Mitt Romney spoke to several empty seats Friday in Detroit, in a speech that offered Democrats more fodder for their attacks and failed to deliver the major economic address his campaign promised.
Television cameras showed rows of empty chairs as Romney rehashed many of the policies and quips hed used in previous speeches, made a few jokes that appeared to fall flat with the audience and said that his wife, Ann, drives a couple of Cadillacs, which will likely give Democrats more ammunition for their depiction of him as rich and out of touch.
The former Massachusetts governor also repeated a line that has been the butt of jokes by late-night comedians that Michigan has good-sized trees.
This feels good, being back in Michigan, he said. The trees are the right height. The streets are just right.
Romney then listed the various cars he and his wife own.
I drive a Mustang and Chevy pickup truck, he said. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually. I used to have a Dodge truck, so I used to have all three [Detroit manufacturers] covered.

BINGO!! YOU WIN THE PRIZE!!
I don’t like Romney either, I see the same “Can’t we just get along” as far as the Obamites are concerned and policy compromises I saw with McCain. That’s why I tend to Newt, in spite of the 24/7 hate reporting the MSMerde will levy at him.
The comments found re the republicans that are made in this site are better suited to Ed Schultz’s MSNBC Show (oh god, doesn’t he look like a toad) or the Obama Lavatory Wall.
Great card!
“Give it up!! No one attacked him for making money!! You are TOO media driven.”
I agree, who cares how many cars he buys. If I was as successful as Romney, I would buy myself and my family what they need, and what they want.
They have a big family, I would guess that she has a car for herself and an SUV when the family comes along. We do the same thing, except we own Toyota and Dodge.
Leave it alone, let them spend. The shame would be if they make all this money and are too tight to spend. Then you could complain.
Do you know anyone who can do screen captures? video at link has picture of the empty stadium.
I think the fool should keep this tone deaf gaffe stuff going.
Mitt, who really loved his money, went to Ann and said, “Princess, when I die, I want you to put my half of all our money in my coffin.”
Ann says, “Yes, lovey. As you say.” and she turned back to watching the maid polish the silverware.
The day comes when Mitt bites the dust. After a big funeral, just as they’re closing the lid on the coffin, Ann pulls out her checkbook, and drops a hastily scrawled check onto Mitt’s folded hands.
“As you say, lovey.”
What, do you tie his shoes, brush off his jacket, bring him lunch?
LOL! Where’s my complaint? And about what?
...empty seats....and he is leading now in Mich?
Something does not sound right. My prediction is that Santorum is going to shock the political world on Tuesday night.
You my not so much friend, are the one talking about money. Once again, you also use liking money in a negative connotation. Please, continue to call me a liberal as you say such things....smh
So, we must all bow-down to the silver-spoons??
It’s obvious liberals and Dems tended to be the richest, and it’s us against the elites.
I really couldn’t care less about how many cars the Romneys have.
This probably wouldn’t be a major issue with most Democrats either. What would be is either perceived “extreme right wing” policies (i.e. anything “normal”) or waffling. Romney should really open a nationwide chain of breakfast restaurants with all his waffles.
So you’re against them because they’re rich, or the policy positions they take?
“How does he transport his dog if he doesn’t have that anymore?”
I heard the dog ran away as soon as it arrived in Canada
The policies. But I figure the fact that Romney was born with a silver-spoon in his mouth, without having ever earned it, is just as good as any bit of ammo to use against him.
We need to defeat Romney every bit as we need to defeat Obama, any and all ammo helps.
If Milt becomes President, I’ll be joining the dog too. LOL.
“Ill be joining the dog too”
I’ve heard Australia is the 3rd happiest place to live. I think I might look around there.
I read it twice and I still don’t get it.
I read it twice and I still don’t get it.
Cadillac. GM cars. Nuff said.
Obama drives a Canadian Bus.
You’re nuts! And obsessed about other peoples’ money. Get help and I can’t help you. I have no patience for stupidity/liberals.
Not for nothing, but should the rich stop buying cars? That’s a sure way to put them out of business. I can’t believe how the “hate the rich” mantra has creeped into the FR mentality.
“drives TWO Cadillacs”
Well as long as she does not try to drive them both at the same time, what’s the problem?;)
“Obama will eat his lunch come election time.”
I have my doubts whether Mittens will be nominated...they will probably both be sharing a sandwich on the unemployment line;)

Mitt Headroom is Obama with better hair.
He is a doofus, but the Dems misread this one, Cadillac no longer says rich, it says old white man, unless it’s an Escalade with lots of bling.
lol...trolls. Amusing.
Ask a welfare, foodstamp recipient what he drives, just as good as she has no dought. I heard a story this week about friends of a co worker of mine. They are immigrants who just came back from a cruise with the whole family, they are on public assistance, foodstamps, disability and social security.
yes, I see you understand not giving fodder to the obama campaign.
I like to fire people.

Not enough people to carry them? :)
Where’s the dog? In the trunk?
The DTS & CTS go from 40-60 grand.
And more depending on add-ons.
I think we’re already losers: Obama in office and Romney being foisted on us....
I suspect that remark won’t really resonate (in a negative way) as much as it might have, a few decades ago. The days when a Cadillac was seen as a luxury marque are long gone. My impression is that a Cadillac is little more than a bumped up Buick. In truth, if he had said Mercedes, BMW, Bentley or Rolls, then the negative reaction would have been significant. A Cadillac? That’s a land yacht only diehard domestic buyers would even look at.
Huge symbol for boomers and seniors who are a huge voting segment.
Put it together with “I like to fire people” and “I don’t care about poor people” and “Medicare Fraud”
and you have a winner for Obama.

Boomers will see him as someone who's patriotic and down-to-earth enough to buy American, despite having more than enough dough ($300m) to buy custom foreign made wheels like Rolls Royce or Bentley. A lot of boomers buy foreign luxury cars, because they can't be bothered with the maintenance nightmares presented by domestic makes, and because labels like Cadillac confer negative prestige unless they live in the hood. In 2011, BMW alone outsold Cadillac 250K to 150K, and most buyers of luxury makes are oldsters.
My point is that the media is stuck in the past. These days, a Cadillac isn’t the symbol of ostentation it used to be. Camelot is dead and buried, along with the Cadillac brand name.
Well that answers the question: “How many Cadillacs can one person drive?”
And most seniors and a lot of boomers grew up with Cadillac as a status symbol
APPARENTLY, Romney was one of them.
Neither Romney or Obama have any compassion for the common man. Both men have no idea of the pain an stress millions of Americans are going through. Romney brags about his cars, the Obama’s spoend millions on trips, dining travel, clothes and jewelry. All this being done while millions of Americans are out of work, American Black folk remain tethered in chains to the bottom of the economic totem pole and millions of all types of American suffer from their homes being priced underwater, or.....facing foreclosure!!! Both Romney and Obama need to be broomed out of politics and thrown into the political cesspool of obscurity for eternity. VOTE FOR EITHER SANTORUM OR GINGRICH IN MICHIGAN & ARIZONA, COME NEXT TUESDAY!!!
