Please revisit all the liberals who called Rush Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" effort urging conservatives to vote for Hillary Clinton "undemocratic" and worse. Because Daily Kos blog boss Markos Moulitsas announced on Wednesday "Operation Hilarity," urging liberals to turn out and vote for Rick Santorum to "keep the GOP clown show going!"
"Rush Limbaugh and his ilk have had no problem meddling in our own contests. And if there's one thing Daily Kos is about, it's about fighting fire with fire," he wrote. "And in any case, it's freaking hilarious. I mean, Rick Santorum? Really? The Republicans have offered up this big, slow, juicy softball. Let's have fun whacking the heck out of it." They're even raising funds for Facebook ads. He writes:
It's time for us to take an active role in the GOP nomination process. That's right, it's time for those of us who live in open primary and caucus states—Michigan, North Dakota, Vermont and Tennessee in the next three weeks—to head out and cast a vote for Rick Santorum.
Why would we do such a crazy thing? Lots of great reasons!
Republican turnout has sucked, and appears to be getting worse by the contest. Unlike the 2008 Democratic primaries, which helped President Barack Obama and the Democrats to build a national organization, the GOP is an organizational disaster, with waning voter interest. That means that it takes fewer votes to have an impact than if Republican turnout was maxed out.
Several of the contests have produced razor-thin margins of victory. Rick Santorum won Iowa by 34 votes, Mitt Romney "won" Maine by 194 votes. It won't take many of us to swing contests the way we want them to swing.
The longer this GOP primary drags on, the better the numbers for Team Blue. Not only is President Barack Obama rising in comparison to the clowns in the GOP field, but GOP intensity is down—which would have repercussions all the way down the ballot.
The longer this thing drags out, the more unpopular the Republican presidential pretenders become. Just look at Mitt Romney's trajectory, which followed Herman Cain's trajectory, and Newt Gingrich's trajectory, and Michelle Bachmann's trajectory, and so on.
Rick Santorum will inevitably follow the same path once he gets properly vetted. Mitt Romney has been unable to stem the bleeding despite his tens of millions. Just imagine Santorum, with the far more radical record and a continued inability to raise real money.
It's a no-brainer! The following states have completely open contests coming up: 2/28: Michigan (Primary) 3/6: North Dakota (caucus) 3/6: Tennessee (primary) 3/6: Vermont (primary)
If you live in one of those states, pledge to participate in Operation Hilarity by voting or caucusing for Rick Santorum.

We were a vastly different country in 1976, than now. Carter was a Dem too. He was treated differently than a Repub would have been. Santorum is portrayed as a nut, and given what he kind of conversations he gets into (contraception), I’m not so sure he is ready for a general election campaign. I don’t know if he knows what is wrong with his focus on irrelevant things such as contraception. Americans may be pro-life, but they aren’t anti-contraception. He is letting himself get drawn into things he shouldn’t.
Just FYI - I didn’t make that assertion and wasn’t trying to support it. I just told my version of the events in Texas.

It seems you're hoping for a Gingrich/Palin ticket.
There's no doubt in my mind that ticket would be every Democrat's second choice. The first would be Palin/Gingrich.
Regardless, if America really wants four more years of the Marxist Kenyan rather than Santorum, she deserves it. Let her have it. (And, yes, I will vote for whomever is the R nominee.)

While it was a great story - it didn't explain how encouraging people to vote for Hillary increased the likelihood of an 0bama nomination.

In reading about Operation Chaos, it is stated that Rush came up with the idea to keep the Democratic selection process going after Obama had already won several states. Iowa is first in the nation, so why would Operation Chaos have even been thought up prior to Iowa? Real Clear Politics shows Clinton ahead of Obama by 20% in polls during the two to three weeks prior to the Iowa caucus of 2008.
Operation Chaos had absolutely nothing to do with the 2008 Iowa Democratic Caucus results.
Any Republican crossover in the 2008 Caucus would have been by those who thought Obama was the weak candidate, and not due to O.C.

For a conservative to be abjectly pessimistic now about Rick Santorum’s chances of defeating Obama in a general election is of little consequence.
If Rick Santorum wins the GOP nomination, then at that point expressing abject pessimism about his chances in the general election will be to serve the commie and pervert cause.
The liberals want Santorum because he is the most corrupt of the Republicans running for President, and the Democrats know this.
In 2005-2006 he was considered one of the most corrupt Senators in the U.S. Senate due to “Pay-for-Play”.
1. Santorum’s charity “Operation Good Neighbor” (2001-07), doled out just 36% of income as grants, far less than the 75% of responsible causes. It can only be coincidence the charity which spent most of its money on lobbyists, aides and fundraisers closed after he was defeated for reelection.
2. Santorum’s “leadership PAC,” called “American’s Foundation,” was worse—just 18% went to actual candidates. That’s well below similar PACs. The rest went into overhead like trips to Starbucks for staffers.
3. The $500,000 mortgage for his Leesburg mansion came from a private bank run by a big campaign donor. By all appearances, Santorum was not eligible for the closed program since it was for high-wealth investors in the trust.
4. Santorum bilked a Pennsylvania school district out of $72,000 to pay for home “cyberschooling” of five of his kids ... in Virginia. (He makes a great Tea Party candidate, don’t you think?)
5. As the third-ranking Republican, he worked closely with House majority leader Tom DeLay, now felon, on the “K-Street Project” to grow ties between the GOP and major lobbyists. Twenty-three of his own staffers landed well-paying jobs at lobbying firms. When he was fired by the PA voters? Santorum turned to lobbyists.
6. This supporter of Medicare Part D was so important to this culture of crony capitalism, an internal memo at pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline said his loss “creates a big hole that we need to fill.”
7. Before anyone heard of Solyndra, on behalf of a major supporter Santorum was securing $100 million federal loans for a coal-to-liquids plant that was never built. The project’s lobbyist was PA’s top GOP power broker, Bob Ashner, and paid nearly $1 million.
That’s seven places just to start. Besides his unheard of 18-point loss for reelection, putting electability in question there’s also his hypocrisy of campaigning on requiring health insurance in 1994, on his public tort reform position vs. his testimony in his wife’s own legal case, his “problem” with working women, his union pandering and more. Lots more.
What has this failed lawyer and career politician really done? What credibility does he bring to reform, what does he propose to “drain the swamp” he help create as project point-man while part of the leadership?
We all know what Romney is.

The idea the former third-ranking Republican is some how not part-and-parcel of the establishment is ludicrous on its face. He made his choice for traitor Spector over conservative Toomey in the senate GOP primary. The result? Specter provided the 60th Senate vote to pass Obamacares.

I think it would be a huge mistake for the GOP convention to nominate anyone other than Newt, Santorum, Romney, or Ron Paul.
The primary process, flawed as it is, is the time where we put our potential nominees to the test.
Only those who have gone through this process are well-known enough by the electorate to be entrusted with the nomination.
Compared to the four remaining candidates, Sarah is very much unknown and untested. Speeches, friendly interviews, and facebook postings don't count. Debates and the harsh glare of the campaign do.
I get it. If somebody doesn't support Santorum they are serving the commie and pervert cause.
