Gingrich says he will not drop out of the race tonight [Nevada LIVE THREAD]
Wash Times ^ | 2-4-12 | Hallow

Newt Gingrich will stay in the Republican presidential nomination contest despite an expected loss to Mitt Romney in Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, the former speaker told The Washington Times late Saturday afternoon.

“We had excellent fundraising meetings and calls yesterday,” Mr. Gingrich said. “Super Tuesday and beyond look good.”

The Georgia native thus dispelled rumors circulating in the press that his campaign had scheduled a press conference for late Saturday, after the results were in from the Nevada caucuses.

“We will probably be a solid second here with [Rick] Santorum in last place,” Mr. Gingrich said, while acknowledging indirectly that attracting donors and voters in sufficient force to overtake Mr. Romney will be a challenge in the coming weeks.

ME TOO! My mother loved Mr. Newt, and while she a very virtuous lady, and only married once — to my father, all she ever had was sympathy for Newt’s marital problems (but she also felt very sympathetic toward Hillary Clinton, although she never would have voted for her.)

Part of the reason why I support Mr. Newt is because of my mother, I know if she were still alive, she would have been a Newt supporter from the beginning, instead of a latecomer as I am.

Mr. Newt did make some mistakes here in Nevada. He should have spent the majority of his time here in the north, and not in Vegas. This is where the republicans are located and I thnk he could have won; 12 people showed up for my precinct, 2 Paul supporters, 2 Gingrich supporters, and 8 Romney supporters. We talked for about an hour before we voted. When we voted, the results were 2 Paul supports, 4 Romney supporters, and SIX Newt supporters. Those original 8 supporters were Mormons. Clearly Romney’s support isn’t very deep. Newt could have pulled this off if he had stayed here.

I’m sure he’ll write a book one way or the other. He’s a historian.

Pray that he’s successful.

FR Mail to you.

Regarding the total delegate count:
Michael Steele explain the other evening that he was President of the RNC when the rule that NO ONE was to give delegates to winner take all before April 1

The current President wrote a letter, which he released to the press, that he had notified the state that they must award the delegates proportionately.

Newt, campaign chairman, Past AG of Florida has done the legal work to challenge the distribution, but it's not scheduled until a couple of days before the convention.

IMO it would behave the Rules Committee of the RNC to settle the situation ASAP. The media and Romney have created a meme....repetition of a (false) statement to make people believe it's true. If they await until close to the convention and the count is close, the committee will anger either side of the situation. If they decide now that embarrassment and further division of the party will be avoided.

So Please contact either by mail, phone or computer and urge them to decided sooner rather than later.

See, I told ya’ll you needed to chill! :)))

As for the writer of this article, my 7th grade dyslexic son could have done a better job.

GO NEWT!!!
p.s. Call the RNC on Monday and INSIST that they make Florida follow the delegate rule. It cannot be winner take all. If VA has to follow the rules, then so does Florida!

You have a good point. I wondered about this in Florida, because the day before the election, suddenly Santorum signs started popping up everywhere. The Romney signs had been heavily distributed before that, of course, and on election day, each polling place was practically obscured by a wall of Romney signs.

The Santorum signs were on medians and public thoroughfares, so I know they weren’t put up by genuine volunteers, since it is not permitted to put signs up in these places. The state or county or city, depending on the jurisdiction, removes them and sometimes even bills the campaign for the job.

So the only people who do this are the local winos who are hired by political campaigns to go out and do jobs like this for a few bucks at the last minute.

Santorum had no support here; even Ron Paul had more support. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least to know that Santorum was getting a cash infusion from Romney, at least indirectly.

I got a call this morning from RNC for a donation. I advise the gentleman that I had stopped donating to the RNC back when McCain lost. In the future would only donate to Conservaties that had Jim Robinson’s endorsement!
I did this very politely and surprised the H out of my son by not going ballistic.

Romney’s Mittwit surrogates have been talking to Newt’s biggest donor ken Adelson, trying to convince him not to contribute any more money to Newt’s Super PAC. Donor-poaching is down there on the Maggot level.

Okay, so maybe Santorum can take Bozos place and Paul can be Cookie the clown with the Bozo buckets.

If Gingrich was going to drop out, it doesn’t make sense timing-wise to be scheduled after an expected big showing for Romney. My thinking is possibly the presser was to divert Mitt’s thunder or find another excuse not to call and congratulate the winner ? Supporting Newt mostly as a protest vote, but he really is going to have to find a more mature game plan for these post defeat moments or the rumors of being too mentally unstable to play within systems of established protocol (like the presidency) will only intensify.

I’m talking about them using the same trick against Thompson in the primary itself, to halt his momentum, not before he entered the race, they would hardly be claiming that he was dropping out, before he entered.

Others may disagree, but when this is all over and if Newt is not our nominee, Newt needs to write a book about the coup of the 2012 GOP primary.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Good idea. I’m rooting for Newt not because he was ever my favorite but for who his enemies are. The left hates him they always have. That includes Romnoid. It turns out that Newt is likeable for a politician and he’s earnest and smart. I’m sticking with Newt till the nomination. Santorum is a RINO phony I just know it.

Folks if you are short of money there are others ways to help...Go to NEWT.org. at the bottom of the page is a contact tab. After filling out your info, there is a tab for donate....It lists many areas which you might choose to help the campaign.

You can also click the tshirt which will send you to his financial donation page....As little as five dollars is taken.

D*mn!! It looks like Newt needs a minor miracle. I wonder if the Good Lord has finally turned against America? The contest looks like it is about to become one of “The Divine One” versus the wearer of magic underwear.

GOP-E is scared to death of NEWT GINGRICH changing Washington, D.C.
It will fund all of his rivals in the attempt to stop him.

No kidding, eh! They will break rules for their boy to keep everything status quo. They just can't allow FL to have to give Newt the EC votes he earned. Nope, that would make him to close to Mitt.

How ya doin, o? We are having another gorgeous day here. Winter escapes us as usual.

Newt didn't call Willard. Cause he knew HE Newt won the most delegates/counties.

Willard should have called him and conceded.

Yes, I agree. Things are changing, and the annointed ones really can’t tell us how to think or control our information anymore (that’s why it’s so important to protect the Internet!).
