Lambrousi Harikleia reached her breaking point on Wednesday when her boss at the Greek Housing Authority in Athens announced that, thanks to the Greek government’s far-reaching austerity measures, both she and her husband would be losing their jobs. Harikleia and her husband, who have a disabled child, climbed out the window of their office building and threatened to jump to their deaths. “At least if we are dead someone will have to take care of our child,” she can be heard saying from her dangerous perch. After over five hours on the ledge, police were able to coax her to safety, but she still won’t be getting her job back.

Poor babies. You lost your cushy gov't jobs because the Greek gov't could no longer borrow from the Germans and French to finance your lifestyle. Stop with the histrionic. Really no wonder your country is so messed up.

The government has squandered its savings and is mired in a debt crisis that is no longer sustainable without help from the EU—which is clamoring for drastic cuts. But it is everyday Greek citizens who say they are paying the highest price for the government’s mishandling of its assets

What savings???? The Greeks since independence has always been in debt and was a serial defaulter. Who voted for these governments that blew $10 billion hosting the Olympics and borrowers hundreds of billions from the Germans and French.

This is coming to America thanks to the Dems and GOP. What will all the welfare-babies do when their welfare runs out?

The headline is a lie. There is no such thing as a Greek worker.

But when they get where they are going they will be expected to actually work. So the joke will be on them.

Cheebugga, cheebugga.

You beat me to it. They should come to New York. There is always a need for coffee to go and a nice Greek salad.

“Harikleia and her husband, who have a disabled child,”

And you want to move to canada? LOL, with the socialized healthcare they’ll treat your child worse than what the Greeks did.

I don't care who they are or where they're from, it's a sad story. We may not like the way the Greeks have done things but the ordinary people are not monsters, just little people who are living in a flawed system.

This can't happen in the US. DC government office buildings are not tall enough.

There are good hard-working people in the most socialist of states and countries. You're right. There's a lot of suffering in Greece by a lot of people who had nothing to do with the government's corruption.
