I am with you. I think they are hoping disillusioned Republicans will go for a Third party and dilute the vote in favor of Obama. AmericansElect.org is in the process of getting a place on the Presidential Ballot in all 50 states where they will drop in the name of the yet to be determined winner of the Americans Elect primary which I think is in June and they already have a space reserved in several states. How the heck can your party be on the ballot already without a candidate named? Sounds pretty fishy to me like a big set up to get Obama elected at all costs. No 3rd party for me!

From what I saw on TV, Doug Schoen was saying he wanted “centrists” and “moderates” on the Americans Elect ticket. I know he name-dropped a few but I can’t recall who. They sounded like they were leaning more to the liberal side though, as “moderates” as defined by the media tend to. Schoen and Pat Cadell were the ones who wrote this editorial saying Obama should step down and let Hillary take over this year:

They may act just as much as a spoiler against Obama as against the Republican. In fact, Hillary is probably their dream candidate. They may really have this dream that a “moderate” can win the election. But at this point I think it’s just as likely they pick someone who takes away votes from Obama as much as from the Republican.

Good detective work on the suspicious...AmericansElect.org.
I looked it up online, and it's a list of far-leftie Dems (Thomas Friedman, NYT, PBS, etc) and quite apparently its a party-splitting, vote-splitting hoax. (They decline to name the funding sources, so one suspects Mister Soros.)
