President Barack Obama tied his proposal to raise taxes on wealthy Americans to his faith on Thursday, telling leaders gathered for the National Prayer Breakfast that Jesus’ teachings have led him to that conclusion.
The rich pay more not only because “I actually think that is going to make economic sense, but for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’s teaching that ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.’” Obama said at the Washington Hilton, delivering remarks at an annual event that every president has attended since Dwight D. Eisenhower.
“We can all benefit from turning to our creator, listening to him,” Obama said. “Avoiding phony religiosity…. This is especially important right now when we’re facing some big challenges as a nation.”
“When I talk about our financial institutions playing by the same rules as folks on Main Street, when I talk about making sure insurance companies aren’t discriminating against those who are already sick or making sure that unscrupulous lenders aren’t taking advantage of most vulnerable among us,” Obama said, “I do so because I genuinely believe it will make the economy stronger for everybody, but I also do it because I know far too many neighbors in our country have been hurt and treated unfairly over the last few years. And I believe in God’s command to ‘love thy neighbor as thyself.’”

If you liked him as an individual until today, then you really didn’t do your homework. He was always a despicable a$$H%#e.
That says it all, correctly, precisely, and factually.
I had my suspicions when Obama spoke of the Christian experience as a collective salvation. That is not to assume Obama is a Muslim but it does prove to me he is not a Christian.
You are being too charitable to 0.
He indeed does believe in the “doctrines” of collective sin and collective salvation.
It’s nothing more than humanism, the belief that humans have the calling to create heaven on earth through works and molding societies.
Christians understand that it is more compassionate to encourage men capable of work to work than to give them handouts because the Bible makes it clear that the only way to truly escape poverty is through hard labor. Because a system of giving aid to the poor by taxing the rich,is a system that encourages people to become dependent on the dole, that robs the poor of any incentive to seek ways of helping themselves, that leads the poor into a poverty trap, is hardly a model of genuine compassion or of wise public policy.And also, the rich are the creators of most of the new wealth which aids all of society,including the poor, and taxing them is an assault on that process.

God, Jesus looks at our intent for giving not how much we have been given.
Then again, Barry is found of twisting the Bible for his own use.

Jesus doesn’t save. He just redistributes!
But the tired old, Jesus was a gentle, kind, turn-the-other-cheek, soft spoken leader stuff drives me crazy.
Jesus Christ was (my belief) a STRONG leader. He had to be charismatic in word and action. He was dynamic in his leadership able to preach to children, sinners, the faithful and yes, his foes, alike. He was an activist. He took action to protect and defend others who were being treated unjustly. He was bold to take on a crowd stoning a prostitute. They could have turned on him. He took violent action at the temple. He spoke harshly of the preferred demise of those who would bring sin upon a child.
In his day, Religion was a part of politics, at least for Jews under Roman Rule. The Romans allowed the high priests to govern their own as long as they also collected the taxes, followed the rules and let none disparage Rome or the King.
Jesus went after the high priest, the hypocrites. He road into Jerusalem on a donkey with followers adoring him with palms, as he was their king. It was an insult to Jewish leaders that he should be mocking the arrival of a king.
Jesus knew what he was doing and why this would be his last days. He was, of course, God. And he took it on, as a man, with all the flair, stink, pain and suffering mortality has to offer.
Jesus was no pacifist that just went along with any old thing. I believe Jesus would be phoning the White House to explain to BO how he F’d up that whole “Breakfast Bit.”
But that's just what I believe and love about Jesus. What an awesome example of how to live!
Now he´s the Christian In Chief too.
And to talk about "phony religiosity" from the guy that learned about Jesus from Rev.Wrong!!!

The Thirty-nine Articles of the Anglican Church includes this one (no. 38):
XXXVIII. Of Christian men’s goods which are not common.
THE riches and goods of Christians are not common, as touching the right, title, and possession of the same, as certain Anabaptists do falsely boast; notwithstanding every man ought of such things as he possesseth liberally to give alms to the poor, according to his ability.
What he overlooks in such a broad pronouncement is:
1. Such coercive "taking" is implemented by imperfect persons in positions of power in government;
2. Individuals in the society, motivated by the teachings of Jesus, might do far more good with individual charity, if left free to do so;
3. When coercively taken from some and "redistributed" to others, the gratitude (if any) for such redistributed gifts is directed to government, not God, or to whichever tyrant chooses such a method as a vote-getting mechanism;
4. Free will of individuals is a central teaching in most Christian sects, which introduces a question about coerced "charity" if it travels under the banner of Christianity.
Just some questions which might bear discussion, since the President has introduced the topic.
I think you missunderstand me. As the seat holder of the office of the president, I'll give the human there a wide birth (no pun intended). I have not been concerned with the viceral BS that might be his beliefs, though I think are anti-american. I don't care enough about him to classify or consider his likability.
If Obama showed up on my lawn, I'd call 911 to report a tresspasser.
Today, I dislike him in a fashion that I would call to report an intruder.
Just some insight into the liberal mindset/worldview - they believe that persons in positions of power in government are inherently more "perfect" than the masses they are ruling over.
Talks about the lucky rich needing to give back.
