Nice to see Rick Santorum sending signals to gun owners.

I would rather have a candidate that used guns for more than campaign photo-ops.
If guns have never been part of their daily life they likely really don’t care much about gun issues.

Santorum has a mixed voting record when it comes to gun rights. At least he didn’t say he was a small varmint hunter.

Just heard on Fox News radio (about 1 minute ago) that Santorum is surging against Romney.
Santorum is showing some very good instincts.
He’s also surging on Intrade. Now Santorum is pretty much taking Gingrich’s place.
2 weeks ago my preference was that Santorum would throw his support to Gingrich.
I’m prepared to hope now, that Gingrich climbs aboard the Santorum express. A solid, in-Mitt’s face Gingrich endorsement of Santorum (along perhaps with a concurrent endorsement by Palin) might just knock Romney out of this thing.
Heard a pretty good quote this morning on an earlier news clip - a guy saying what he liked about Santorum, is that he knew without question, he could trust leaving his own grandchildren in his care.
Santorum has a lot more to offer than babysitting, but that’s a great endorsement from a grandfather.
And I agree with it. Santorum is the real deal.

I stand tall with the Second Amendment.Good!
Question for Rick: Being a bitter-clinger from Pennsylvania, how many and what guns do YOU own?
Each candidate who claims to be a "strong" 2nd Amendment supporter should be asked this, and followed up with "Would you sign HR 822 into law?"

"Santorum has a mixed voting record when it comes to gun rights."
Santorum has a lifetime A+ rating from the NRA. Believe me, just about any candidate coming out of Pennsylvania is going to have a very good record on guns, unless they are from the city of Philidelphia. I much prefer a candidate showing his support for the second amendment by visiting gun stores and gun shows than going out and shooting a duck or pheasant. The second amendment is not about hunting, it's about owning and being able to carry arms for your protection against criminals. Be they individuals or governments.

Might have been a good idea if Santorum had focused on topics of Gun Ownership. That way the pictures reinforce the message. Just sayin’.
That said, it’s good to see Rick get some traction. As a Pennsylvania voter in a late primary that usually doesn’t matter much, I’d like the opportunity to vote for him and have it mean something.

I don't trust Santorum on much except life and marriage issues. A pro life mushy moderate that would cave on most everything else.

I'm one of those bitter clinging gun owners from Pennsylvania that Obama talked about. However, I don't really care how many guns Santorum owns. I care about what his beliefs are for my God given freedom to keep and bear arms. He has a lifetime A+ rating from the NRA. That's pretty good.

"I dont trust Ricky on guns." Gun Owners of America (GOA) gives Santorum a higher lifetime rating than Gingrich.

I hate headline writers.
Does this mean “Suddenly Hot” referring to Santorum’s rise in popularity? Or, does it mean Suddenly, Hot Candidate Rick Santorum decides to visit a gun range?

I don't think you know too much about Rick's political career. If he's a mushy moderate, then Jim Demint must be also. Sure, he's caved on a few things over the years such as voting for No Child Left Behind, Perscription Drugs and against the National Right to Work laws, but overall he's as solid a conservative as they come.
As I like to point out to many. If this forum would have been around in 1980, many freepers on here would have been bashing the Governor who signed a gun ban into law and raised taxes in his state. Thankfully, those freepers didn't stop Ronald Reagan from becoming the best President in my lifetime. No one's record is perfect. Overall, Ricks has been pretty darn good and is very solidly conservative on a range of issues.

I saw an article weeks ago that said he owns seven firearms. I believe he also said his favorite is his Kimber 1911. I don’t know how a grown man gets by with only seven, but that’s more than most D.C. politicians own.
Also, didn’t Santorum champion legislation designed to protect firearm manufacturers (and maybe dealers) from civil liability in cases filed by the anti-gun crowd.

So if Obama went out and bought a bunch of semi-autos, he would be a pro gun POTUS?
Rick got a A+ rating from gun groups.....I like him.
Newt is too much of a careerist for my taste.

A+ from the NRA is a great rating.
Romney appears to be very soft on 2A.
Gingrich is not where I would like him to be on 2A.
Rick is good to go on this issue.
I am not a single issue voter but the candidates stand on 2A is very important to me. Ranks with unfettered energy production.
To: Old Teufel Hunden
And Mitt has a NRA lifetime B rating. I don’t trust him either. Both show a fundemental “misunderstanding” of the constitution.
