholic? You are saying that can’t have those things...because they are Catholic and violate a piece of legislation?

So they don’t have that freedom any more to live their lives according to the guidelines set forth by their religion?

NO! What we are beginning to see, at least in one instance, is a hospital group, once labeled as "catholic", redefine itself and abandon the religious connection.

By hiring lawyers?

First you were going to pool Christian monies to hire that talk show guy and some Judicial Watch talking head to file a lawsuit against someone or something because of an offhand opinion a press agent made. Now you're throwing demons out of the "halls of justice?" Is that down the street from the Halls of Tripoli?

Catholics have been squeezed out of the education business one way or the other. Now they will be squeezed out of the medical care business, adoption business or anything else that may have Catholic name association. Only the Church building will remain as the Alamo.

The Amish do not carry health insurance. The government respects their principles. Christian Scientists want to heal by prayer alone, and the new health-care reform law respects that. Quakers and others object to killing even in wartime, and the government respects that principle for conscientious objectors. By its decision, the Obama administration has failed to show the same respect for the consciences of Catholics and others who object to treating pregnancy as a disease.

This latest erosion of our first freedom should make all Americans pause. When the government tampers with a freedom so fundamental to the life of our nation, one shudders to think what lies ahead.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says there are no “constitutional rights issues” involved in a regulation issued by the administration that requires all health-care plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.

On the contrary, it is a blatant encroachment of the religious freedom.

If someone, anyone, wants to buy contraceptive pills or any other form of contraception, she has to pay for it herself.

No religious organization, either Catholic, Baptist, Jewish or any other, which would violate its beliefs, can be mandated to pay for it.

Hussein, take your law and shove it where the sun don't shine.

What he's gonna do, when ALL those organizations will refuse to comply? I'd like to see that.

IT’S WORTH REMINDING EVERYONE HOW THIS MONSTROSITY BECAME THE LAW OF THE LAND, AND WHO IS MOST RESPONSIBLE:

JUST READ THE LAST PARAGRAPH IF YOU DON’T WANT TO WADE THROUGH THE WHOLE THING:

Evil, or just Stupid?

October/November 2009 and ObamaCare was stalled in the House, the main sticking point being government funded abortions. There were enough Dems opposed to abortion that refused to vote for the ObamaCare if it contained any abortion language that it would not pass.

Representative Stupak (D) MI introduced his amendment that prohibited any government money from ObamaCare bill being used to fund abortions. This essentially would end all abortions, as no medical procedures outside the ObamaCare System can be done. No going to a doctor and paying him directly for anything. Thus, with his amendment, ALL abortions would be illegal.

This amendment to the House bill, if it passed, would give the above ‘Pro-Life’ Democrats a green light to vote for the ObamaCare bill.

Not enough Democrats supported the Stupak Amendment for it to pass. Many Democrats were vociferously opposed to it. It could only pass with Republican votes.

National Right to Life favored the Stupak Amendment, and insisted that Republicans vote for it. Further, they threatened any Republican who didn’t vote for it with their active opposition to that Republican during the 2010 fall election.

The Republicans caved, even those who could see the eventual outcome, right down to the last man. One hundred percent voted for the Stupak Amendment, along with a bunch of Dems who were opposed to abortions. Stupak handily passed.

Nobody believed the Amendment would stick; eventually it would/will be overridden in some fashion and Government funded abortion would become part of ObamaCare. Abortion is the Prime Sacrament of the Left, and will not be denied government funding, let alone be made illegal.

With a green light, the ’Pro-Life’ Dems could vote for ObamaCare, and although many hard-line Leftists were angry, enough of them also could see the end game, and agreed to vote pass ObamaCare.

A couple days later ObamaCare passed the House.

Everyone knew how this would play out, and it did. Rush spoke about it on his show.

I am of the opinion even National Right to Life knew it would play out this way. I’m not aware of anyone who thought otherwise. That leaves us with two opinions of their leadership;

The NRTL is Stupid Strategy;

1. They are so locked into their ‘stop abortion at all costs’ viewpoint that they can’t operate with a strategy that goes beyond 24 hours. Liberals like to say that ‘conservatives are stupid and easily lead’, this situation is circumstantial proof that Leftists are right from time to time. This is the NRTL Stupid Strategy.
OR

The NRTL is Evil Strategy;

2. They were in cahoots with the Pro-Abort crowd on this, and were complicit in getting ObamaCare passed in the House, ObamaCare which will include a monthly premium from all of us to fund abortions. This would be the NRTL Evil Strategy.

Either way, too stupid, or just evil, they are unfit to lead the movement to reduce or end abortions. Their thuggish actions have brought us to the brink of the enslavement of 300 million Americans, ending of the most advanced medical care in the entire history of the world, and will lead, ironically, to Chinese style government mandated and government funded abortions.

I am unaware of any other organization which has played such a pivotal role against Americans and babies in the ObamaCare fight as National Right to Life has.

This book, "Blood-Drenched Alters", covers the same topic as the movie and starts with early Mexican history in order to build up to what the movie covers. In so doing, you find that contrary to the revisionist history, Mexico wasn't backwards compared to other countries when the Mexican government outlawed the Catholic Church. It's an excellent book IMHO, and covers in detail the mindset of "progressives" dedicated to freedom from religion and where that has led in the past.

