Romney Goes Occupy: The '1%' Need to Pay 'More'

The transcript, in relevant part:

I am going to lower rates across the board for all Americans by 20%. And in order to limit any impact on the deficit, because I do not want to add to the deficit, and also in order to make sure we continue to have progressivity as we’ve had in the past in our code, I’m going to limit the deductions and exemptions particularly for high income folks. And by the way, I want to make sure you understand that, for middle income families, the deductibility of home mortgage interest and charitable contributions will continue. But for high income folks, we are going to cut back on that, so we make sure the top 1% pay the current share they’re paying or more.

It's funny how Romney can learn two decades worth of negative history about Newt and Santorum within a week, but it's been 5 years since his "conversion" and he still hasn't been able to "pick up" conservatism. The guy doesn't talk conservatism because he doesn't know or care about it. He's trying to pretend to be something he's not to win the power of the presidency, that's it.

Add to that, being the first Mormon President (thus giving credibility and clout to the cult) and you've summed it up perfectly.

Romney knows damned well that the 0.1% shelter most of their income in tax-exempt foundations.

You mean the ones located in Swiss banks or the Cayman Islands? Yeah, I guess Romney would know about that.

This is what happens when your new-found “Conservatism” is just a political strategy and not a set of core Conservative Principles.

Yo Mittster!
Everyone pays to much as it is!
The problem is we spend to much and the Gov is to big and inherently wasteful.

An ol Texas redneck called in on the radio this morning and said something profound.

He said that the very notion of “class” is unAmerican.
What makes America great is the notion that a rich man and a poor man are equal in the eyes of the law/Government.

Democrats and Republicans both push this notion of Class, which only causes envy and division among us.
