Newt Gingrich says he is the conservative choice in the 2012 presidential race, but five states into the campaign, Mitt Romney has won more self-identified conservative voters, according to an analysis by The Washington Times of entrance and exit polls.
Mr. Romney capped off that showing with a win in Nevada that included support from a majority of self-identified conservatives, a feat neither Mr. Gingrich nor the other two remaining candidates have been able to accomplish.
“He may be more conservative than Romney, but that does not mean that he is winning over more conservative voters,” said Mark Rozell, a political science professor at George Mason University. “The primary voters are not aligning themselves solely on the basis of ideology. They are looking as well to electability, character, leadership ability, among other factors. So being to the right of the front-runner is not enough to convince conservative voters to pick a Gingrich.”

The sickening part of all this press coverage is that they only refer to %.
Romney got 50%, Newt got 21% etc.
There are 2,700,000 people in Nevada, and less that 35,000 or 1.3% of the population voted.
Nobody cared enough to vote.
Mittens got 16,000 and Newt got 6,000 votes...PATHETIC.
We get all worked into a lather here at FR and few people outside give a fat rat's ass.
Newt lost by 10,000 votes or .004 {that's 4-thousandth of a percentage} it's a rounding error.
We hard core political freaks care, but the average American doesn't know what a caucus is, doesn't know what super Tuesday will be, has no clue that during Super Bowl weekend, there was a political vote anywhere in the USA, and worse, has more knowledge about which TV commercial was VOTED BEST, on Sunday night.
Bread and circuses, feed another Christian to the lions, give them another 99 weeks of no work payment, re-elect the boi-king, watch Caligula have sex with her brother, and we can wonder why the Country is going to hell.

You are right. The Mormons think they are strong conservatives but really are weak rinos.
“Self-identified conservative voters” says it all. Liberals, for the most part, have no clue that they are liberal. They are just not bright enough to figure it out. The Republican Party is full of liberals. Romney is a case in point.
Perry, former Democrat. Romney, RINO extraordinaire. Gingrich, barely acceptable as a conservative (remember his incorporation of the Tofflers globalist ideals). If this is the best that we can do, then we are so screwed.
Got a call from the RNC this morning wanting me to contribute, blah blah blah. Out of curiosity I asked her what my money would be going towards, she stuttered a little, named a few items then SPECIFICALLY said, “to help Mitt Romney beat Obama.”. I said, “so The RNC has already made up their mind who the nominee will be?”. I then said, “and that is why I will not be contributing this year, my money will not be used to elect a liberal democrat.”. Since I am such a twit, she had to inform me that Romney is a Republican. I laughed and ended the call.
Yup, and a majority of women vote on emotion (centered on "helping" people) rather than logic (why throwing more cash at a problem won't help). Democrats and RINO/"moderate" types like Romney tend to do very well with this demographic. Really sorry to say it, but when it comes to voting we would end up with a much better result if only men voted. Certainly not proposing we go back to that though, conservatives will simply have to learn how to cut through the emotional haze and win over more of the female electorate.
You nailed it! I will act on Milton Friedman's words: "People have a great misconception in this way, they think way they solve things by electing the right people. Its nice to elect the right people, but that isn’t the way you solve them. The way you solve things is by making it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right things!"
I won't let the frustration of not having "a really good conservative candidate" diminish my efforts to defeat Obama.
Add to that: ignorant voters, stupid voters, “government dependent” voters, criminals who vote, illegal immigrants who vote, leftists who vote in more than one place, votes from the dead, and all of the other possible ways that the left manipulates the final voting results.
I like Newt, but he does have a lot of baggage. If there was a real strong conservative canidate, there would be no race.
However, that being said, I am still going to vote Republican this fall. I am not going to let arrogant pride get in the way of removing obama from office.
Out of the total Mormon voting population within Nevada, how many voted for Mitt Romney?
They generally do what they're told to do...in this case vote for Romney...in truth to them he's the man of the hour in their political agenda which most outside of Mormonism are unaware of, and in fact many within Mormonism aren't aware.....
Most recognized Romney would win in Nevada and Utah simply for the Mormon vote...and with Ron Paul covering for him otherwise....no brainer. Probably will take Michigan for it's his stomping ground and that of his fathers.
Too many want a "pretty boy" as we saw who voted for Presidents in the past...further they are listening to the propaganda Romney's team is jetting out there.
I will continue to support Newt...he's the best we have and that a zillion times over Romney. Santorum will never make it as most know...and neither will Paul.
The problem isn't the candidates running...the problem is with the voters who don't seem to get the truth but rather are self seeking. If we don't come together and get behindt behind Newt it's a done deal...we loose. And that's just a fact.

NV caucus process is a joke btw.
Anyway, back to my precinct group of 28. The chair person had on a Mitt t-shirt and kept speaking as though the mitt campaign was in charge of the caucus. He was an annoying man, about 6'1 350lbs. He said now who wants to speak for Newt, and no one spoke. I had already sized up my precinct. It was 24 fellow mormon friends and 4 of us that were not.
Ok so no one spoke up and he looked at me and asked if I wanted to speak. I asked him if the gentleman at the next table to could speak for newt and he replied NOOOOOO he is not in our precinct!! I proceeded to tell him what the state gop had told the gentleman and chaos insued for aobut 10 min, while someone came over to clarify. So he asked me again to speak..
I said well considering I count 24 mormons for mitt, what is the point! I already knew that one non mormon lady was voting for Rick and the ponytail guy was voting for Paul. Only my husband and I for Newt. I knew there would be no swaying the 24 mormons nor the paul guy. The Santorum lady had already told me, she loved Rick and felt sorry for his little girl and was only voting Rick. So I told the guy, go ahead and preach to your people, and shuck my head.
The disorganization of the place was unbelievable! CAucus process is for crap!
So we voted and of course I called it right.. 24 sheeple for mitt and the lone rick and paul people and the 2 for newt from my husband and I :(
To my knowledge all the 20+ precincts represented at the caucus had mitt people as chairmen!
While the Mormon % in NV may not seem like much... They all swamped the caucuses (sp). To me a caucus is not a fair process, especially in Vegas. Too many people have industry jobs that can't come and spend several hours for this BS!
Plus NV has no idea how to do a caucus!
Prior to moving here, I had never had this process in the other states where I voted.
NV needs to go back to Primary voting as we do have to show ID to vote!"

I noted before that great gap between the numbers who voted and those who never came out. Amazing after all the groundwork Romney and Paul did there to have such low turnout. Maybe they all just thought Romney would get it anyway and just didn't bother.
Hopefully our people will get out there in other states and for me Newt will rise again...and I think that he will.
I don’t see that happening. I know too many who do not like Newt at all. They don’t like Romney either.

The lib media is crowing about the depressed turnout in the Republican primaries. I think the overall turnout in the general election will be low. The people I know who voted for Obama last time aren’t interested in voting for him again.
