Yep. And that little fact has made or broken armies over the centuries. 3000 K/cals a day minumum, more if it's cold. And that's the logistics that wins or loses wars.

Napoleon said it earlier "An army moves on its stomach".

Those logistics are more important than specific weapons systems.

3,600 cals per day for paratroopers in moderate climes.

In Alaska, 4,800 + 6 large chocolate bars.

And if you don’t eat all of it, you will freeze to death.

(The only time we actually got three C-rats a day was in AK - then we got four, plus the chocolate. Thaw out the food, eat, thaw out some more, eat, ...)
