According to Trump advisor Michael Cohen, "Donald J. Trump will be making a major announcement tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Trump International Hotel & Tower, Las Vegas, Nevada... The announcement will pertain to the Presidential race."

I’m sincerely fighting back a deep-seated streak of cynicism, but frankly, if Mitt is the candidate, why should I give a @!$# if Trump jumps in or not?

We need several Trumps to come forward and support a candidate who has more than just "working in the 'private sector,'" money, a verse or two of a patriotic song, and a few Reagan phrases to offer as qualifications for rescuing America from the brink of disaster.

If enough voters can be rounded up to beat Obama in the Fall, then they must first have a candidate who can articulate conservative principles in a manner that says to each citizen, "You have a Creator-endowed right to life, liberty, and the property you work for and earn as you freely pursue happiness. That's the most valuable thing your elected officials can protect for you. Remember, whatever they "take" from someone else to give to you, they can then "take" from you to give to their next target audience. Don't ever forget that. Go study your Declaration of Independence and Constitution and the writings and speeches of men who framed them. Those two documents are the tools by which you should measure us, and the limits to which you should hold us accountable to you."

If a nominee cannot help to educate and inform citizens as a means of contrasting Obama's ideology with the ideas of liberty on which our nation was founded, then he will not likely beat Obama.

Charles Krauthammer spoke again on the FoxReport tonight about Romney's inability to explain conservative ideas. He is correct, and that kind of weakness is not to be remedied by coaches or advisors.

There have been many business leaders over the past 3 or 4 decades who have become wealthy in the free enterprise system, have become aware of government intrusion and destruction of that system, and have spent millions of dollars and years of their lives working on behalf of preserving its principles.

Romney does not appear to be one of those. Benefitting from the system, without devoting time to helping conserve the principles underlying it, does not qualify one to be the leader of the Republic.

He does. Lots and lots of money, something Newt's campaign needs very badly right now to survive the Mittwits' attacks all the way to the convention.

I happen to LOVE Trump’s “in yer face” attitude. His kind of very direct, non-PC talk, is exactly what this country needs. In fact, he was one of the ones who initially pushed me right to Newt in the first place in this race since Newt is also very direct and obviously not afraid to step on some toes to get things done.

I agree. Unfortunately, many here making stupid comments regarding Trump know nothing about the man and how he started with nothing to become a billionaire. As for ego, yeah, he's got one. How many here would back another loser like Bob Dole?

I hope he really does support Newt and will act as his pitbull and do the bashing that needs doing. He can be very entertaining when he goes after someone. He's a real fighter, like Newt.

I agree. Unfortunately, many of the clueless get their info from watching silly game shows like Trump's. He's one tough businessman who doesn't take any crap from anyone. That's a perk of being independently wealthy. Hopefully, he'll dump $40-50 million into Gingrich's campaign.

In short, an effective communicator offering solutions to real problems facing US business.

If Romney wins the nomination. Considering the level of disdain that the rank & file conservatives have for Romney and the draw that a Trump would have on independents and disaffected Rats. Romney might finish third. Unfortunately I think Zero would win, but Trump would be competitive and Romney would not be!

I hate to say this, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think Trump is backing Gingrich figuring he's going to lose. This will be his excuse to run as a 3rd party against Romney and Obama, hoping he'll pick up the pissed off conservative base.

Well, in case you weren't paying attention, a butt-load of us are not voting for Mitt either in the Primaries or the General.

We don't vote for Liberals, period!

“Well if he does, he has a bigger pair than some of our so called conservative leaders (Radio Pundits).”

I’ve been depressed about this too, The Cajun. Listening to Hannity and Rush today. Hannity praising Romney for his win.
Rush reminding us that Bam is the enemy. Wussy and a duh!

A terrible day after having two GOP “leaders” in my face for two days calling me a traitor for taking a stand against Romney.
Well lo and behold. I tune in to the ONLY real Conservative talk show host..who is fearless to boot:Mark Levin...

And he is ripping , ripping Romney,”What exactly was his Conservative message that got him so many votes in Fla?” Romney Care and Ann Coulter. It is so refreshing. I highly rec. that you Freepers listen to his first hour today.
It’s free on Marklevinshow.com

He’s still lambasting Ann...taking apart her column “Three Cheers for Romneycare” line by line. What a dufus to have written that...Does she think it’s going to help her buddy?
GO Mark and you’re welcome here in FR anytime!

Looking forward to the second hour. We have a radio talk show host ally, peeps..and it’s Mark.
Yhello? Yhello?
Get off the phone ya big dope!!!

I hope that is the case. I agree an endorsement is not a major announcement. And it is too early to tell of "his candidate" will win. Every time there has been a frontrunner, he or she has been knocked down.

Whatever, I will vote whoever wins the GOP nomination, even if it is somebody I dislike. Just think of more of Eric Holder and the lawsuits against the states. None of the 4 GOP candidates would ever go that far. Only secret Obama supporters here would try to convince us to go 3rd party.

I'm no Trump fan. I would have thought Trump would be more likely to endorse Romney.

However, Josh Painter is absolutely right — Gingrich needs money, he needs money, both quickly to turn the campaign around and for the long term to carry the fight to the convention. If you're going up against a self-funded multimillionare candidate, having another multimillionare backing you is a huge benefit.

Gingrich deserves congratulations if this report proves to be true.

Actually, it could be worth a lot. Trump is connected to all kinds of big money people, many of who would normally support the D candidate but who are disappointed in Obama. Trump might pull together the funding syndicate Newt will need to stave off Romney and then Obama. Money is the only serious advantage Romney has enjoyed, Trump theoretically could neutralize that. Or Newtralize, as it were.

The cool thing is even if Newt loses, this leaves Trump open to a third party run without having to contradict himself. Which means either way we should be able to keep Mitt out of the White House and dash the little music man’s hopes on some sharp rocks. Now if he picks Newt as V.P., his ticket might even have a chance to win.

Now you know why so many are boycotting Drudge. He’s been in the tank for Romney for YEARS, since the last primary. The guy has thrown his conservative credibility out the window almost as much as Coulter.

At any rate, I remember Mitt refused to attend Trump’s cancelled debate in December. I’m sure that didn’t help sway Trump’s endorsement.

It sure is cool that Newt has the endorsement of so many dynamic, interesting, creative, successful people while Mitt garners the endorsement largely of garden variety political hacks.

One last thing that I just posted on the other thread...

If Trump endorses Newt, it isn't so much about getting him votes as it is, Trump be able to strong arm his ultra wealthy contacts, that possibly owe him, to donate too. An endorsement like Trump brings in money, and hopefully votes to follow.
