Obama: I'm getting 'better as time goes on'
The Hill ^ | 2/6/12 | Justin Sink

Posted on 02/06/2012 11:10:09 AM PST by ColdOne

During an interview that aired Monday on NBC's "Today" show, President Obama said that he gets "better as time goes on" at his job and that he believes the grassroots movement that propelled him to victory in 2008 will help him win a second term.

"What's frustrated people is that I've not been able to implement every aspect of what I said in 2008. Well, it turns out our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like sometimes. But what we have been able to do is move in the right direction," Obama said.

"And you know what? One of the things about being president is you get better as time goes on," he added.

The president defended his record, arguing that he has been successful despite his confrontations with Congress.

"We've been able to get a lot done. Not as fast as we want; sometimes it's messy; the process is frustrating," Obama said.

"I'm getting better..."

Maybe his golf handicap -- from 28 to 27.

Certainly nothing else.

"...I'm getting 'better as time goes on'"

Sounds like something a patient on a psych ward would say.

Well one change I specifically remember he was supposed to bring about was that “the oceans would rise and the earth would begin to heal.” Should be easy enough to quantify, right

99% of Scientist believe that Obama has healed the Earth so case closed. Flat Earther!

Better at what? Deluding himself that he is competent and qualified - not to mention Constitutionally qualified??? He certainly isn’t getting better at hiding his agenda - in fact, even some of his own party members hate the guy with a passion now... (Unfortunately not enough of them do yet...)

I horribly teased an old friend of mine this weekend regarding an old pic of Obama when he was teaching. No response was received to my joke about finally hearing someone say they knew him “in college” (not that I expected one as I also sarcastically commented that of course he was a TEACHER at the time and not a STUDENT so maybe it doesn’t count after all! LOL).

our Founders designed a system that makes it more difficult to bring about change than I would like

What Constitutional lawyer doesn't know this BEFORE getting a job ANYWHERE in government, much less as PRESIDENT of the US??? This man is so full of do-doo it's mind-boggling. Does he really think everyone falls for his fakery?

As others have pointed out it's a part of the check and balance system instituted by our Founding Fathers for a VERY specific reason - Obama's just mad because they foresaw attempts made by men like Obama throughout history and as long as someone actually ENFORCES the Constitution we are protected from wannabe dictators. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many, many parts of the Constitution - it's only a matter of time before the Presidential restraints will be even more seriously challenged than they are already.

I woke up thinking about this topic this morning, honestly. Thinking that what's wrong with our political system is that too often the President is seen as the leader of a political party and NOT a defendant representative of the people, put in place to check Congress in regards to legislation - NOT to propose legislation and programs HIMSELF. His bully pulpit can be used to highlight things, but there are specific duties of the President, and "changing" the face of America isn't anywhere in his job description - neither should it EVER be!

I think I'll have to sit down and write out the "essay" I was working out in my head this morning as it's coincidentally being discussed a lot in what I've read today. This attitude of what a President "is" and "should be" was developed a long time ago (over 100 years at least), and warned about even before the Constitution was adopted in regards to political parties, so it's not going to be easy at all to change the general outlook of the President's job in the mind of the public - even though it's in black & white in the Constitution.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day!

Obama is NOT a clock and he has NOT been right about anything yet from an American's perspective.

BUT Obama has been right on from his MUSLIM goals:

1. The US Military helped set up Libya for radical takeover, check!

2. The MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD in Egypt is on schedule to take over that country, CHECK!

3. Obama has spend $Trillions for stimulus, welfare, expansion of the Federal Government (don't ask WHO or WHAT RACE the Federal Gov't is hiring, these people are paid better than the private sector (HINT: Whites need not apply).

4. No American oil drilling allowed, keep buying from American enemies (put those $Billions for oil in radical arab hands) CHECK!

5. Divide the races for a race war that even Martin Luther King couldn't forsee (on schedule) CHECK!

ETC.

Things are going well for our FIRST MUSLIM PRESIDENT, they suck from an American's perspective, CHECK!!

Interesting... I teased Obama about using the whole “Hope and Change” line after I saw the beginning of the 1992 Presidential Debate and Clinton's opening remark saying, “I represent real hope for change” (exact quote)! So, only TWO years after Clinton's campaign uses that to beat HW Bush, Romney and his aides are so impressed that THEY use the same slogan?

Hmmm... IIRC, weren't Republicans at that time running on a slogan with Gingrich's “Contract with America”? I don't recall many running that didn't go with something along those lines - certainly Republicans at that time wouldn't WANT to be associated with the lines spewed by then President Clinton's campaign. (Doesn't surprise me about Romney, though - it's just interesting).

Here's a link to the ‘92 debate between Bush, Clinton and Perot (Part I). Clinton's spiel begins at the 4:25 mark (a one-minute rebuttal to Perot's answer for “What separates you from the other candidate's on the stage”).

Better!!?? At what?

Ignoring the Constitution? Ignoring the rule of law?? Spending America into the dinosaur age? Implementing socialism?? Deepening the divide between America’s races??

Inquiring minds . . . . . .

@THE 1992 DEBATES : Excerpts: 3 Candidates Address Character, Change, Problems
Bill Clinton: "The most important distinction in this campaign is that I represent real hope for change, a departure from trickle-down economics, a departure from tax-and-spend economics, to invest in growth.
"But before I can do that, I must challenge the American people to change, and they must decide.
"Tonight I have to say to the President: Mr. Bush, for 12 years you've had it your way. You've had your chance, and it didn't work. It's time to change. I want to bring that change to the American people. But we must all decide first we have the courage to change for hope and a better tomorrow."

When going back to the well works you keep going back to the well.

Of course, some people might call that mental conditioning.

@“Shaping Mental and Moral Forces”: Memo on Propaganda
Propaganda is the inculcation of a desired mental attitude in people. Hence any method of communication is a potential carrier of propaganda, and no medium of communication known to the human race can be ignored by the propagandist.
Snip...In combating the enemy, propaganda offers two channels. A positive assertion of your beliefs and aims, and a refutation of his assertions. The first has the power of attack. The second has the weakness of negative approach. To deny an enemy statement attacking you is to give it wider publicity. Many people feel subconsciously that where there’s smoke there’s fire. It is this factor that Hitler stresses constantly in his claims that a flagrant lie, if turned into a slogan and repeated often enough, is to be half believed.
Denial of a lie dignifies it and further publicizes it. Moreover it is a defensive strategy and has the weakness of defensive strategy. Positive attack on the enemy has strategical strengths akin to those of positive attack in military operations.

As a supposed “Constitutional lawyer”, he seems only to have learned about it the better to undermine and dismiss it.

What’s strange is that no one has any anecdotes about him, even favorable ones. For someone in his position, you’d think at least one or two people would like to stand in his limelight by sharing stories from “back then”. This happens to everyone who becomes famous. Wth Hussein-nothing and no one. As if he just didn’t really exist in other people’s lives before he ran for the Presidency. It’s very curious.
