As the rampant speculations that Israel will soon launch a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities continue, a report on NBC on Friday revealed what such an attack may look like.
The report, the main points of which were presented by Israel's Channel 10 News, is based on conversations the American network held with current and former officials in Israel and the United States. The report suggests that an attack on Iran will combine air and ground forces but will not include naval forces.
The officials interviewed said that the attack will be led by the Israeli artillery, which will use Jericho 2 missiles that have a range of 2,500 kilometers. The report also says the artillery will be assisted by F-15i aircraft and Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The officials also told NBC that the operation will include ground units, but that they will not be involved in the actual attacks, focusing instead on marking targets or collecting intelligence.

This is what an Israeli attack on Iran will look like:
(1) The Israelis will do their thing while Obama dithers and dithers and dithers in order to remain sitting on the fence.
(2) While the Israelis. God help them (and us) hopefully prevent a complete meltdown of the entire Middle East, Obama will continue dithering.
(3) IF the Israelis are successful and the Middle East still exists, Obama will send in Seal Team 6 and claim a victorious victory, just in time for the November election.
(4) At some point, if Seal Team 6 still exists, Obama will list them by name in order to place them in the most dangerous position possible to appease his base. He may even charge them with war crimes.

Will they get in and out and hit targets, yes.
However, distance from Israel, political pressures (no protracted campaign), a moderately capable Iranian IADS, the hardening of Iranian sites and their dispersion, limited Israeli mass, types of platforms, ordinance, guidance capabilities available, as well as intell will make such an attack limited in its effectiveness.
It will be more symbolic, a gesture that shows “action” than actually effective in derailing anything.
They forgot the part where Benjamin Netanyahu calls Obama who is in the middle of a round of golf, to tell him that they got the job done, and thanks for your help, Not.

If Israel attacks Iran, there are several universal considerations it must make.
1) To put all Israeli and Jewish activities around the world on alert that they may be attacked by Iranians and their proxies. This is already happening, as Iran has stated its intentions to make such attacks.
2) If at all possible, be aware of and neutralize, if possible even enable an ineffective attack clearly from Iran, to establish in international law that Iran is the aggressor, who has started an aggressive war, and Israel is engaged in self defense when it attacks Iran.
3) Timetable how the war will happen very carefully from the Israeli side, including countless contingencies. Likewise, plan on how to disrupt the Iranian war timetable.
This is to get them to use insufficient forces before they are ready, and to commit forces where they will achieve no good.
4) Plan extensive non-linear unconventional attacks, such as sabotage, espionage, propaganda, counterintelligence, assassinations, and support for Iranian anti-government organizations.
5) Extensive diplomatic preparations for overt and covert alliances among those also opposed to Iran. Hiring of mercenaries for special purpose activities.
Unfortunately, Muslims are obligated to kill. We have to deal with it.

I don’t think they will attack. Isreal can’t risk starting a theater wide war with a US pesident like Obama. They can’t hit Iran without a stop on the way, and no one will allow them to.
