Komen to continue funding some Planned Parenthood chapters?

Update: Climbdown? Komen is claiming now that it’s not that the congressional investigation that gave them pause about PP but rather the fact that PP wasn’t doing enough mammograms on site.

"So why did Planned Parenthood lose funding? Brinker says it has to do with the fact that they do not provide mammograms to women, but only provide mammogram referrals. “It was nothing they were doing wrong,” she explained. “We have decided not to fund, whereever possible, pass-through grants. We were giving them money, they were sending women out for mammograms. What we would like to have are clinics where we can directly fund mammograms.”

This is the real reason they should not fund pp.

Abortion, Miscarriage, and Breast Cancer Risk

Introduction

A woman’s hormone levels normally change throughout her life for a variety of reasons, and these hormonal changes can lead to changes in her breasts. Many such hormonal changes occur during pregnancy, changes that may influence a woman’s chances of developing breast cancer later in life. As a result, over several decades a considerable amount of research has been and continues to be conducted to determine whether having an induced abortion, or a miscarriage (also known as spontaneous abortion), influences a woman’s chances of developing breast cancer later in life.

Current Knowledge

In February 2003, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) convened a workshop of over 100 of the world’s leading experts who study pregnancy and breast cancer risk. Workshop participants reviewed existing population-based, clinical, and animal studies on the relationship between pregnancy and breast cancer risk, including studies of induced and spontaneous abortions. They concluded that having an abortion or miscarriage does not increase a woman’s subsequent risk of developing breast cancer. A summary of their findings can be found in the Summary Report: Early Reproductive Events and Breast Cancer Workshop.

NCI regularly reviews and analyzes the scientific literature on many topics, including various risk factors for breast cancer. Considering the body of literature that has been published since 2003, when NCI held this extensive workshop on early reproductive events and cancer, the evidence overall still does not support early termination of pregnancy as a cause of breast cancer. To view regular updates on this topic, please go to the Breast Cancer PDQ® summary, which is part of NCI’s comprehensive database.

The number of people who now know about Komen’s support of Abortion Incorporated just shot through the roof over the past few days. It’s something the Demedia has successfully covered up until now.

Wonder if Komen will now return all the donations they’ve recently gotten.

It was all a scam.

Korman cut off funding for Planned Parenthood and within a day, Korman received additional donations and Planned Parenthood received donations which are greater than what Korman had previously donated.

Korman and Planned Parenthood conspired to extract additional donations from Pro Life and Pro Abortion activists.

This is weird. The govern, ent site has been changed. Every study shows miscarriage and abortion are linked to higher rates of breast cancer.

The Biological Explanation

How does an abortion leave a woman with more cancer-vulnerable cells in her breasts than she had before she became pregnant? We offer two versions of the biological rationale for the abortion-breast cancer link: a Brief Summary and the longer Detailed Explanation.

Sure looks like it. They suckered in Pro-Lifers to donate money for abortions.

Everybody at FR has known about it for years.

Now, regarding the lead story, it's noteworthy that it began with Andrea Mitchell interviewing an ex-employee ~ a member of the Komen board.

Two others tell the same story ~ to wit, that it was all about "investigations" ~ and "right wing pressure" ~ but those two tell the same story as the woman who supposedly resigned. There is so far absolutely no evidence that either of them were at the meeting where the defund PP policy was announced.

Komen came out with their story today ~ to wit, that Planned Parenthood does not provide breast exams.

What we have is a DAN RATHER MOMENT. This time the reporter is Andrea Mitchell and she wants Dan's old job (or one like it).

There's no there, there, but Andrea had her friends in Planned Parenthood undertake a write in campaign all over the country condemning Komen and praising Planned Parenthood.

I think there's another story lurking here ~ that is why did PP get any Komen money in the first place. Did PP have an agent of influence on the Komen board perhaps? Was this all an improper conversion of Komen funds?

This was a reason from the beginning. PP is the one who broke the story in their own way for their own reasons and didn’t want the public to know that they really don’t do mammograms for anyone but just give women vouchers. SGK has restructured their grants and now want to give the money directly to the providers. Much more efficient. They are honoring the grants that they already have made and will continue to fund PP if PP is the only way in small rural communities for SGK to get money out there fore mammograms but I’m guessing that they are inviting grants from providers, i.e., small hospitals and clinics to buy their own machines. That’s what’s happening in my county. Free walk in clinics to get a mammogram.

I could be wrong, but when I first started looking into this connection about 6 monhts, I believe I read somewhere that Brinker was on Planned Parenthood Board or at least personally connected to it somehow.
