Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney for president Thursday, saying he's impressed by the Republican candidate's debate prowess and believes he could easily beat President Obama in November.
"Mitt is tough. He's smart. He's sharp. He's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love," Trump said in Las Vegas, telling the candidate to "go out and get 'em."
The real estate mogul, speaking briefly with reporters before the announcement, said that even though he "never knew" Romney before the race began, he's come to know him in recent months.
"His general attitude and the last two debates were very impressive," Trump said.
He also cited Romney's position on China, calling the former Massachusetts governor

Actually it is the DNC and 0bama who wants Romney to be the nominee
No, just a shrewdly successful businessman.
He succeeded in spite of himself., and thus rivals Obama. ;-)
Mikey liked him.
OMG that is the funniest post of the day! LOL
No surprize...he waited until he thought he knew who would win. For the most part Trump is a big phoney!!!
I get the celebrity rich guy thing, and that’s all I consider him to be. I don’t know why his political endoresement carries any more weight than any other celebrity’s would. I’m assuming there’s stuff he’s involved in that goes on behind the scenes, because a number of the candidates paid him a visit. Publicly, he has his opinions and that’s fine. But that aside, I’ve always just considered him an egotist and a blowhard and, politically, a potential demagogue.
I know there’s been a desire among a lot of conservatives for a person with business experience. There’s no doubt he has that. But as someone on the radio here pointed out, Trump has managed to accomplish something that is nearly impossible — he bankrupted two casinos.
I think you might be on to something...
That comment is telling and explains much. Most don't vote by the "flavor of the month" endorsement.
They nominated an Arizona one!!!
Might as well be Bozo the Clown. It matters very little to me.
I don’t see TV much, so I can only guess it’s because he’s brash and opinionated and, these days, that’s what passes for intelligent political talk.
How I miss William F. Buckley, Jr. and “Firing Line”!
While I admit to enjoying the fuss he stirred up with Obama’s birth certificate, I never made the mistake of thinking he was anything but an attention whore rich enough to buy his own microphone.
I was not particularly thrilled by the treads yesterday that said he was going to endorse Newt, I am not particularly upset about the his decision to endorse Mitt.
Really people, can you imagine ANYONE saying “Ohhhh, The Donald has endorsed Romney! That settles it for me!”
And, seriously, can you imagine Romney standing up in front of a crowd bragging about bagging Trump’s endorsement? Heck, Mitt would probably have preferred he endorse Newt! The last thing he needs is to have everyone reminded about how rich he is.
I heard that Trump said if Romney wins the nomination he would not run as an independent. Did he really say this?
If he did then anyone still supporting Trump needs to wake up. This guy is working with the left to influence the election and get Obama reelected. That little kabuki theater stunt with the birth certificate awhile back should have been enough to convince any conservative with more than a room temperature IQ.
Well that explains it then...so does Romney.
Not so sure iif this helps or hinders either candidate though Trump stands to gain no matter how he plays it...after all he IS a player. Makes ya wanna go hummmmm.
It doesn’t figure to me, at all! I thought for sure Trump knew mitt is weak. I wonder exactly what is going on behind the scene. 3rd party - I see it coming.
I like your comment very much.
That said there is really only one political maneuver that will trump the Trump endorsement...the endorsement of Newt by Palin. That would take the Romney endorsement by Trump off the front pages immediately. (BTW, I've never been a big Palin fan or Newt fan, but Romney isn't the person we need in the White House.)
Respectfully submitted on this date:
“Why is it whenever you post something about Myth Romney I get the suspicion you really support him?”
Simple answer, I support and defend every one of the possible republican nominees. Have defended Palin, Cain, Newt, Rick, Perry, Romney.
In this case I am more reminding us not to adopt liberal leftist arguments.
Romney’s biggest problem in a nutshell is he was a liberal on many issues in Mass. Therefore my distrust of him is from a conservative direction. I’m willing to accept him as a conversion/ political opportunist or whatever he is if need be. Meaning if he is nominated.
Have said many times Santorum is the true consistent conservative up there.
Protect GS - didn't think of that.
I think she’s gone downhill since she got remarried. I actually think she’s worse than Sheppard Smith, AND HE SUCKS!!!
