Ryan.

He knows numbers, he presents himself well, he is a good speaker, he is young and attractive, he is relatively unknown and seems to be fairly clean.

He would be an excellent candidate.

It won’t work.

Romney has been running for seven years plus, he will not free up his delegates to vote for someone else.

All a brokered convention means is Romney and the GOP-E start buying delegates until they have enough.

Chaffetz is supporting Romney, right?

Jeb Bush is head and shoulders above the field. He is NOT his brother who was a big disappointment. I think Jeb is much smarter, more seasoned, and was a great governor of FLA. Just ask the people there. They should know. Of course not all liked him, but he was known as a popular governor and had the majority with him.

Jindal is spineless and sticks a moistened finger in the air to figure out what side he should take. He’d get run over by the Democratic leadership in D.C. and their minions in the media.

I’d take Paul Ryan over all.

Some very good men have been nominated because of brokered conventions, Garfield, Harding, Coolidge...

I alienated the GOP-E’s by telling them I won’t vote for Romney. In my area, they are the ones who decide.
Is there another way to become a delegate?

What evidence do you have of that?

Not necessarily, the delegates certainly don’t have to vote for an establishment candidate, the process can continue for as many rounds as necessary. I sure wouldn’t vote for the establisment candidate unless I felt the candidate was a good one. (I was an alternate delegate four years ago so this is quite real to me.)

My bet - there is little chance of a brokered convention.

I have seen his mother attack Sarah Palin, I saw him sitting with his dad in the oval office last week with Obama, I know he and his family endorse the Dream act for illegals probably because he is married to a Hispanic.

Jeb may indeed be smarter than his brother , but I wasn’t all that dissappointed in his brother until he came up with the TARP plan.George could not have been all wrong since when Obama became President he still used Bush’s plans for foreign policy.

As I said I have seen enough Bush’s to last me a lifetime. I believe most of us have.

Good for you - however, as to becoming a delegate, probably not.

I’ve been a delegate several times - and when I got there - I voted the way I wanted to...

Good point about involvement. A brokered convention will go much better for conservatives if conservatives are the ones in the delegate seats.

Unfortunately, I live in Virginia, and the slate of delegates is set, and it’s either Romney’s slate or Paul’s slate. But there are certainly other states where the delegates are up for grabs.

We can figure out who to vote for when we get closer and we know it’s brokered. IN the meantime, the key is to deny Romney delegates, by voting, especially in proportional states where both our candidates can compete together and hurt Romney (like in Nevada, where Gingrich and Santorum could both compete and the more votes either of them get, the fewer delegates Romney will end up with).

Well first Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal are not eligible and as far as I know are not running.

I’d stick with Newt. He will hit the ground running on day one. Mitt will form a committee to study all the problems for a year or so.
