Romney and Paul successfully call Santorum’s conservatism into question
Washington Post ^ | February 22, 2011 | Aaron Blake

Rick Santorum’s front-runner status in the GOP presidential race is predicated on the idea that he is the consistent conservative alternative in the field.

And that image had some serious holes poked in it at Wednesday’s debate in Arizona.

Mitt Romney and Ron Paul tag-teamed the former Pennsylvania senator much of the night, calling into question his conservatism on issues ranging from earmarks and fiscal policy to his endorsements and even what is often considered Santorum’s most solidly conservative credential — social issues.

“Santorum had his ass handed to him on a TV tray......”

And it was actually Ron Paul, not Romney, that served up that meal.

Every notice that when the social issue comes up, Paul clams up? I can’t recall what he has said on the issue. But that leaves him a half-way conservative.

>> “Santorum defended his endorsement of Arlen Specter” <<

.
Another big mistake.

He should have been man enough to admit that it was a terrible misstep. This is why he is ill-suited for the presidency; he thinks he is God. He has dozens of serious bloopers to admit, but he lacks the strength of character to do it.

Boehner was also one of those who first tried a coup to vote Newt out, but later dropped the effort because Armey realized it was the wrong thing to do and tipped Newt off.

I think Boehner is nervous of a President Gingrich. It would pose a serious threat to his current position. And Newt does not like RINO Boehner even one tiny bit.

That is not correct.

Santorum said he “took one for the team” on “No child left behind”

NOT on anything else.

“Besides, I not only saw it, I tapped it.”

Tapped it is a slang expression for had sex with the person. How was your sex with Mitt? Did Romney and Paul tag team you?

You are not credible, when it comes to Santorum.

You sound like a screaming Lefty you hate him so much.

His take one for the team answer alone sunk him. Forget about his convoluted earmarks answer. If you watch the debate again (as I just did)he looks like a typical insider explaining all his big mistakes (like No Child Left Behind) by saying that’s the way Washington works, or giving a ridiculously inside baseball answer.

And light years ahead of the others in terms of conservative beliefs.

Thats if you think installing an American Ayatollah is conservative.

HUH?
Are you outing yourself as a lib?
Santorum is very mainstream in his political views.

You equate a belief in the existence of evil with “installing an American Ayatollah”?

Did you wander over from DU by mistake? That is what they believe, and the NY Times/Washington Post/CBS/NBC/ABC.

I will give you fiscally. Socially, come on now. Not from what I hear from him.

I believe in economic freedom first and foremost.

The prolife view is a winner at the ballot box.

Santorum’s views on gay marriage match Obama’s and the majority of voters in California, of all places.

Social issues are winners for Republicans.
