At a press event on the payroll tax cut yesterday, President Obama mentioned how extending the proposal would help Americans pay for gas as the price increases.
Obama attributed the growing price of oil to a strengthening economy which in turn means demand for oil increases.
"And when gas prices are on the rise again because as the economy strengthens, global demand for oil increases. And if we start seeing significant increases in gas prices, losing that $40 could not come at a worse time," Obama said.

The Fool on the Hill.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I’ll take my prize NOW, please!
I called this one on Sunday.....
He who controls the language controls the masses. Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals
“He can’t be that stupid, but he apparently thinks the American People are.”
YES, he does think the sheeple are stupid. And he hasn’t been proven wrong, yet.
He who controls the language controls the masses. Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals
And it looks like he is doing a great job at that too.
You know what we need? : An effective opposition party to Democrats, one that is smart enough to come up with simple sounding populist messages that crush Obama’s simple sounding populist messages . But where can we find that party?
I still cant figure out what House Republicans think they are there for.
The perks.
“I still cant figure out what House Republicans think they are there for.”
We have LOTS of good Republicans on the Hill screaming bloddy murder, about many things Obama is doing, but if the Magic Sqwauking Box in the Living Room doesn’t tell the sheeple about it, they don’t know it.
It’s why Glen Beck had to go, and why FoX had to be marginalized.
I’ll keep referring you to this quote:
He who controls the language controls the masses. Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals
Now the world average economy may be growing enough to push up demand and raise prices on a barrel of oil. But is not being done here in the US. We just suffer from their gains.
Total Petroleum Products sold in the US, including gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, etc.
“Is this fool reading directly from 1984 ????? this truly is double speak!”
I’ll bet you thought “1984’ was just a book.
Socialist Democrats see it as an INSTRUCTION MANUAL.
I wish they would mock him on Saturday nite live when he says dumb things like this- Everyone knows that growing produce, delivering it cost money as as gas go up so goes groceries and all products- I bet Jeremy Lin would make a better pres with his econ degree

“Why doesnt some Journalist ask if such a scenario as you tongue-in-cheekily suggest were to happen”
No mainstream media ‘Journalist’ is going to dare to ask that of Obama.
They don’t want to be looking for a new media job in the OBAMA ECONOMY?
Gas prices were really good for most of Bush’s presidency, and the economy was roaring for most of his presidency... except for the very beginning (recovering from Clinton) and the final 2 where Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took control.
High gas prices stagnates the economy. It is high because of the lefts war on domestic oil production.
Consumption goes down with bad unemployment numbers, higher prices, and a bad economy.
The numbers.
What reduced refining? We have plenty of capacity and are running at a typical level and even above our demand.
We are actually producing more refined products than we are using. Refined products (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, heat oil, etc) are at a net export due to us producing more than we use.
We do not have a refinery shortage, we have a refinery surplus. We have a shortage on domestic oil production, the upstream, not the downstream side of the industry.
We need more areas opened up for exploration and production, not more refineries.
Yep, the good old days. A friend and I were talking the other day and I told him I remembered getting a package of 2 Twinkies for 12 cents and a comic book for 15 cents.
Your Alinsky proverb is obvious to me and I preach it every day.
‘screaming bloddy murder’ isnt necessarily the same as launching effective political messages. Ever since Republicans took over the House, Obama has laid trap after trap and those Republicans keep walking into them seemingly blindly to them, it is driving their own ratings down to the teens and Obama’s up. The Republicans are so darn predictable that they make easy prey for Obama.
Now they are so punch drunk that they are doing pre-emptive surrenders with little upside to them. They don't hurt Obama.
I will agree that the POTUS has a huge natural advantage over any ordinary congressional member,
But Pelosi as house Speaker know how to use GWB to take down the Republican party in 2007 and 2008, where is that determination and effectiveness and teamwork on the Republican side?
Alinsky was 100% right on this one...
