Obama to fill World Bank vacancy

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Larry Summers, former Treasury Secretary and ex-Obama economic adviser, have been floated as candidates for the post, according to a recent Bloomberg report. The job does not require Senate confirmation.

The Washington, D.C.-based organization—which loans billions of dollars to developing countries—has been a plum assignment for political insiders since its creation after the end of World War II. The most recent presidents both hailed from the administration of George W. Bush. Zoellick, the former deputy secretary of State, replaced Paul Wolfowitz in 2007.

Wolfowitz, who was second in command at the Pentagon, resigned from the World Bank after giving questionable pay raises to an employee who was also his girlfriend. Other prominent former World Bank presidents include Robert McNamara, who as Secretary of Defense in the 1960s was an architect of the Vietnam War.

Fits, doesn’t it?

Neither has any abilities that could be correlated with the position...so it sounds like an ideal “progressive” pick to me.

Talent? Obama don’t need no stinkin’ talent - for himself or his minions.

Why are we loaning money to developing countries, when we are borrowing money ourselves?

I know that is a dumb question, but if I were borrowing money to stay alive I would not be loaning that money to
someone else.

Just to make a point of order here, Doesn’t the word Loan, mean that at some time thos money will be repaid? What is the repayment schedule for these developing countries?

The job does not require Senate confirmation.

Not that it would matter. He would simply declare them to be in recess.

After what both of them have accomplished for their past employers, think of how they could help the world..sarc

Larry Summers, Harvard financial genius who drove their endowment fund into a ditch, then became obama’s top economic advisor and drove the US economy into a ditch

or Hillary, the queen of pork bellies and real estate scam looter of S&L’s, imagine her traveling the globe with her lapdog Huma

These people are SHAMELESS

I’m just surprised they havent mentioned Jon Corzine to run it- he must be hiding under a rock until after obama re-election

It’s likely to be HILLARY. She has always wanted to run The World Bank.

And look for JOHN KERRY to replace her as Sec of State.

Remember the crowd we are dealing with here, folks.

It will be Clinton.

This eliminates the most likely competition to Obama’s re-election.

We're also going to try to replace some of our older servers and failing equipment this year so we're going to add a little extra to our FReepathon goals. John is estimating ten to fifteen thousand to do this and I'd like to get it all in place and working before the election cycle is fully heated up, so we'll try to bring in a little more now if we can and the rest next quarter.
