Posted on 02/09/2012 8:18:49 PM PST by Tailgunner Joe
Liberal politicians and green groups are exaggerating the dangers of hydraulic fracturing to scare people and raise money, Rick Santorum said Thursday in a wide-ranging rant against environmental activists.
The failure of cap-and-trade legislation in 2009 was the politicization of science, Santorum said.
In fact, he added, the Republican Party is the truth party.
You hear all the time, the left: Oh, the conservatives are the anti-science party. No were not. Were the truth party, the former Pennsylvania senator said at a campaign event in Oklahoma City. Because the left is always looking for a way to control you. Theyre always trying to make you feel guilty so youll give them power so they can lord it over you. They do it on the environment all the time.
Environmentalists use universal desires for clean water, clean air and conservation to distort the truth in order to get you to give them authority.
Their new target is natural gas, he said.
We have to have all sorts of government regulations, because of the threats of hydrofracking, Santorum said. Its the new boogey man. Its the new way to try to scare you and those folks particularly not from Oklahoma and Texas were sort of new to this stuff, hydrofracking, in Pennsylvania.
And theyre preying on the Northeast, saying, Look whats going to happen. Ooh, all this bad stuffs going to happen, we dont know all these chemicals and all this stuff, he continued. Let me tell you whats going to happen: Nothings going to happen, except they will use this to raise money for the radical environmental groups so they can go out and continue to try to purvey their reign of environmental terror on the United States of America. We will stand up for the truth.
Fracking is an increasingly important technique for natural gas extractors in Santorums home state of Pennsylvania, which has vast shale reserves.
Many environmentalists have raised concerns that the process could have serious environmental impacts, particularly polluting groundwater.
>> Santorum said. “[the threats of hydrofracking] Its the new boogey man.”
I guess Rick’s been consulting with a few facetious geological engineers.
So what’s the real risk of hydrofracking related to ground water in the PA area?
FINALLY: someone showing the courage to stand up to the bullies. Thank you for speaking the truth, Rick Santorum.
Depends on the depth of the oil/gas in relation to the water table.
Around here, Zero risk.
Santorum is right, this is a make believe threat. Again excited by the lefties to grab power and cripple the nation.
As far as I remember, he’s the only candidate thus far who has attacked global warming and other environmental nonsense. This is great. Newt & Flip equivocate on these issues.
We fixed all that. Mission accomplished.
In doing all of that we built an all consuming unrestricted regulatory structure that pours out pollution of a political kind.
“In doing all of that we built an all consuming unrestricted regulatory structure that pours out pollution of a political kind.”
Very well put.
On Tuesday El Rushbo read a news item about how SHOCKED “scientists” were with the latest satellite evaluation of the Himalayas stating that the snow pack had not diminished AT ALL in the last 10 or 15 years.
IMHO, they were not SHOCKED. I think they were DISAPPOINTED! Because it meant a likelihood that unless they could enhance their scam in some OTHER fashion, such news might spell the end of the line for their ride on the Gov’t Handout gravy train!
Years ago, that kind of stuff happened in the USSR. Any results of a study that supported reinforced the philosophy of the party or of certain leader was good job security.Of course labors camp offered permanent job security.
AMEN!!! Rick, if you keep this up I'll finally start getting excited about someone running this year.
FINALLY: a politician with common sense and courage. A rare combination!!!
Especially against the EnvironMental GANG-GREEN that's constantly trying to infect America at every turn!!!
But.... But... But Newt is a CONSERVATIVE! (At least that's what I keep reading on here.)
You know what peeves me to no end...Romney saying that Santorum is a big government conservative.
He may be, but I’m weighing the two sides.
Does NOT compute or compare.
BTW, it’s so good to “see” you!
Thanks so much for the ping. ;o)
It is also time for people to start listening to the wisdom of Marco Rubio.
This is a serious question: If Santorum is this wonderful, why/how did he lose his reelection bid by 19%?
We need to know this-—because if memory serves, we need to win Pennsylvania in November.
