I am sorry about your Mother my FRiend.

I am very much afraid that thing will get worse before they get better.

But one thing: We on FR have each other and that means a lot. God bless

Hummm

Then we only have one choice.

Don’t let them

Mom took a long slide from April to November. Congestive heart failure and lung cancer diagnosed 10 days before she passed. The FR community is a great resource. Time well spent. Take care and prepare.

Well, the main thing is --- people *think* it is temporary. For good reason, it typically is and then it goes back down. So, of course, they don't panic because they think it is something they have to wait out and endure for a short period. How long this lasts, remains to be seen.

Right now, the news reports are telling the sheep how good gas prices are for them. Beck played a montage of several reporters crediting high gas prices with saving lives. They were actually giving statistics.

Interestingly enough, where I work, our main bread and butter is big Pharma. Their coffers are still full and still spending like drunken sailors. (many times sending the marketing collateral out of the country for studies, trials, etc.) Without that, we'd 20% of the staff we do now.

Absolutely. Kerosene, diesel, LPG gas, the base chemicals for most crop pesticides/insecticides/fungicides, plastic soda bottles, road asphalt, the list goes on and on. We’re going to get hit from every angle if petroleum prices soar and stay there for any length of time.

The increases will be higher than the actual cost because of the gouging factor.
If something costs more and the price is raised to offset it the price will be much higher than he actual increased cost. Experience has shown that to be true. - Tom

We handled it in 2008. It helped usher in President Barack Obama. What will it usher in or out this time around?

Obama lite if the GOP-e have any say in the matter..

(I AM NOT A ROMNEY SUPPORTER) I think fuel prices is one of the few areas that Romney and Obama do not agree.

Hey! this is one consumer who’d gladly pay $10 or more for a gallon of gas if it causes the demise of the commie takeover.

...by Christmas of 2012 we will not be worried about presents under the tree. We will be too worried about buying food for the table.

Gerald Celente (I make no personal assements of his credibility) said the same thing several years ago.

Something to the effect of "Christmas 2012 - the 'must-have' gift will be 'food'".

Same thing for me.
But if the differential between gasoline and nat gas gets big enough, it will be economically beneficial to put in a home fueling rig.
If I was still working and had a long commute, I’d probably be there already. As a retiree I don’t drive that much.