Wait til Hollywood comes center stage for Bambi! The news pundits will have them on simply for the ratings....
Three ring circus...and round and round they go!
Donny, you’re fired!
Hey, I resemble that remark!! :) LOL.
I hope it turns into a negative for Mitt.
No big deal. That and two dollars will buy Mit a cup of coffee.
As he continues to buy his windows, etc. from China for his projects.
the donald is looking forward to the 2016 race... his show won’t be sustainable and he’ll be ready to take the reigns...
mitt will not get the nomination from the people... he’s steadily at 30-40 % and if he walks into a brokered convention, and gets it, the people will know the fix is in.
newt isn’t a shoe in, and will bring a lot of fence sitters out to vote for the won, but i can’t see anyone not being able to beat the cause of our constriction...
i will vote for mitt over obama, but it will mean the end of the republican party... after obama is out... only tea party conservatives from then on.
I hope he is not mad, and if he is, I hope he has sense enough to swallow it and move on doing what he is good at...articulating the conservative agenda and the big plans for taking our country back in a confident, yet friendly way...like Reagan did.
If he gets mad and acts on it, the Romney and Trumpwill have played him like a fiddle.
Newt does not need Trump. For Heaven’s sake, Trump has no morals when it comes to fidelity and is a person who is going to expect pay back and loyalty for “gracing” you with his support.
We do not need Trump.
to be honest I never watch FOX anymore, thee is only Hmmer who is alright and that awful show at Five with Beckel Perino, Tantaros, the guy who thinks he is funny is unwatchable for me.
Bolling is alright
There's so much bartering going on and will be increasing as this year moves along....I bet behind the scenes it looks like a flipping hurricane of activity we'll never see.
I’m with you manc...I don’t watch Faux anymore either.
Screw them, sideways.
It’s pretty good actually. We are SO screwed!!!!!
Oh I don't think so...at least not on FR....they know who Trump is and about. It's great political theater and the news agencies will love the drama.
I'm livid...Hannity has McCain on and agreeing with him....so much for Hannity/Fox....the push for Romney is full throttle now.
“only tea party conservatives from then on.”
I agree. Whether its Obama the European Socialist or Romney the Placeholder. By 2016, there will be lots of Tea Party backed governors and Congressmen with a record to run on. History may show that people are finally ready for a third party....
Newt said the same thing about China and said it way before the debates. In fact, my doctor told me. Anyone, Newt is the one who would do it. The only thing that makes sense is the powers that be got to him. He has his properties/business all over - and this is more of protecting what he has. Integrity isn’t his strong trait. They can make it hell for him w/doing business.
He should never have been considered a hero on this site to begin with. It is stunning what is considered “great” around here.
If they do, this is one Pennsylvanian Conservative that won't be voting for the RINO.
Name one who has done so????? Nobody wins on their merits alone...never.
We’re being played by everyone of them. Some of the class of 2010 played us. They saw an opportunity to get to congress to cash in.
We all might as well go ahead and throw up and get it over with. Before it’s over Sarah will be cam”pain”ing with Mitts. As will Newt. As will Bachman. As will Santorum. As will Cain if he’s wanted. Ron Paul is the only one who won’t be playing.
And don’t be surprised if Steve Wynn endorses Romney.
Then come 2013, obama is sworn in for a second term and we watch it all go away.
So now it’s Sarah against Trump! I thought they liked each other...so much for the theory that they in on it together (my theory.)
As soon as I can!
Combover boy is kind of a unique case for me. I find him to be such a slimy piece of crap that it would cause me to question the judgment of anyone who would accept his endorsement.
“I wonder where those Freepers on here who were passionately backing a Donald Trump presidential candidacy last summer have all gone?”
They’re still here. Just hoping no one knows how to use the search engine.
Where are all of those who were declaring Trump to be a hero yesterday when it was thought he was endorsing Newt?
Romney’s people maybe told Trump he will never build anything again if he endorsed Newt.
There’s one post that has made me laugh today. Thanks FRiend, I needed that :^)
Newt’s campaign said they didn’t know anything about a Trump endorsement, and why would they? After all, he was speaking with the Trump campaign, not Gingrich’s. Most likey this was another case of Romney’s little minions feeding crap to the press just to embarrass Newt.
