Fast and Furious: Rep. Darrell Issa Blinks, No Contempt Charges for Holder
Big Government ^ | Feb. 11, 2012 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 02/11/2012 11:38:13 AM PST by Smokeyblue

For nearly a year now, House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R=CA) and Attorney General Eric Holder have locked horns over Operation Fast and Furious. Throughout this time we have seen heated exchanges between the two during Congressional hearings, watched the DOJ’s narrative change more than once, and wondered why Holder has thus far been allowed to dictate the speed at which the committee can investigate him.

As of late, when Holder dug in and simply refused to the turn over the documents the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed, the contest between he and Issa turned into nothing less than a battle of wills. And Issa upped the ante when he drew a line in the sand and gave Holder until 5 pm on February 9th to comply with the subpoenas or face charges of contempt of congress.

Anyone else but me remember how this story about Boehner and his mistresses surfaced and then disappeared before the 2010 mid term election?

“Socialist R vs Socialist D. Some choice.”

They all love big govenment. That’s what they do; spend other people’s money for a living.

The most terrifying thought to the denizens of DC is losing their cushy job and having to work in the real world. Regardles of political stripe (purely a designation of convenience and not principle), they will say or do anything to stay in office in order to avoid the indignity of actually having to produce a useful product or service to society.

Why aren't the critics going after the last Bush administration where this whole thing began. AG Mulkasey had to have approved "Fast and Furious" and the Obama administration came along and decided to continue it. I think they decided the threshhold on what is and is not legal, had been lowered so they just embelished it by involving many other agencies of the federal government.

Many times when something like this happens in our government the comment is, "I was not protecting the man, I was protecting the presidency". Well, after the news this past week on John Kennedy and Miss Mi Mi, I believe there is not much left to protect.

I’d bet money (if I had any. lol) that there is more to all the R caving than just politics. It’s too consistent and it is too much of an in-your-face spitting on the people the R’s need to support them. Just like the D’s that went along with suicidal votes after being pressured by the leaders of their party and then took it in the rear in the mid-term election. It’s something besides politics-as-usual that is getting these lawless results. There is something both the R’s and D’s fear more than just not getting re-elected because they are willing to fall on their electoral swords for an agenda that is destroying America.

Amen!!!!!! These guys must be being blackmailed, threatened, their families threatened - something. No one seems to have the moral fortitude to do what’s right. What are they possibly being threatened with that they even do things that are political suicide, as you said?

I’m praying for that act of God - that he’ll have mercy on our country once again, altho we don’t deserve it. Such corruption..... :-(

“Nevertheless, Issa has given in and provided Holder with more time anyway. And to make matters worse, as of today the extension has no time limit on it.”

I’ll bet that there’s a “Boner” in the woodpile!

This time next year F&F will be a distant and almost forgotten memory. The only thing we will remember about is that we got sold out-—again.

I hope I am wrong, we shall see.

Because when Bush did it he had the approval of the Mexican government and actually put tracking devices in the guns - unlike now, when neither of those is the case any more.

Under Holder it’s a whole different bird; it’s not even a weapons tracking program, it’s simply a drug cartel arming program. An act of war against Mexico in an attempt to get the Mexican government to pressure the US to get rid of the 2nd amendment.

Refresh me on the particulars. Boehner was the minority whip since 2006 when Pelosi became House speaker. So the dems were in power in Congress when all the Fanny and Freddie, etc stuff hit the fan. Boehner was the top guy for the R’s in the House.

Now you’re mentioning that before the 2010 midterm there was a story about Boehner that surfaced. Was Boehner running for re-election then?

After the landslide happened in 2010 was there anybody who challenged Boehner to be the Speaker of the House? How did that go?

Anybody know how Boehner stood on TARP?

Who was been the R leader of the Senate between 2006 until now? I know I should know it but my mind is having a brain freeze right now. I’m trying to sort out a bunch of stuff.

I think some things might be starting to make sense.

I lost all respect for Issa when he endorsed Romney. So this doesn’t surprise me or change my opinion of him.

I was going to say this is what we’d get with a romny admin.

If issa had enforced a deadline holder would have screamed RACISM, he already has.

Where is kevin mccarthy on this? really really disappointed in my local, so called, rep.

If it’s political suicide, they must believe that something even bigger than their own career is at stake. Something that would make their career moot.

In the case of Ben Nelson, he was willing to fall on a sword that not only ended his career but has made him practically a cuss word in Nebraska. After many years of half-decent service to Nebraskans. He was willing to give up his good name as well as his career. This is NOT politics as usual. I feel in my gut that it’s much larger than that.

And we’ve not had a budget since Obama took office. Besides that, when dems were the LAME DUCKS in Congress, the R’s STILL gave up the don’t-ask-don’t-tell policy, the budget battle, AND agreed to the treaty with Russia whereby the Russians now say we can’t develop missile defense systems. The R’s knew they would take the House if they just delayed but they wouldn’t even do that. Definitely more than meets the eye.

Could it even be something like threats from the cartels themselves?

read the link I posted, and I was mistaken, it was as he became Speaker that this story surfaced and was supposedly being investigated by the New York Times.

So, Jeff Zaslow is married to a Sharon Margolis (Fox2 in Detroit). He went out of control and hit a tractor trailer and died.

Something about that is so Clintonesque it made me think of Marjorie Margolies (also a journalist) and the fact her son (by her convicted criminal ex-husband) is now married to Chelsea.

So, I looked for a connection and couldn't find it, but this dude also wrote a book about the recovery of Gabrielle Giffords. He must undoubtedly have investigated the background of the shooting a tad. Maybe there's some information in his notes for the book that might be of interest to Fast & Furious investigators.

Remember, the reason Jarred could buy a gun so easy is the FBI and ATF had the Pima County gun dealers so cowed that there was virtually no verification going on.

It's probably very muchworthsomebody's time to run down Sharon and see if she has dealings with this Margorie (and her anomalous spelling of the same name).

Boehner and Eric Cantor approve on Fast and Furious.

That is why they put a stop to it.
