England has had the Magna Carta, the 1688 Bill of Rights, and other important documents that have curtailed the rights of kings and queens and given power to Parliament and the people. England and Britain fought a civil war (Cromwell anyone) over the tyranny of divine rule and the primacy of Parliament and the people’s rights.
Scotland has had the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath, the 1638 National Covenant, the 1689 Claim of Right (our bill of rights). Again, to make parliament and the peoples rights primacy.
You forgot something... its called the “Revolutionary War with England”..

America is NOT a democracy.. (at all)..
America is a constitutional republic.. not a democracy..

In America the federal government is a ..vassal.. of State government(s)..
In a democracy states(provinces) are vassals of central government..
In a democracy privileges are granted by government.. ZERO rights..
In “our” government rights are granted by God not the government..

My son and I were watching some of the primary coverage on CNN last night (for as long as we could stand it). Blitzer & the field reporters kept going on and on: “We're watching democracy in action folks...” as they switched from site to site. Every time I heard it I gave the TV the finger and said “Constitutional Republic!” After about a dozen times my son said, you know that are going to keep saying it, no matter how much you yell at the TV!

Technically the 16th Amendment (1913) makes America a democracy (and republic simultaenously), which as I DID say, its shouldnt be.