In the events leading up to the subject of the movie that was linked to you can see exactly the same sort of propaganda being spread by the "progressives" and the exactly the same sort promised wonderful results as we've seen in this country. Sometimes what the anti-Catholics were saying back then sounds like it could be a press release from the "progressives" in this country these days. Just as the political group that had long dominated Mexican politics pushed things over the edge into clear and direct attacks on The Church, that's exactly what we're seeing in this country where the democrat fascist party has been the majority party with control of the Federal government for most of the past eighty years.

Those who have for so long been in power are not going to let something like the Bill of Rights get in their way and have no intention of losing that power just because they lose control of Congress or otherwise lose Constitutional authority to govern. The Catholic Church stands between them and their goals, and so the Catholic Church will be attacked by whatever means they can bring to bear. They see themselves as the rightful rulers and they'll do what it takes to retain control of the levers of power in order to reach their goals, eugenics based goals they've had for over a century.

I originally posted this on the prayer thread, but I think it bears posting again.

"These are the times that try men's souls."
(The Crisis, Thomas Paine, December 23, 1776)

Indeed these are 'the times' ..... right now in 2012. Although the process has been ongoing for years, it has become ever more apparent in the events of the last three years and crystal clear in the last two weeks, that everything our Founding Fathers fought for and obtained for us at the cost of their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor" 236 years ago, has almost slipped away from our grasp.

Tyranny has returned. Its most recent manifestation is the HHS ruling that has put the government squarely between our First Amendment rights and our religion. The government would force us to go against our conscience and our God. The government has been gradually taking away from us our 'unalienable Rights', those endowed to us by our Creator ..... life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are not rights given by the government, but given to us as a gift from God.

Paine said in 'The Crisis':

"Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God." (Note: wherever you see "Britain" just substitute "U.S. Government")

Plain and simple, we have waited too long to act and the penalty for our acquiescence over the years, our mostly silent acceptance of the imposition of tyranny, is that we are going to have to pay the high price for FREEDOM again. Now we shall have to fight to take our country back, but when will 'We the People" have the will to fight? As Patrick Henry said, in his 'Liberty or Death' speech:

"They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength but irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? ........ The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged!"

The "delusive phantom of hope". Patrick Henry, in 1775, makes a better argument than our politicians in 2012 against the brand of "hope" we've been force-fed for the last three years. The time is NOW. As Jim Robinson says, "the Rebellion is ON, join or die." It's not a platitude, it's the TRUTH. Churchill said:

"Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

So what does this have to do with a prayer thread? It's been a bit of a hike to get here, but the bottom line is that our very souls are at stake, as is the soul of America. Are we going to betray God and continue to go along to get along with what we know is evil and wicked? God says "But if any nation does not listen, I will completely uproot and destroy it. ”(Jeremiah 12:17) God also says "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."(2 Chronicles 7:14)

We need God's help. We cannot do this alone. We are God's soldiers in this fight against the evil and wickedness that has invaded the very fabric of our culture and is bringing America to her knees. We need to get on our knees to keep America off of hers. God is with us, He loves us, He loves this country and has blessed it. Let us gather ourselves in prayer and then commit ourselves to action.

"Nobody compels a Catholic organization to offer health insurance"

I'm sorry, but didn't you notice that Obamacare mandates that most employers must carry health insurance for their employees? And if they drop the insurance, they're hit with huge fines and penalties?

You don't see that that's that's coercion or compulsion?

Seriously?

....increasing access to important preventative services,” Carney told reporters....

Preventative services would include belonging to a Christian Church. Bet that doesn’t go over to well at the whitehouse.

I finished my 25 year military career in a country that did the same thing with churches, only to return to the US to find we’re headed down the same path.

And multitudes of FReepers threaten to sit out the election if their man does not receive the nomination.

What about this is difficult to understand? Obama makes us ALL complicit in the abortion holocaust.

I call on every FReeper to leave off with the “I will never vote.....” You are playing right into his diabolical hands.

NOTE TO the presidential liar’s mouth piece, in our Constitution, the government is NOT allowed to do anything that is not enumerated in the Constitution. If the Constitution is silent on an issue the people retain their rights on that issue and the government is FORBIDDEN from doing it.

No wonder they don’t want citizens to be taught the real history behind the Constitution and the Federalist Papers.

In simple terms so the genetically inferior president and his minions can understand; If it is not in there the government can’t do it.

Probably. I can see the Old North Bridge coming into view.

That law is not yet in effect.

Additionally, any organization can STOP providing healthcare under the new law...and save money.

Now, it's not coercion.

"So they don’t have that freedom any more to live their lives according to the guidelines set forth by their religion?"

It's a non sequitor.

They can provide, or not provide health insurance.

If they do provide health insurance they must do so in accordance with the law.

It sucks, but it's not a Constitutional issue.

“What part of “Congress shall make no law” does he not understand ?”

Forget the law, winged1. We’re way beyond the law with this thing infesting our Whitehouse. These thugs in Washington don’t obey the rule of law or the Constitution. Why should we obey any “laws” they decree?

We’re heading for Lexington 2.0. Prepare, good buddy.
