Skip to comments.Ron Paul: I would discourage attack by Israel on Iran

Speaking over the weekend on CNN, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul said he would seek to discourage an attack on Iran by Israel, citing a comments from Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, who said a nuclear Iran wouldnt necessarily be an existential threat.
You dont go to war over these kinds of things, said Mr. Paul. I would try to use the foreign policy and military experts who say this would be a fallacy and use the people in Israel who are saying these things as well to show that people should stop and think before they start a war.
The Texas Republican, who has made opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan a key point of contention in his bid for the 2012 nomination, has called for halting financial aid to Israel, noting the U.S. deficit remains above $14 trillion.
Mr. Pauls comment comes as polls show Mr. Paul trailing his Republican rivals by a wide margin. The Texas Republican congressman, who took third place in Saturdays Nevada caucus, also took time to discuss his campaign. Speaking Sunday morning, Mr. Paul said that it is hard to say exactly when he expects to score a victory in an upcoming caucus or primary.
Of course you set [your target] for victory, but you have to live within the real world, said the Texas Republican. But we have three or four caucus states that we believe our numbers are doing pretty good and we have to wait and see and keep doing exactly what were doing.
The Texas congressman criticized his Republican rivals, including Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. Mr. Paul slammed Mr. Romney, saying the Massachusetts Republican does not have firm convictions. Mr. Paul said Romneys economic positions were flawed, but that the former Massachusetts governor is apt to change his tune if it means capturing some of Mr. Pauls supporters.
I think Mitt can change his mind, Mr. Paul said. Hes changed his mind in the past. If he hears from our young people and voters and we continue this, yeah, hes going hes going to change his mind, if theres a political benefit to it.
hmmm... so he is OK with interventionism after all, as long as it is against Israel’s interests.
Paul’s a big neo-nazi phony. The sooner he drops dead the better off America will be. His double standards are so obvious even his moronic zealot followers should recognize them.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
As I'm told by paulbots, Ronnie is the most pro-Israel candidate because he'd never tell Israel what to do. Never, never ever. Honest.
To Paul's credit, he hasn't compared Israel to the Reich, he reserved that for the US governments treatment of illegal aliens. Alex Jones says the camps are ready.
Sorry, he has jumped that shark too..
When can we stop calling him Ron Paul and start calling him George Galloway?
I’d appreciate it if somebody could find out George’s sources of funding, because you don’t speak against American’s allies and America’s enemies without a reason.
Oh, I see Ron. You have adopted Obama’s stance on hating Israel.
He has but 0bummer's more clever at concealing it.
What is that supposed to mean?
Yeah Israel, you big & bad country. Stop picking on everyone and stop acting like you have a reason for such talk! /s
I wonder why Ron Paul make no mention of discouraging an attack on Israel by Iran. Oh, yeah, I remember reading his newsletters about 20 years ago. He thought Hitler was too easy on the Jews.
I would try to use the foreign policy and military experts who say this would be a fallacy and use the people in Israel who are saying these things as well to show that people should stop and think before they start a war. .....................................................
I agree with Dr. Paul Israel should just wait until Iran tests their new bomb by dropping it in the middle of Israel.
Uhhhh! Dr. paul, I believe Israel has stopped and give this some thought. It is you apparently who aren’t thinking.
Yes, thank you. It’s hard to remember all Paul’s shark jumping. Wish I’d kept a list of the 08 threads.
In fairness to Ron, and I’ve read a lot of the newsletters, he didn’t get into that. Some of his supporters, the newletter subscribers, do they think that, you bet. If you’re suggesting that if someone, Ron Paul in this case, choosed to profit by selling to racists and Jewhaters, thus is no better than them, I can’t disagree. Frankly, I come to the same conclusion.
They have clearly said repeatedly that they want to destroy Israel and the US, in fact every one that doesn't follow their brand of lunacy. Yet RonPaul persists in saying that they don't mean it. They is just joking.
But when they say that the reason they want to kill us is not because we exist but because they are offended that years after they started killing us we, at the invitation of the host country, built a base in a neighboring country they are telling nothing but the gospel truth.
This makes no sense what so ever.
Maybe Dr. Paul should stick to attacks he knows. Like appendicitis attacks and gas attacks.
“Mr. Paul, please point to Israel on this globe.”
“There it is right there.”
“Mr. Paul, you have pointed to Ecuador.”
“No kiddin’. Well, I guess this is what happens when you make sh-t up.”
As in committing more troops and funds? I don't think so. As in substituting noodle for knee jerk, most definitely. He's miles ahead of the crowd, something those who refuse to grow up may never experience. Did you ever find your map with Alaska on it? Oh, and be sure to check for George Soros under your bed tonight.
Paul has said over and over that it should be up to Israel as to how they handle their borders and we need to butt out of their business. To me this means if they want to overthrow crappy Iran then they should.
Now Paul makes a statement that contradicts his own position.
Paul needs to get out of the race so his supporters can all go back to the democrat party where they came from.
What a buffoon. Thanks SJackson.
Paul has found a county whose internal affairs he would meddle in.
