Why I Chose Newt Over Santorum
WorldNetDaily ^ | 2/12/2012 | Chuck Norris

Posted on 02/12/2012 8:49:12 PM PST by katiedidit1

In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected. (Listen in this video how Santorum passionately endorsed and elevated Mitt in his bid for the Oval Office.)

Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: “If you’re a conservative, if you’re a Republican, there is only one place to go, and that’s Mitt Romney.”

•Santorum was a serial earmarker, requesting billions of dollars during his time in the Senate, and not reversing his position on earmarks until he was out of Congress in 2010. As recently as 2009, Rick said, “I’m not saying necessarily earmarks are bad. I have had a lot of earmarks. In fact, I’m very proud of all the earmarks I’ve put in bills. I’ll defend earmarks.”

So did Mark Levin in 2008 who did not view Huckabee or McCain as conservatives. You going to trash him too?

Here’s the story:

Levin must have had a lapse in judgement on Santorum. I agree with Ollie North, Art Laffer, JC Watts, Rick Perry, Chuck Norris, Todd Palin, Hermain Cain and others on Newt. Newt's Conservative Record •Voted YES on the Reagan tax cut of 1981 •Voted YES on the Reagan tax reform bill of 1986 •Voted NO on the George H.W. Bush "Read My Lips" tax hike in 1990. •Voted NO on the Clinton tax hike in 1993. •Voted YES on the capital gains tax cut in 1997. •Voted NO on the Chrysler bailout in 1979 •Voted YES on the Gramm-Rudman balanced budget bill in 1985 •Voted YES on a balanced budget amendment (as part of the "Contract for America" effort that he led) in 1995 •Led the effort and voted YES to cut $16.4 billion from the budget in 1995. •Voted YES on welfare reform in 1996

I am with Chuck Norris all of the way. Santorum has some good

social issues though he has flipped flop about Romney.

Like today, he says he didn't write his book about women roles in the work place-now, he flips flops to say that his wife wrote most of the book. He is proud of ear mark though says government needs retrains (Yikes) He lives in the Washington area (in Virginia) though takes money from the Pines Hills school system of PA for home schooling. This is fraud and known as playing the system. Ricky is very much getting on my nerves for his goody 2 shoes attitude.

Romney was probably the best out of that trio in 2008. He didn’t win. This year it’s Newt who is the best out of our choices. Let’s hope he does win.

See post 152. I forgot to ping you to it.

The hue and cry that's emerging in these quarters over the vetting of Santorum's Senate voting record is astounding to me. It would be more honest if his supporters would admit that he's a 'compassionate conservative' like Bush (which is little different than the nanny state libs we're trying to defeat), but they don't do that. They shoot every messenger they run across, with both barrels.

Rick’s a humorless big govt statist. Nice guy, though.

I wish people would read what Norris wrote. Santorum's record is not one of a "true" conservative. He seems to have an innate antithesis towards the 2nd Amendment.

When you look at Rick's life's work, his big achievement is being a Senator. Whop de do. He has held NO leadership position. They guy has an over inflated opinion of himself. He does not show much humility.

A side by side comparison of their positions shows Newt to be the better choice. Newt is fine tuning a wonderfully strong Liberty platform. Rick does not come across strong and natural. He is painful to listen to for more than two minutes.

Rick seems more obsessed with impressing the crowd with how wonderful and pure he is as a Conservative.

Newt on the other hand speaks forcefully about taking on Washington in a big way. Recently you can see Rick parroting a lot of what Newt is speaking about. Pathetic.

I pray that Newt can turn things around and move ahead.

>> It would be more honest if his supporters would admit that he’s a ‘compassionate conservative’ like Bush

A humorless Bush reincarnate as I recently mentioned. And quite a bit more paternalistic.

No thanks, Rick. Come back in 2020 with some more wisdom under your belt.

I’m good with either Santorum or Newt but this “serial earmarker” nonsense is silly. Senators have a job to do, and this is how they do it.

It’s as stupid as saying Reagan was a “serial executive order-signer”....
