"Newt Gingrich is the only candidate still in the field who can clearly take on Barack Obama in one-on-one debate and cut through the Obama rhetoric and mystique with hard facts and plain logic. Nor is this just a matter of having a gift of gab. Gingrich has a far deeper grasp of both the policies and the politics than the other Republican candidates." Thomas Sowell

Newt will rise again.

Michelle seemed like a great conservative. It’s sad she’s selling out to the Romney/Gingrich establishment. Maybe Minnesota will get some money out of the Muslim Moon Base.

Yeh, you might be right, Nick. Most of them sell out. I guess she merely decided to take one for the team.

I’d rather have her support than radical left wingers like Joe DiSano and Tony Trupiano that supported Santorum in Michigan.

Santorum's (and most Republican's) willingness to sell out is pretty hideous. But it's hardly a defense for Gingrich, who was in the position to force these people into, "taking one for the team." Remember, he faced rebellion, after he tried to strong arm the GOP into abandoning the Contract With America in 1996, because he believed conservatism was a losing proposition.

The $750 trillion taxpayer-funded Moonbase, run by Obama's sharia-compliant NASA takes the case. The government program to dwarf all other government. I'm sure U.S.taxpayers will be proud they made the Moon the 58th Muslim state. Moonraker was a terrible movie, but Gingrich used it as a policy statement.

Of course, maybe Gingrich's long-awaited environmental bill will be an even government program. Sure, Santorum isn't great, but I'm not voting for someone green on the outside and red on the inside like Gingrich.

You must be living in an alternate dimension. Even the Moon Base stuff is total nonsense. Newt never advocated a NASA run government program to colonize the moon. He specifically discussed his long-running plan, something on the table for years, to encourage private business involvement and investment in space exploration and moon colonization.

All true.

But, precisely because of this, will Obama debate him?

Why should he?

I don’t know what planet you have been living on but you should come back down to Earth. You are so wrong regarding Newt.

I agree with both Dr Sowell and Michelle regarding Newt. He stands the best chance of beating Obama. He also makes RINOs wet their pants. GO NEWT GO!

***********

You’re pulling my leg, right? Funny one, Nick.

Perhaps, however, you can answer a question for me. Over the course of this primary season, I’ve seen many threads promoting other candidates that I don’t support. I’ve never entered those threads for the purpose of demeaning that candidate.

This thread merely states that Cong. Bachmann said something positive about Gingrich. Why do you feel the need to interpose negative remarks on the thread, and thereby denigrate Newt? I’m just curious. Thanks

Yeh, he will. And if that occurred, they should make it “pay per view” and apply it to the national debate.

A lady who works for me asked me the same question yesterday. Thanks to the First Amendment, even the defacto collective Pravda in this country will not be able to withstand the pressure from Newt, Limbaugh, and the rest of the Right. We will simply call Obama a coward. Call me crazy, but I do not think that the states will elect a now known coward.

Cheer up and Go Newt!

Just another one of those folks on FR who have blown so much smoke up their arses that they drifted off into another dimension.

Yeh, he will

I ask again, "Why should he"?

If he's a certain loser -- as I would agree he probably is -- it would be a simple matter to play a delay game. Obfuscate the terms of the debate, its location, its timing, the format, the moderators, the context, etc.

The MSM would never question him in this regard. Instead, they would blame the Gingrich campaign -- for being "obstructive", "contentious", "uncooperative", etc.

Sure, our side would call him on it. They would taunt him and mock him. But would it cost Obama a single vote?

I think not.

If recollection serves, the last president able to avoid debate was Nixon with McGovern- But, Nixon knew that he had an insurmountable lead- and he used the excuse that it was a time of war. So, you’re right, to the extent that it doesn’t hurt Obama in the polls, he could avoid it.

In fall 2012, the economy could be great and all could be well internationally and people could be very happy with Obama’s America- and therefore, he could sidestep a debate.

But, if conditions are not as described, he can’t be perceived as the president afraid to confront his challenger- no matter how he or the media spins it.

IMO, there will be debates.
