Full title: Latest scientific 'game-changer' in abortion debate, out this week, will send ended pregnancies soaring but prevent heartache, suffering

Raising the prospect of a world without birth defects, a Stanford-created blood test that can detect Down syndrome and two other major genetic defects very early in a woman's pregnancy will be available this week.

The simple blood test spares women the risk and heartache of later and more invasive tests like amniocentesis.

But it has startling social implications — heralding a not-distant future when many fetal traits, from deadly disease to hair color, are known promptly after conception when abortion is safer and simpler.

Will it be covered by Obamacare? Here we go, Brave New World!

Come soon Lord Jesus! This world is in a mess and only going to get worse!

Soon we will be like China. Allowed only one “perfect” child.

When my ob-gyn offered some Down Syndrome test, I refused it because I was having the child no matter what. People of conscience will do the same. So, is the next step to force the test on those expecting babies and refuse to pay for the expenses of Down Syndrome babies?

When does the one that detects homosexuality become available?

You got that right. America is just begging for a harsh judgement.

Maybe not the next step, but, yes it is a step along the way.

If this test isn’t absolutely 100% accurate,
they are dooming “healthy” babies to death.

I for one don’t believe a “downs” baby has any less value than a “healthy” baby.

Think of all the wars, slavery, suffering and discrimination that has happened because of the shape of a persons nose, or the color of their skin. Now what do you think will happen when there really is a superior race?

When I first refused prenatal testing (and I was relatively old and was on medication for epilepsy) my physician went nuts. But I know exactly how you felt, I was going to have my baby no matter what, so all it would do was to “ruin” the pregnancy. I wrote a page-long letter, detailing what I knew about the risks to the baby and how I was refusing testing. And signed it. At least it got him off my case, and I went on to thoroughly enjoy the pregnancy and have a perfect baby girl! But you’re right, how long before these tests are forced upon expecting moms? What is my daughter going to face when she gets pregnant? There’s only one solution, and that is for the Lord Jesus to come and get His church out of this mess!

Yes. And further, refusal to accept abortion of a Downs Syndrome baby will be deemed proof that you are mentally ill, and a judge will order you forcibly subjected to abortion and then sterilized

Mrs Wbill and I skipped the amnio, but checked everything that could be checked via ultrasound. We wanted all of the information that we could have on the baby (babies) going into the delivery, without any invasive procedures.

That being said, there were no certainties provided. All we received is a "There is a 1 in 5000 chance that the baby will have xxxxxxxx Syndrome, a 1 in 3750 chance that...." and so on.

I can't imagine aborting a baby, period. But to make the decision based on what amounts to a dice roll? "Maybe it's this, but maybe not?" Foolish.

When does the one that detects homosexuality become available?

Any prenatal test for a tendency to go homosexual will be deemed a hate crime. Anybody doing research on such a test will be denied any government funding forever. Any doctor performing such a test will have a lawsuit brought against him. Any lab processing such a test will be burned to the ground.

Think I'm exaggerating? Look up the treatment given those who dared to go on record opposing gay marriage, and tell me what gay activists will do if such a test becomes feasible.

You’re right, papa - that research won’t even be allowed to be done, much less funded.

Have you seen the study that shows the correlation between childhood sexual abuse and the incidence of homosexuality? Me niether.
