The Mormon moment
Politico ^ | February 2, 2012 | MJ Lee

Posted on 02/03/2012 9:47:56 AM PST by C19fan

As Mitt Romney solidifies his frontrunner status with a double-digit win this week in the Florida Republican primary, Mormons are embracing a unique moment in their political history that has been dubbed the “Mormon moment” — but not without concerns about what the increasing prominence could mean for their community.

In extensive interviews with 10 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who live and work in the D.C.-area, POLITICO discovered a close-knit community that is enjoying, granted with some reservations, the national spotlight that Romney’s second White House bid is helping to shine on Mormons across the country.

Last month, the Pew Research Center released a 125-page report titled “Mormons in America” that surveyed over 1,000 members of the LDS Church. According to the poll, the majority of Mormons across the country, 63 percent, said they believe acceptance of their religion is on the rise.

Also unbiblical. Not surprising.

“I went into the church library to prove a referenced quote, posted here by Greyfoxx39, where Joseph Smith claimed to be greater than Jesus Christ a lie. Of course I found, in their own books, that she was telling the truth....And in a matter of hours, once I had the courage to look and see, the entire foundation of my life, being built of sand, washed away. AFTER I had abandoned the heresies, THEN I was ready to be saved by Christ”

Tis a glorious testimony of grace and I never tire of hearing it!

The lds-org denies that Jesus is the Creator, that everything was created THROUGH Him, BY Him and FOR Him.

They deny that Jesus created even the angels out of nothing.

When they say the word "Jesus", it is a false idea they are promoting.

The MSM will SHRED them with thier own secrets in defense of Obama, and this in turn will free millions of members from the cult and bring new conversions to near zero !

What a great point, and logic dictates that it's true.

People who think that Newt Gingrich's ideas about private enterprise investing in space exploration are nutty? Well, let's just say, they ain't heard nothing yet.

FLDS/LDS Pearl of Great Price, Book of Abraham Chapter 4:

1 And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.

2 And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters.

3 And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light; and there was light.

Your founding peepstone sexual predator of married women didn't teach that Jesus is The Creator of all things. Here are a few quotes of what LDS inc has taught, from Joey and friends, to get you started:

"We were begotten by our Father in Heaven; the person of our Father in Heaven was begotten on a previous heavenly world by His Father; and again, He was begotten by a still more ancient Father; and so on, from generation to generation, ... we wonder in our minds, how far back the genealogy extends, and how the first world was formed, and the first father was begotten" (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p.132).

In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people it. (Joseph Smith, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p. 5, 1844)

Smith's worldview of time as it pertains to the gods: Smith believed in a "beginning" that was operative before the Mormon plan to the create this world. The question becomes, who is the head of the Gods as pertains to this ‘council of gods?

In the very beginning the Bible shows there is a plurality of Gods beyond the power of refutation. It is a great subject I am dwelling on. The word Eloheim ought to be in the plural all the way through--Gods. The heads of the Gods appointed ONE God for us... (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 372)

Given Smith's instructions to place graven images of Baal on LDS temples, and given his penchant for always carrying his Jupiter Talisman, we can deduce he considered Baal and Jupiter to be among the 'gods' who created the heaven and earth, and equal to Christ.

I understand you could be surprised or confused, Pancho if you didn't really know this. I'm here to talk and help you if you need it. PM me. There are MANY, MANY other shocking thing your leaders have kept secret from you.

So tell me pancho, did that burning bosom reconcile the verses in the BOM against Smith's later contradictory teachings in Abraham about multiple gods creating heaven and earth ?

Also, do you believe the Joseph Smith translation of the bible to be a fraud as Brigham Young taught ? Have you ever seen one or read it ?

You’re not funny. Promoting the blasphemous religion of MormonISM is not humorous. You serve the spirit of antiChrist when pushing the lies and double talk of Joe Smith’s demonically inspired religion.

Now that is funny! You try quoting from a poorly written novel which plaguerized liberally from the Old and New Testament Bible, and that's your proof text? Bwahaha ... PT BArnum would be amused.

So, shill, tell us how it is that Joey Smith was quoting from the 500BC Book of Isaiah in the BM, yet he quoted the name 'Lucifer' in the text? Just to help you along, Lucifer is derived from Latin, a language which didn't even exist when the 500BC text Smith claimed quoted in the BM was written. And oh yeah, the name didn't find its way into the Bible translations until the translation from Greek to Latin done by a Catholic scholar/priest.

Try to not pretend to be scholarly when you're so lacking in details. Your shilling for LDS inc and Milt Rominy will seem more credible.

Answer the question, Pancho, which bible do you use, the JST which Brigham Young declared to be a fraud, or the KJV which the gods that appeared to Smith in the grove said was corrupt ?

Many are watching. It is a simple question at the VERY ROOT of mormonism. JST or KJV ?

Well ?

Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Proverbs 28:26
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 24:34-36
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Mark 13:30-32
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Sorry, but you can’t pretend to know what I feel inside. It is peace which comes from Christ, not the turmoil and contention that comes from the Devil. I get that peace from reading the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. I know you don’t like that, but that is how it works for me.

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

If you want to quote fiction, quote good fiction. We are a fairly smart group. For example we have not fallen for the obvious fallacies and forgeries that make up LDS “scripture” and theology.

And I am probably more familiar with your own religion and its documents than you will ever be, yet I do not like or dislike that you are blind to the deception in them. Go ahead Pancho, go prove me a liar !

"Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." Actually we can. Many of us are very well acquainted with the Bible (the real one) and God's very clear instruction to test spirits that speak to us against the word and our own ability to reason. He was very clear that the spirits of darkness will come in the veil of light and goodness to tempt and mislead us. That is why God gave us minds as well as emotions.

A reasoned minds knowns the words in the BOM and other LDS writings is not from God.

Compare reality to what your heart has been telling you. It will not add up, it can't.
