A brokered convention: Jeb Bush vs. Sarah Palin
The Hill ^ | Monday February 13, 2012 | Bernie Quigley

Santorum’s contraception boom — “We’re all Catholics now,” said Mike Huckabee — won’t hold up. Because we’re not. This race could well go to a brokered convention. If Jeb Bush is proposed, so Sarah Palin should be minutes later. She is now and always has been the singular Jacksonian voice in the original Tea Party phenomenon; the only one who can bring it to the mainstream. Her absence from the primary race has left a vacuum and no substitute has been found. Every other possible or potential leadership hopeful has risen and receded in this long Republican primary season.

[....]

The Bush secret agenda has been a subliminal theme for months with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the favored proxy and pitchman. At CPAC it broke through to the surface: Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union, says that Republican turmoil might lead to a brokered convention in which Jeb Bush would emerge as a “possible alternative” party nominee. It made Drudge this weekend.

He's right! If we get to that point --- the establishment is going to squeeze or ram Jeb or Christie as the saviors, we have to counter that immediately with Palin

You think Romney would get creamed by Obama? Just nominate Jeb Bush. By the time the Obama crew got done pining the blame on everything wrong with country on him because his last name happens to be Bush, it would be a blowout of Reagan/Mondale proportions.

No more Bush’s. Another Bush would mean one of two things. An Obama win or a one term republican.

“We’re all Catholics now”??

What idiocy.

Those laws don’t just apply to Catholics. They apply to everyone (except probably Muzzies).

I don’t understand why our side is trying to divide itself that way.

Yeah PDSer! The establishment thinks that Jeb or Christie are their Saviors if Mitt can’t do it. That’s why they keep on hinting about those two if there is a brokered convention

Conservatives have wanted a brokered GOP convention just for this reason: to go head to head with the establishment/country club Republicans and, we assume, emerge victorious. This works for me.

Palin is the 900 lb gorilla not in the room.
I have been an advocate of Palin going 3rd party if Mitt is nominated. I believe she could win with 43% of the vote with R’money garnering 22% and Obama 35%. She pulls the Reagan Democrats and the independent anti-Obama crowd along with the tea party. Obama loses 7% of Clinton's 43% win as the Reagan democrats abandon him as do the independents.

Heck, Ross Perot got 19% as a nut case, all she has to get is 24% more, the numbers are there!

Pissed off patriots vote!

The establishment pushed Dole and McCain, why not push a tired-a** name like Bush once again. They are truly insane but will do it

A brokered convention will guarantee the GOP gets their choice and conservatives will be left out in the cold.

So you would prefer Our Sarah as a savior?

Maybe you need a grip on perspective regarding saviors.

Read your Bible.

What is with all this Jeb Bush crap?? For Heaven’s sake, there had been a Nixon, a Dole or a Bush on every presidential ticket (with one exception) from 1952 to 2004. Enough with the establishment nominees!

That’s why I’m glad Sarah said that no one should be afraid of a brokered convention — it’s well time that we have this fight out in the open and expose those elements within the party for what they are to everyone else. If the Elites force their way once again then it’ll be time to for us to start our new “second” party and the GOP go the way of the Whigs

In my opinion, a brokered convention only illustrates just how deeply divided Republicans really are, and no I’m not a Mitt supporter. I prefer Newt or Santorum. I figure we go on to get creamed in November no matter who gets the nomination.

I think opinions on Ms. Palin likely break down between those who think "Jacksonian" is a compliment, and those who think it isn't.
