"Something is missing from their lives."

IMHO, there is a strong likelihood that what was missing from this youngster's life was a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Lots of national news coverage on this school shooting,as should be.

It’s not whether it’s “traditional” in my book, it’s whether that has been “traditional”, historically speaking.

Historically, *everyone* lived, played and worked in/near the home. The Industrial Revolution changed that, getting men, women and children working outside the home in factories, etc.

Sons learned the family trade from their fathers, and mothers learned how to be a good wife from their mothers. The industrial revolution changed that traditional dynamic, forever.

I’m glad you have enjoyed the positive aspects of the Post-Industrial Revolution family model, but pretending that a societal family model which has existed for less than 200 years is “traditional” while ignoring/downplaying a family model which has been documented for *millennia* is not a “traditional” attitude, nor a “natural” one.

So disgusted with many of these posts. Nothing to do with palin, home schooling et al.

This IS small city America. Actually Chardon is the only city in Geauga County. The rest of us are towns or townships. THIS IS THE HEARTLAND.

Three of our boys have been killed.

Kill the politics, homeschooling (no issue with that but if you lived here, bet you would send your kids to our schools).

Disgusted how this thread turned. Shame on you.

Geuaga County is known in Ohio as a conservative county.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried about my nephew, and wasn’t able to reach my sister until later.

Did you go to that high school? My nephew is in grade 11 there.

No...Hudson is a rival....and it pains me to say anything good about them. At this moment, my kids in grades 9 & 10 are learning that Hudson stinks (in a rivalry-friendly way of course).

Your nephew is going to a great school that turns out great young men and women...cough...choke. :)
