WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's struggles in Michigan are fueling speculation that Republicans might have to resort to a doomsday scenario and launch a frantic search for a 2012 savior at their nominating convention in late August....How did Republicans get to this point? Romney's failure to get conservatives fully behind him and put down yet another challenger in the party - this time it's Rick Santorum - is causing angst in the party. Many senior Republicans do not think Santorum, a social conservative caught up in the U.S. culture wars over issues like abortion and contraception, has a chance to beat Obama if he wins the party's presidential nomination. When he ran for re-election as a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania in 2006, Santorum lost by 18 percentage points.... "It's hard for me to see how Romney rights the ship if he loses Michigan," said Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak. "There is no level of spin that can overcome that disaster." Michigan will set the table for "Super Tuesday," the March 6 jackpot when 10 states hold Republican nominating contests. A loss for Romney in Michigan would raise serious doubts over whether he can rally enough support to have a big day on Super Tuesday and make a big move toward clinching the nomination. ....Who would Republicans turn to if not Romney or Santorum? Think of two popular governors, Mitch Daniels of Indiana and Chris Christie of New Jersey, or former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, or even U.S. congressman Paul Ryan, author of a budget plan popular with Republicans....

There is plenty of that kind of dirt in Chicago. Every gay man over 35 had a run in with Barry at Man’s Coutry in the late 90’s. Why SOMEBODY doesn’t do a comprehensive story about Mr. O on the down low...Boggles my mind.
That's my thought as well, although I think Gingrich/Santorum might try for a ticket with just them if they've got 50% between the two of them.
Unless Paul were to throw his support at Romney, I don't see Romney winning a contested convention. There's simply too much "Anyone but Romney" sentiment out there for ROmney to get it any other way.
Frankly, I think a lot of conservatives are misreading "the GOP Establishment". For the most part, they don't like Mitt because he's Mitt. They like him because they just want to win, and they think he was the most electable guy. But I think the depth of the "Anyone but Romney" sentiment probably has caused some of them to reconsider that, and look for someone more acceptable to the party as a whole.
Lets wait til Super Tuesday before we talk Brokered Conventions and such things. Still, it would be exciting for a change. Better than the rubber stamp it has become over the last few decades. I would love a dark horse to come forward.

The issues of the 2012 election are the same ones they have been for several decades now -- a socialist-marxist left-wing intent on tearing down Western Culture and remaking American society into a society where an all-knowing government replaces and becomes the official religion. Conservatives and average Americans across the ideological spectrum know and feel it even if they can't articulate it. When Rick Santorum states the Obama's philosophy runs counter to that of the Christian Bible he is stating that very same thing in a way that most Americans can easily understand and agree with.
Whether or not you are a Christian or live the tenets of Christianity in your daily life you have to agree that our nation, or culture and our peaceful thriving society was built on a Christian Biblical foundation. Even those who don't Worship or practice a religion are familiar with, and benefit from, a nation built on the pillars of hard work, individual responsibility, and solid family foundations.
If you believe that Santorum's message is just about religion and birth control then either haven't been paying attention, or haven't taken the time to look past the latest Associated Press headlines.
The homo dirt that Drudge-Rhoades have for convention use is on the state GOP leaders/delegates, not Santorum or Newt.
It’s common sense to know that communism and naziism run counter to the christian bible.
I hear him mentioning the bible, I do not hear him mentioning communism or naziism, and that is precisely wher eour government is taking us as fast as they possibly can.

The media are doing him a huge favor by repeating and drawing attention to his comment that Obama’s theology runs counter to the Bible.

Why doesn't he start giving links to stories about Mr.O’s gay hi-jinks? How this is still NOT news is astounding. Seems like people know but don't care that the guy in the WH is boinking employees (Love, Penn)! If, 10 years ago, somebody told me that a closet case, socialist, FRAUD would be in the WH I think I would have laughed.
If Marco Rubio is not on the Ticket in the VP spot we lose Florida. If we lose Florida, we lose the White House. Plain and simple.
REF. You Post #42: You need to get everything you know about that situation and somehow, get it to O’Reilly, Hannity, Greta, Glen Beck or someone. Rush wouldn’t do anything with it; it’s beneath him. But, get that to someone who can exploit it.

How about a Paul Ryan/Marco Rubio Ticket?
. That's why Paul's delegates are so important. I think you might see a Santorum/Gingrich union, but you still might not hit 50%. And there seems to be a bit of acrimony between Santorum and Paul in particular.
