Skip to comments.Newt torches Romney: (5 Min Newt Video- challenges Mitt to debate)
Posted on 02/03/2012 5:11:57 PM PST by VinL
This is a slam dunk for Newt. He goes after Romney, the Soros-approved candidate, on his comments about the very poor and torches the idea that the safety-net is anything but a spider web that traps the poor:
It isnt good enough for the Republican party to nominate Obama-lite. Now, let me tell you what the difference is. If youre a genuine conservative, first of all you dont say that you dont care about the poor. If youre a genuine conservative, you believe that we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
And we think it is the left which has abandoned and betrayed the poor because its safety net is actually a spiderweb and it traps people in dependency.
My goal the exact opposite of Governor Romney. My goal is not to ignore or forget the poor. My goal is to turn the safety net into a trampoline to allow the poor to rise and be like the rest of us and have a job and buy a house.
He even refers to Romney as Little Food Stamp:
We now know from Governor Romney [that] he joins Obama. Obama is Big Food Stamp. Hes Little Food Stamp. But they both thing food stamps are OK. I dont think food stamps are a future for America. They are a necessary bridge back to getting a job and back to being independent of the government.

Challenges Mitt to a debate?
They are on 22 February. That should be a good one. Newt better be prepared.
Romney is a democrat is a Red cloak.
Out him...out the mofo!
Romney would never accept debate so Newt get him in February debate on the issues and his record.
Newt would make a great president with half of his brain tied behind his back ;)
Challenges Mitt to a debate?
Yes, in the video, he challenges Romney to a Lincoln/Douglas debate— unless I heard wrong.
I haven’t heard anyone talk like this since President Reagan.
BOO-YAH!!!! Even the stuff that could be quoted as against wall-street is NOT if you listen to the speech. It is AWESOME!!!
Well, while no fan of Newt, if he wants to truly help Conservatism ... be prepared for next debate and knock it out of the park. Watching Romney and thinking he is going to be the nominee is just sickening.
HERE HERE!!!! I feel inspired after I listen to his speeches!
The presumed Great Debater didn’t fare too well in the last 2 debates.
For all the hoopla about him going to decimate Obama in debates, Romney did him in pretty good.
He can only attack the media so many times in debates before that gets to be old hack.
Even the stuff that could be quoted as against wall-street is NOT
You’re right... and that’s why the video’s worth seeing. The other thread I posted that summarized this speech led some to argue that Newt was “anti-rich”-—and as you state, that’s not at all what he said.

Willie Mitty: Can I being my secret ear piece ???
Fixed it for ya FRiend!!
How about commenting on what the thread is about, Gingrich’s speech. Did you watch the video?
I saw a good spelling of Romney which goes with your cartoon. It was Rmoney.
Obama-Soras......Romney-Trump....... What's the differance?
Rich get richer, poor stay poor and more of them, and the middle class gets served the bill. Minimum Wage increase will put more out of work and close businesses.
All these years the media has been hounding us about those RICH REPUBLICANS, and now they are backing them. DUH!!!!!
I tell you Trump in not in this for fame, he has some deal cut for $$$$$$$$$, guaranteed. Neither of them care about the middle or poor class, just status quo and more for the rich.
So you let out a big spittle without backing up with the truth, something you seem to have decided to do for quite awhile.
We all know how you feel personally about Newt Gingrich, at least anyone that has been reading your posts.
I know you watched the debates but some how you missed the barrage of LIES thrown at Newt Gingrich by Liberal backing Romney and the the media not allowing Newt Gingrich to respond, such as going to a commercial Or that it was a set up with STUPID QUESTIONS that had nothing to do with what is really wrong with our Country. AND YOU know that too.
Or maybe it is that you want to believe the Lies? Or is there something YOU know that hasn’t been repeated and refuted over and over again with facts on FR.
IF you do please let us know and give us links.
Isn’t this little line getting sorta old-I mean it began on CNN, CBS and MSNBC then Fox picked it up. It’s been on the left wing blogs weeks ago.
Godspeed Newt Gingrich.
Feel the same way.
I'm frankly puzzled trying to understand what is it people object to. The concepts Newt expresses in these speeches just seem to me undeniable truth. I'm willing to stipulate I'm missing something but can't figure out what.
Well said and TRUE.
Newt’s the only one who could beat BHO, especially when the public at large starts hearing him. There are powerful forces on both sides who are so threatened by the big changes they KNOW he’ll make that they’ll go to any lengths to stop him - and therein lies our challenge. I believe we the people can yet prevail, but it’ll take a united effort, not having our votes split as they’ve been thus far, and it needs to be soon, before it’s too late.
Has a nomination ever before been decided on the basis of who we think the opposition can run the least negative ads on? That seems like a depressingly distressing position for politics to be in. I honestly don’t think that works as a strategy. I think we need a candidate who brings lots of positive qualities to the table which we can emphasize. What’s more effective, a million ads touting Obama’s negatives or half of that million being used to tout our candidate’s positives?
The funny thing is that more and more of the pundits and talking heads are finally admitting some of the negatives on Romney, the stuff people like me have been talking about for months. Such as admitting that the idea of making the election “about Obama” is completely preposterous, considering that he has a billion dollars to spend to make the election about what HE wants it to be about. If all we have are negative ads, then Obama gets to define our candidate. We need a positive ad campaign about our candidate to define him ourselves. And when they see our guy, the voters better not be asking, “where’s the beef?”
The more it looks like Romney’s going to secure the nomination, the more the negatives about him get talked up. It seems like there’s been a lot of intentional deceit going on here, coming from people who want Obama to win and are trying to trick people into nominating the weakest candidate we have to go against him.
Yeah don't you just hate it when Newt goes after the media. I mean how awful is that.
We've got the media, non-stop (24/7) pushing propaganda, and we've got little old Newt, now-and-then, going after media.
Make it stop....RIGHT?
It's old "hack", RIGHT?
